Thanks @PeppedUp - I had them after my last c section for 2 weeks and hated it as well! Apparently need to keep it up until mid- June now 🙄😩

@SarahB88 ive not had that but I’m sure they’ll get you into a plan or get you the right meds to help asap!

Yourowgirl · 01/03/2024 15:46

Hi all, hope you're doing OK. Great to read that your little one's growth is back on track @Athena1984
I am 27+2 and have developed a new symptom this week. Sometimes finding it very uncomfortable to sit upright, even on a sofa, particularly after eating. I'm sure it's just due to baby getting bigger and squashing things in there, but I anticipate it's only going to get worse with plenty of weeks still to go. Just looking to share rather than for any advice here 😅
Also to contribute to the discussion on movements (thanks all that shared their experiences and also the booklet), I actually became slightly concerned that mine might be moving too much the other day! Usually it is very active in the morning and evening and I just get intermittent nudges during the day but I had strong movement all day without a break (no caffeine or anything to explain it). This was a change in pattern for me and I rang triage just to chat it through. The midwife was really kind and advised me to monitor for the evening and call back if there was no change. I went for a walk (which I provided should have done before calling) and baby started to chill out/sleep. Last two days have been back to normal. Just wanted to share in case it reassures anyone about lots of movement. I love feeling baby move so I never imagined that it would cause me concern, guess I should just accept that motherhood will always give me some reason to worry!

PeppedUp · 01/03/2024 16:18

@cosylife its such a long time - I really feel for you. I’m dreading the idea that I might have to do it again even for a couple of weeks. Hopefully it gets easier for you with time - the build up to it was nearly always worse for me than the jab.

Colourfulflowers · 02/03/2024 03:24

Hey everyone 🌷

Reading through the last week and relating to so much of what your saying!!
Had a scan this week and baby is doing well. Currently in a breach position, although the sonographer said it’s still early so hopefully baby will shift round!
Size of baby was 1.3kg (28wks), so on the upper end.
Currently feeling very uncomfortable in my body, achy back, legs, feeling very stretched and tired, and not sleeping well! Work has also been stressful recently which isn’t helping. When are ladies planning to take leave from work? I’m thinking 2 weeks before my due date, assuming baby’s on time 😂

@Yourowgirl I've noticed that happen too. I’ve had some days where baby is super active all day and through the night and others where baby is quite chilled! I’ve felt worried a few times too but my checks have all been good. Hope you’re doing ok 🌼

Has anyone put any thought into what they will dress their babies in for sleep yet? My c section is scheduled for May 7th and it's already very warm in our bedroom so I'm just keen to understand the best options for temperature. Have seen all the guides etc online but still worry about them being too hot as obviously that's so important to avoid!

I was originally looking at the Love2Dream swaddles but now I'm not sure I like the idea of her being so restricted. Now I'm looking at other sleeping bags that don't have the arms in. I think I'll worry too much about blankets getting misplaced to go with the more traditional option. What's everyone else thinking!?

Separately I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes on Monday so just getting my head around that!

Hope everyone has nice weekends Flowers

Emmacb82 · 02/03/2024 13:55

I am a fan of swaddling but I’ve never used one of the shop bought swaddles. I usually dress baby in a vest and baby gro, swaddle with a cellular blanket and then another blanket over the top but depends on how hot the room is etc. Thats always worked for me. I have got a couple of thin sleeping bags with arms for when she’s a bit bigger and then will move over to the traditional sleeping bags. I usually only swaddle for the first few weeks whilst they sleep in the Moses basket. But not all babies are a fan of it so depends on baby as well!

Sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes, hopefully they will give you good support and all should resolve itself once baby is here. Can imagine it’s information overload though x

Toda11 · 04/03/2024 09:35

We are planning to get a few of the Tommee Tippee swaddle sleeping bags in various thicknesses to allow for temp differences. They come with guidance on thickness and what the baby should wear based on multiple different temps. This combined with a gro egg will be our guide I imagine.

Our bedroom gets the sun in the morning so is cooler in the evening which will help.

SarahB88 · 04/03/2024 10:32

Had a growth scan this morning, was meant to be at 28 weeks but I’m 29+1 so not much of a difference.

Baby is still quite mini, just above 10th percentile on the chart now but her growth is going up fairly in line with what they’d expect so nothing to worry about. They confirmed I’m no longer classed as a low lying placenta too. Back again 5 weeks for another check.

Still waiting for my bloods from last week so we can move forward with how to deal with this low blood sugar, I suspect it’ll come back with low iron too but we’ll see. If it doesn’t I’ll be asking what we do as I feel so rubbish at the moment.

Yourowgirl · 04/03/2024 11:53

Sorry you're feeling rubbish @SarahB88 I hope the bloods come back soon with some useful suggestions of solutions. Glad there are no worries about baby's growth and that your placenta has moved. I'm having a bit of a rubbish day, after a good February. Been sick and had to take the morning off work in bed, trying to be gentle with myself

SarahB88 · 04/03/2024 12:16

@Yourowgirl oh no, sorry to hear you’re poorly :( hopefully it passes soon. I’m thinking of finishing work early today as I’m feeling so rubbish and I’ve got quite a full on day tomorrow but I’ll see how I go.

Third trimester is not easy is it!

MrsB2005 · 04/03/2024 12:35

Sorry to hear a few of you are feeling pretty rubbish!

  • I'm feeling loads better (part from the piles) and have had a bit of a "nesting spree" this weekend, the only thing is my feet / ankles are very swollen at the end of the day, I'm not overly worried but will mention it to the midwife when I see her on Wednesday.

We went to see the midwife - led birthing centre last week and it has made me realise, we will have a new baby in about 10 weeks and I really must pull my finger out as we have quite a bit I'd like to buy, Hubby spent the weekend painting the nursery.

It really doesnt seem that long ago we were all posting about our BFPs.

newbie12345678 · 04/03/2024 13:30

I'm another one feeling poorly today. Not sure if it's pregnancy related or just under the weather in a general way. Finding grappling with this gestational diabetes really tricky as well on top of my other pre-existing complications (chronic UTI). I've had to take two types of high dose antibiotics 4 x a day for my entire pregnancy for the UTI and now I have to measure my blood sugar 4 x a day too and probably will have to start more medication soon as my readings are going up! I'm so worried about the effects of the antibiotics on the baby but I'm told I have to take them and it's hopefully safe. It's all a bit stressful. I'm also quite worried about the gestational diabetes as I know it can lead to premature labour and I'm having to have a c section because they need a special team there to do the surgery because of adhesions from previous abdominal surgeries (they basically said I have to have a c section as they can't risk me needing one through the normal course of labour and the right people not being there) and if the baby comes earlier than the planned date then I'm back in that situation! Anyway, sorry for the long post - just needed to vent really! Also have really sore hips and back and just feel SO tired!

Thanks for sharing what you're planning on dressing your babies in for sleep. Really helpful! xxx

Sa11yCinnamon · 04/03/2024 13:56

Sorry to everyone who's feeling rough!

I felt terrible yesterday and spent most of the day in bed, Dr Google says starting on iron tablets can upset your stomach and make you feel sick so I think that might have been it for me. Took today's with a glass of orange juice and stayed up (took it then went back to bed yesterday) and feel ok now, touch wood.

I'm taking my second hand pram to get serviced today and just spent a good 20 minutes watching youtube videos on how to collapse it to get in the car 😂

@newbie12345678 Oh my goodness! It really sounds like you have a lot to deal with.

Please take time to relax - anything other than the health of you & your baby can wait (I know that can be harder said than done with work / home life etc etc) x

Hello, sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Just wanted to reassure you about GD, i've use it with my previous 2 pregnancies (waiting to be confirmed on this one) and the constant checking 4 times a day is tough. on top of trying to figure out what to eat without getting your sugar levels high, you'll eat one thing one day and it's fine the next day it's not. it's all because of our hormones.
towards the end of both of mine i was on insulin and it was totally out of my hands. Try not to stress and worry too much take each day as it comes. Hope it gets better for you and your UTI clears ❤️

Sa11yCinnamon · 07/03/2024 10:30

Anyone else struggling or need a wee moan?

I feel silly because there's nothing really bad going on, and people have it so much worse, but I'm finding it so hard to deal with not being able to do everything I want to do or would usually do, like be as active as I want to. I feel big and uncomfortable and tired all of the time and the thought that it will get progressively worse over the next two and a half months is worrying me a lot.

I've cried to my partner a few times recently, he's so lovely but I just feel like a broken record.

I really want to enjoy pregnancy because it might be the only time I experience it, and I am enjoying parts but F me it's a long old slog innit?! Just had to get that out 😂

SarahB88 · 07/03/2024 10:40

@Sa11yCinnamon I hear you! I’m still waiting for the rest of my blood tests to come back after being told on Friday last week that I’ve got low blood sugar.

I’ve had no advice on what I should be doing to help the situation and my midwife isn’t replying to the email I sent and I don’t have a number to contact her or chase up my results!

I feel huge (even though I know I’m not based on my measurements being small and baby is also small but I feel big for me 😩) I’m exhausted, I can’t focus at work and I’m dizzy more often than not.

We’ve got my partners nieces second birthday on Saturday and I just want to stay in bed after working all week so I really can’t be bothered. I know that sounds awful but it’s really the last thing I want to go and do when I feel like this.

MrsB2005 · 07/03/2024 10:45

@Sa11yCinnamon I've been feeling quite like that - and I'm ashamed to admit last week my DH had the brunt of my mood.

I just feel like I'm expected to carry on like pre pregnancy whilst growing this little being, I know some men struggle to understand and I have tried to put myself in his shoes but I'd quite happily bury him under the patio at least a few times a week!!

I'm struggling with the idea that I may struggle even more with doing things from now on but I'm trying to take each day as it comes and not worry myself as much (easier said than done)

X

Clarkey34 · 07/03/2024 10:51

@Sa11yCinnamon Yes! I'm exactly the same. Uncomfortable, tired and massive, but feel like I shouldn't be moaning.
I've cried on my husband too, you aren't alone.
Everyone is telling me I look big too, which isn't helping either.
These 7 weeks left at work are feeling like such a slog, I'm here in body, not necessarily mind. I don't want to finish early, as I want to be off for longer with baby.

@SarahB88 I feel exactly the same, we've got a trip up north this weekend for my nephew's 1st birthday and then mother's day on Sunday, so over to my Husbands parents.
I also just want to sleep/stay in bed at the weekend, which I also feel bad saying, but all my energy is used up working all week.

Sa11yCinnamon · 07/03/2024 10:56

@SarahB88 god that must be so frustrating, really hope you get some advice soon. I'm also quite petite so totally get what you mean about feeling huge but maybe not actually being huge.

@MrsB2005 I'm sure you have nothing to feel ashamed for and your DH understands! I think I'm the only one expecting myself to be able to carry on as normal, it might help if it was someone else and I could be angry at them 😂

@Clarkey34 I also don't want to finish early but it's getting more and more tempting! I'm due on a Tuesday and currently finishing on the Friday, but trying to go a week earlier without changing my dates.

Thank you all for replying so quickly, it's comforting to know I'm not alone xx

Yep feeling massive and uncomfortable right now! Absolutely knackered at all times and have cried several times this week too! Trying to soldier on for my 2 boys but they’ve seen me emotional many times bless them. Working nights doesn’t help either, not getting proper sleep and constantly in a state of not knowing if it’s daytime or nighttime is not helping. It will all be worth it in the end girls! We can do this x

junebuglb · 07/03/2024 16:13

Also feeling a wee bit fed up at the moment. Probably just tiredness as I can’t remember the last good nights sleep I had! We have a really busy month ahead which I think is just mentally draining me too.

Travelling six hours and back again this weekend to see friends. It should be fun but currently keeping my eyes propped open with twigs.

I tried pregnancy yoga on Monday and have to say even though it’s not my usual scene it was great. I couldn’t believe how much better my body felt afterwards- no hip pain at all on the walk back, felt totally “normal”!

Also noticing my appetite has calmed down a bit now too. Still eating more than normal but I feel like I stay full for ages and don’t need to eat big portions anymore. Probably less room now!

Sa11yCinnamon · 07/03/2024 16:28

@junebuglb I've been doing pregnancy yoga for a couple of months now and really enjoy it, even though it feels like we don't really 'do' that much it's just nice to carve out that time to focus on me and bump. My teacher also runs a couples birth workshop which my partner and I are doing on Saturday, not entirely sure what to expect but thought it would be a nice thing to do together. Also completely sympathise on the crap sleep, according to my watch I wake up twice an hour 😭

PeppedUp · 07/03/2024 23:11

I’m over pregnancy - I don’t want 11+ more weeks of it!

I’ve been getting constant coughs and colds, motion sickness on my commute and pelvic pain, which leaves me pretty limited in terms of getting out and also doing exercise.

I also worry about the sleep deprivation and relentless of the first year and how I’ll do it with a three year old and also how the reality of a newborn is going to hit him.

Is anyone else with children feeling apprehensive??

Colourfulflowers · 08/03/2024 06:38

@Sa11yCinnamon and everyone, I feel the same too!!! I feel heavy and uncomfortable. I miss exercise and being able to move about comfortably. The constant peeing, aches, not being able to sleep and lack of social life (due to my own choice, tiredness and feeling uncomfortable) is all getting me a bit down!!!! Also we are decorating so there are boxes and tools everywhere!! It feels so wrong writing that, and I’m so so grateful to be pregnant and have a little one on the way!! 💜 Thankful for this group! 💜

We start NCT classes on Tuesday too… has anyone started them yet? I’m really looking forward to being around other expecting mamas and couples, although not really sure what to expect!!
