Hi all,
I have a 2 year old with whom I had a very tough pregnancy, with nausea and vomiting all the way through.

We recently started TTC again and unfortunately I had an early miscarriage. I am now pregnant again, which is great, but I'm naturally more anxious this time.

I'm about 7 weeks pregnant and having waves of nausea now and again, but mostly feeling fine. By this stage in my first pregnancy, I was already on prescription antiemetics as I could not eat or function without. Even while on the medication, I still vomited daily and was nauseous 24/7, for pretty much the whole 9 months.

I probably should be glad not to be so sick this time, but really I'm very worried. I am convinced something must be wrong and am afraid of a MMC.

Can anyone give me their experiences?

Oh sorry, I've just spotted another thread almost the same from earlier today. I had done a search first but obviously not very successfully!

My first pregnancy was totally different to my second.
Is every way really.

Sorry for your loss and congrats on your new pregnancy, wishing you lots of luck.

Squirrelsonthescaffolding · 22/02/2024 21:26

Yes, lot of vomiting in first, none in second, both babies fine, full term. Hope all goes well for you!

Littleoxforddictionary · 22/02/2024 21:48

Yes, much less nausea second time and it was twins. First singleton pregnancy had awful sickness. Tiredness and pains worse second time but that's easy compared to sickness.

MarceyMc · 22/02/2024 21:50

First pregnancy was very sick until around 16 weeks, this time around absolutely nothing - it did make me feel very anxious too as had miscarriages in between these pregnancies so I fully sympathise! I'm sure everything is fine but I found a private early scan helped settle the anxiety.

nicky2512 · 22/02/2024 21:55

yes - 22 years ago with number one (dd) was so sick from before I knew until she was born. Spent some time in hospital on a drip. Barely functioned and spent a lot of time in bed.

Number two (ds) had normal morning sickness then was generally fine. Was a bit sick throughout and was limited in what I could eat but nowhere near as bad. So glad I chanced it again as I wasn’t going to after dd.

Hope all goes well.

Mmmmpavlova · 22/02/2024 22:02

Thank you all so much. I have been convincing myself for days that this can't be right, Internet searches were not thar helpful really so it is very reassuring to hear that there's a chance it could be OK. I really do appreciate it. It feels such a long wait until the first ultrasound!

Im currently 6+4 and my nausea is on and off but i still have symptoms of everything else.

Boobs are massive, well theyve grown wide rather than anything else😂 i feel exhausted, and on and off sick.

Some people are luckier than others and every pregnancy is different!! Please dont worry about not having sickness! If you are getting really worried then id speak to a gp or midwife or get seen at an EPU!

Haha, my thread?? Just found yours and they're similar!

WhyamInotvomiting · 23/02/2024 09:23

Oh on the early scan thing. I thought about if but personally I've decided not to. Because if there is a sad outcome I can't change it anyway. And a scan is only good for that exact moment, it doesn't tell you everything is going to be fine next week or in two weeks or whatever. Some people have early scans then still have a loss later. So I don't see the point and don't think it would be helpful. I am just crossing my fingers and will wait until my dating scan assuming all goes well til then. I have to admit every time I go the toilet I check for blood but more like I'm just expecting my period to arrive at some point! It's so weird because I forget I'm pregnant and life goes on, which is a totally new experience for me as I was bed bound by now with both my previous ones.

JamesPringle · 23/02/2024 09:25

Had hyperemesis with the first, constant vomiting and hospital stays. Nothing at all with the second. And sickness was back for the third! They were all born healthy and lovely- And still are!

JC084 · 23/02/2024 09:32

I've been wondering the same thing recently. With my first I was never sick, but constantly felt nauseous from quite early on.
Currently 6+3 but no real symptoms other than tiredness and feeling a bit sick in the evenings.
Have had 3 losses since having my first and so am pretty nervous this time round

InTheRainOnATrain · 23/02/2024 09:40

Yes me! First was a girl, second a boy so IDK if it was a different mix of hormones kicking about maybe? I had scans at 7.5 and 11 weeks though, as is standard pregnancy care where I was living so thankfully not a long wait for the first ultrasound.

Nuglife123 · 23/02/2024 12:16

Severe sickness with my first, all the way through to delivery. Currently 37 weeks with no2 and although I was sick a bit at first it was no where near as bad and all is OK so far 🤞

Dyra · 23/02/2024 13:36

I went from having some morning sickness with DD/DC1, to virtually none at all with DS/DC2. As with others, the fatigue and pains were much worse with DC2 though.

Luluem · 23/02/2024 13:45

Strong nausea (though not HG) first time round til about 14w, this time all disappeared by 9w, so I had a similar worry to you. Thankfully had a 10w scan and NIPT which has put my mind at rest 🤞🏻

MabelMaybe · 23/02/2024 13:45

I had morning sickness with DC 1 but nothing with DC2. Googling led me to believe there's a higher rate of miscarriage in a morning sickness-free pregnancy, which concerned me as DH and I were both older parents so there's already an increased risk. Baby was fine though.

DinnaeFashYersel · 23/02/2024 13:48

I've had 4 pregnancies - 2 babies, 2 mcs. No sickness with anyone of them. Sickness is not an indicator of whether the pregnancy will be successful or not.

Sauvblanctime · 23/02/2024 13:53

4 pregnancies, I was never, ever, sick

HippyChickMama · 23/02/2024 14:08

It was the other way round for me, a bit of nausea in first pregnancy (ds) but no sickness, was exhausted and very sore breasts. Second pregnancy (dd), I vomited several times a day until 16 weeks, but not especially tired and no breast tenderness. A friend had hyperemesis in her first pregnancy that resulted in several episodes of hospitalisation, second pregnancy no sickness at all (both boys). Every pregnancy is different @Mmmmpavlova, it's understandable that you're worried after a loss but I hope you can take some reassurance from the posts here Flowers

Same for me with the girl then boy!

CrazyCatLadySuitsMe · 23/02/2024 14:48

I was really sick for the first 25 weeks with DS, and absolutely fine with DD

Yes, googling was also less than reassuring for me! But this thread has given me more reasons to be optimistic, so thank you everyone - really.

PleaseletitbeSpring · 24/02/2024 17:28

DC1 I was sick a few times.
DC2 I was sick from before period was due right the way through until birth.
DC3 I felt nausea once.

So when I had a boy my sickness was non stop. With the girls it was bearable. My friend had nothing with boys and severe sickness with her girl.

Mmmmpavlova · 08/03/2024 23:22

Hello all, just wanted to update and tell you that I had my first ultrasound today and there's a healthy little 9 week old pregnancy in there - I can't believe it!

I thought my update might help anyone in a similar boat. The replies on this thread really helped to calm me down two weeks ago, and for that I am so grateful - but naturally some worry still niggled at me until today. The relief I'm feeling now is something else!
