Welcome to our new joiners and how wonderful to see the great scans yesterday!

I have a question - when should the full blown nausea really hit? I will be 7w0d tomorrow and all I really have had for the past few days is a bit of queasiness/retching after brushing my teeth. But I still have the appetite of a horse and I'm not feeling any sickness. Should it have arrived by now...?!

Lillers · 04/02/2024 18:00

@Decaffe For me it arrived at 5+4, but for some it’s earlier and some it’s later. Some people don’t get it at all!

Aubyone · 04/02/2024 18:03

Hello again, i posted once in an earlier thread but its all moved so fast, lots of lovely September babies growing!

I am only 6+3 so very early and that makes my due date at end of September (26th) BUT i had my first at 37weeks so I'll be honest i'm expecting an early to mid September baby but we'll see!

I'm really struggling with nausea and fatigue these last few days. Its so familiar from last time but I'd forgotten just how obsessed about food I become - like constantly thinking 'what do i fancy? What would not make me feel sick?' and really wanting to eat but then everything is disappointing and makes me feel sick. Crumpets seem to go down best at the mo!

Dreading the next few days as at least for the last few days my toddler was in nursey Thurs/Fri and then husband has been great over the weekend but not sure how I'm gonna get through Mon-Wed this week! Think I'm going to force myself to get to all his usual baby classes etc in the mornings, hope he has a long nap and then rely on Ms Rachel/Mr Tumble for the afternoon!

I haaaaaaate feeling sick but i am reminding myself that last time i was lucky and it went away around Week 10 and then i felt good until about week 34 so fingers crossed it's just a few weeks of this. I've got a private scan on Thursday but I'll only be 7weeks but hopefully it will still be reassuring. Last time i had one at 8.5weeks and was shocked to see him actually in the shape of a teeny tiny baby.

Anyone else will have a 2 yr age gap? I realise thats pretty common but i am freaking out slightly! My son is 16mo so it will be almost exactly 2 year gap!

Take care ladies and hoping some of you earlier September ladies might be getting out of the nausea zone by now!

Aubyone · 04/02/2024 18:08

@Decaffe lots of women don't experience any nausea so you might just get away with it, certainly don't worry about lack of nausea i know loads who really didn't feel much. For me last time it was minor from Week 5 and peaked Weeks 6-10 but pretty much eased then. I'm 6+3 and its bad right now.

MudandMoet · 04/02/2024 18:09

@smbr @HRP1990 @Fik88 pleased there's a few of us the same. I imagined everyone else sat there eating platefuls of greens and goodness while I've eaten every salty shitty carb known to man recently 😂 hopefully a mid week check in to see how all the goodness is going down 🤞🏼 xx

Also my right cheek has 2 new spots on too! Food or hormones probably but can't wait for them to clear up!

@VT6 as in... it's hit home that you're going to have a little baby and it's all so real now? I did! Then I got super excited a few days after and haven't stopped looking at baby things online since 😂

@Decaffe I was wondering the same, I'm 10+3 and thinking could it still come or if I've not had it by now have I got lucky and not going to get it? (Naive as ever probably!) had a few weeks of nausea, not been sick just felt sickly a few weeks back.

Xur · 04/02/2024 18:13

@Decaffe
my peak nausea was in week 7. Week 8 I had barely any and today I’m entering 9 weeks and had no nausea at all.

@MudandMoet I also wondered if I have two at the start because of the sensations and my tests were convincing (even the one with the lines, I just did one and that was convincing enough. But I obviously do not have two.
So my midwife came today, very interesting is that apparently we manage our own midwife appointments. So for the 16 week one I will have to ring I. To reception and book myself in, like I did with the first one. I find this very strange

Lillers · 04/02/2024 18:15

@Aubyone We’ve got the same dates - I’m also 6+3 with an estimated due date of 26th! My sister’s 40th birthday is on the 24th - I remember a couple of years ago she floated the idea of everyone going away to celebrate her 40th, and I very flippantly said, “I’ll probably end up having a baby that day or something” (making the point that it was way too far in advance to commit to anything) and now I’m wondering if that’s actually exactly what will happen 😂

siobhanmt247 · 04/02/2024 18:19

@decaffe i didnt have any nausea in my last pregnancy. Very nerve wracking but the pregnancy went well and she was fine

@Aubyone i have a 14 month old so there will be a 22 month age gap

VT6 · 04/02/2024 18:36

@MudandMoet yes exactly that! Like oh my I’m going to be turning 30 with a two week old baby 🫣
I can’t wait to go shopping!

VT6 · 04/02/2024 18:38

@Oran333 not sure if it’s different in NI but I think you need to be seen for certain tests before 10 weeks

Martibum · 04/02/2024 18:39

@FuppinNora I referred myself to the maternity hospital, I think I emailed them on the 27th of December. I didn't actually getting seeing my gp until I was over 7 weeks as the clinic was closed. So glad i went ahead with the private scan! If you have health insurance, they cover 1 private scan.
Ill be just over 13 weeks before my hospital scan. With my daughter, I was nearly 15 weeks before I was scanned. @Oran333

hol92 · 04/02/2024 18:52

@Decaffe non of my friends had any nausea at all :) it's completely normal :) mine hit hard around 6 weeks and now I feel awful and can't wait for it to be gone so I can enjoy things again 😂 I had it with my first bad so knew I would again, I think you just either get it or you don't, it can also be down to genetics x

hol92 · 04/02/2024 18:59

@Aubyone as I was reading your message it felt like I had write it myself haha I have an estimated due date the same as you and also had my first at 37 weeks he's 10 months now so will have a year and half age gap so I know what you mean by freaking out a little 🤣

Also had a private scan at 9 weeks last time and remember him looking like a gummy bear! I'm thinking lf doing it around the same time this time just because I'm impatient to see if all is okay!

Also with you on ms Rachel in the afternoons 🤣🤣 it's so hard feeling so sick with a little one isn't it, as soon as I open my eyes the nausea hits and I just wish the day away for bed time again and I feel so guilty for it! X

Queijo · 04/02/2024 19:21

Oh my word this nausea is horrendous this evening, constantly gagging and feeling so sick but never throwing up. I hope this passes quickly because I’m very bored of it already!

Lovely to see all the scans 😍

MrsB2019x · 04/02/2024 19:24

@MudandMoet I’m on the beige train too, also constantly eating take outs and convenience food. We ordered Greggs on Uber eats the other day 🙈 so much beige but it was soooooo good. I think first trimester is just about survival and consuming whatever our bodies are willing to tolerate!

@Decaffe I’m 9+4 and I felt worse during week 8. I’m not counting my chickens though because I had this with DD then started vomiting at 10 weeks when I should have been getting better 🙈

UrsulaSings123 · 04/02/2024 19:54

I haven't had any sickness, which has just been adding to my anxiety! But it sounds like I'm pretty lucky. Last time I only felt a bit sick for a few weeks and then it went so hopefully it's just that I don't tend to get sick.

californiacooper · 04/02/2024 20:04

Oh my goodness so many messages to catch up on!!!

@Decaffe I'm not feeling sick at all. I'm hopefully somewhere between 6-7 weeks now. It's a bit worrying. But my boobs are sore so I'm hoping that's enough of a sign there's something going on hormonally, and I can't sleep through the night. Also drinking about 3L of water a day, anyone else?!

@MudandMoet I had a full hour long nap this afternoon and it was wonderful. (I am a habitual napper anyway so this isn't out of place but at least I didn't feel guilty about it today!)

@Sydney1988 thank you for the recommendation, I'll get that one (I think I got a different one off Amazon but it's only a month supply so I'll get another one too)

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow re coQ10, I'll definitely ask a doctor if/when I see one as I've only recently started taking that and I'd like to continue if it's safe - do you know why you were advised to carry on?

Welcome to all the newbies, and oooh our first set of twins (I think!) how exciting! I always wanted twins when I was a little girl, and I was a twin (unfortunately my sibling didn't make it, my mum apparently didn't know she was carrying twins until she miscarried and was found to be still pregnant...) and due to the IVF I thought there was a chance I might have two, but I am relieved there looks to be one.

I've got SUCH a busy week at work this week it's super full on which is probably good as it's going to make Thursday (scan day and hopefully find out if I have a viable bean) come around quickly.

I haven't been back to the gym since last Sunday (I wonder if that's what caused the bleed I had) because I'm a bit worried until I have that scan but I'm feeling really like I need to move my body around a bit. Might try some yoga. Anyone do yoga?? I have but not for a few years so don't know what should be avoided.

Is it bed time yet??

MudandMoet · 04/02/2024 20:15

@Xur so she turned up then! I have to book my next MW appointment too I think, I need to check this but I'm sure it's something I have to instigate.

@VT6 me too! I just want to buy something, anything!!!

@MrsB2019x greggs is probably the only one I've missed this weekend but now you've mentioned it, I could just eat one 😫! Definitely agree though, get through this stage and there's still plenty of time to catch up with the healthy stuff.

MudandMoet · 04/02/2024 20:18

@californiacooper Brilliant! I managed a little 30 mins snooze too which is rare for me but it felt bloody grand after last night! I could get used to it! 🤞🏼 for a better one tonight.

hol92 · 04/02/2024 20:29

I just wondered if anyone had a c section before if this isn't there first? I ended up having one and it's been really sore the last few days, I'm only between 6/7 weeks so am not sure if it's normal for it to be hurting, so wondered if anyone else has experienced it? X

Lillers · 04/02/2024 20:49

@californiacooper I do yoga (although I haven’t since I found out about the pregnancy - think a downward dog would be very risky when feeling nauseas!)

The main things for pregnancy from what I’ve read are that you should avoid deep twists and anything that uses your abdominals (eg planks). Let your instructor know and they should be able to give you safe adaptations - if you’re planning on doing it from home, there are specific pregnancy-safe videos online.

SC126 · 04/02/2024 20:49

@hol92 i did alas it was over 5 year ago since my c section. I’ve had no issues with the scar so far but it could just be normal stretching pains for you. When I went for my private scan they could see I had a previous c section due to scaring on the ultrasound and they were happy the embryo implanted away from that area.

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 04/02/2024 20:51

@californiacooper it’s part of my dr’s standard protocol. I know it’s meant to boost cell quality (which is why it is good for egg quality) so I assume must also benefit the growing baby. I can ask at my next appointment. I took it in both my last pregnancies too.

Congrats @Martibum! My siblings are twins and we have a strong family history on my mum’s side - she has 3 x sets of twin cousins and one of them has twins too. I was convinced I would have twins but DC1 and 2 were singletons. So far my symptoms have been worse than DC1 (boy) but not as bad as DC2 (girl) so I don’t think I have 2 in there but guess will
find out next week.

californiacooper · 04/02/2024 20:52

I have cramping and some light bleeding again 😭😭😭 can this honestly be totally normal?? It's only a little bit of blood but it's so unsettling. The sonographer said that people can literally bleed full sanitary towels and the fetus is still ok. Has anyone else got cramping, and light bleeding/tinged pink discharge (sorry tmi). I know there's nothing I can do but wait until next Thursday. This is the exact same time it happened last week (literally to the hour)

😣😣😣 I don't like this.
(First pregnancy for any of the newbies with us who missed my dramas this time last week)

Yes if they've said it's OK I should think it is OK, but I totally get it I'd be stressing so much. I have had pains in my lower far right and far left side and they've booked me in for a scan on Tuesday, but so far no bleeding.
