Congratulations to all those who have had their babies already. I'm 38weeks today and was hoping for baby to be born yesterday on my sisters birthday as she gave birth onnkinen3 years ago. Didn't happen!

Cheetocat · 29/01/2024 23:49

I'm only bringing newborn size to the hospital, we have different sizes at home that my partner can grab if we need it but most babies fit in newborn for at least a few weeks, remember that they lose different amounts of weight after birth too so whatever weight people tell you their baby was might not accurately match up with what size their baby was wearing.

RachLeeds · 30/01/2024 00:54

I’m taking mainly newborn bits, but I have a pack of 0-3 baby grows and 1 x small baby grow in my bag too, so hopefully something will fit!

msp2023 · 30/01/2024 01:09

Hi ladies.
I've just had some watery-ish discharge with a slight tinge of blood.
I'm getting sudden cramps/pain in the area where my stomach and pubic region meet - every ten mins or so.
Does this sound like contractions?! I'm so confused because I anticipated it would be more like period pains but they're much lower down than my stomach.

First timer here so probably overthinking everything 😩

Mangotango39 · 30/01/2024 01:41

I have packed newborn - I don't think this chunk will get much use out of them so they can squish in for a few days hopefully so they don't go to waste haha!

@msp2023 I'd call your birth suite see what they might say , could be any time now for us all xx

novamama · 30/01/2024 03:32

@msp2023 how's it going? Hope you're well!

Hopefully you called labour unit? Please call them with any symptoms you have questions about.
Hope you’re okay?

I'll try to remember to ask the midwife this later in the week but just wondering if anyone here knows;
obviously having a sweep can bring on a show/bleeding.... I'm rhesus negative and had the anti d and was told that if I bleed at all I'll need another injection... does anyone know whether I actually will need 1 or cos it's normal after a sweep then I'll be ok/covered still?

You definitely need to speak to your doctor or midwife today.

I absolutely love this group for support - but get really nervous when I see medical posts.

CharXo · 30/01/2024 07:39

1.5 more days of work and I’m so excited to finally have a lay in Thursday morning 😂 it’s the little things isn’t it!

Meeting · 30/01/2024 07:59

Hope you managed to speak to someone and are doing well @msp2023 x

I agree with @redxlondon if anyone has any worries or concerns, just give them a call. Even if it feels like a stupid question or a waste of time you will never be treated that way and it's always best to check with people who deal with pregnant women every day

babythreeincoming · 30/01/2024 08:08

@CheeseAndCrackersx I'm O- and never got the injection after a sweep with my first (I had some bleeding and the same when my mucus plug came away). Definitely worth checking with your midwife though 🥰

babythreeincoming · 30/01/2024 08:12

@Hankthehonk That's great you have your date and you never know baby may just move! I think I am still in shock that the scan I had yesterday showed baby as head down because everything still feels the same 😂

@Ch49091 Congratulations 🎉

@msp2023 Have things progressed?

LavenderSweetPea · 30/01/2024 08:33

@CharXo don't count on getting that maternity leave 😂my first day off was meant to Monday. Baby didn't want to miss it 😅

Seriously though, I hope you get a chance to have a bit of final you time before baby arrives!

Mangotango39 · 30/01/2024 09:00

I am loving mat leave!

Everything is set up now, I have around 20 meals made and prepped in the freezer. Just need to do a big clean when I can muster up the energy and I am all set.

Sunday is our final night without baby (again if nothing happens) , we are going to get our favourite takeaway and sit on the beach at sunset (sorry not winter here!) and enjoy the very last moments.

AllAboardTootToot · 30/01/2024 09:48

oh that sounds bliss @Mangotango39. Hopefully little one sticks to the schedule 😂😂

@babythreeincoming I am feeling good about the section decision, especially now it has sunk in! So chuffed for you that baby has moved. I wasn't totally sure but not surprised that mine hadn't. They said yesterday there's less than 5% chance of him moving to head down naturally now due to his size and position - he's stuck 😂
We were saying it seemed weird there were so many breech babies on this thread but seems like everyone else's are being good and turning. I guess I'm the statistic! Anyone else still got a breech one?

Very jealous of all those already on mat leave, Thursday is my last day and it can't come quick enough. I was already feeling ready to stop but being at the hospital for hours yesterday and making plans for the section etc makes it all feel so real and it's extremely hard to focus on work this morning.

msp2023 · 29/01/2024 21:49

@CalFairy hi there! Baby is predicted to be on the cusp of 8lbs; I've packed mainly 0-1m and then a few 0-3m just in case! I didn't even get any 'newborn' sizes as they didn't look that different to 0-1m. I might regret it but bigger is better I suppose!

TBF sleeves roll up and slightly too big is okay. Mine was a tiny 7lb baby and we only had two newborn outfits, the rest was 1 months and 0-3 months.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 30/01/2024 10:21

@LavenderSweetPea were you the one using the Aniball? And no tears, quick labour?

I've only done a couple sessions on mine and only got the balloon to 23cm 😩 I need to give it some more goes

amyg1985 · 30/01/2024 10:28

23cm sounds really good @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 - I've only done a few and I'm at 19cm. I think just practicing the action/breathing helps. Has given me alot of confidence as a first time mum x

Mangotango39 · 30/01/2024 10:30

@Hankthehonk to be fair, I moved my mat leave forward when I found out baby was coming early due to my insulin, I don't think I'd have risked finishing at 36 weeks if I might have gone over due! I'd be bored by then aha!

Yeah I'd agree, it's the hypnobirthing breathing it out, and moving the baby up and down just with pelvic floor and breathwork. I'll keep going. It's quite nice to escape for half and hour and read a book or listen to a podcast

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 30/01/2024 10:35

@amyg1985 I did use it in my first pregnancy but was a lot more dedicated, and I do think it really worked for me then. Was more controlled in active labour, nand didn't tear even with back to back birth. I think it will really help you

LavenderSweetPea · 30/01/2024 10:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes I probably managed 7or 8 sessions with the aniball before baby came. I got to 25cm on my very last session which is technically what they recommend although I had planned to go to 27-28ish if time had allowed.

I can't say I felt pushing a baby out was anything like using the aniball, but I did feel much much less worried about tearing, and was very familiar with the sensation when the head was stretching the perineum so didn't panic and push too hard at that point so it definitely helped.

amyg1985 · 30/01/2024 11:32

Thanks for sharing @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @LavenderSweetPea - it was quite an expensive investment but anything to give me some confidence! Will keep going. 38 weeks today so hopefully still have some time

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 30/01/2024 11:36

@LavenderSweetPea oh that's brilliant! No the head is definitely quite a bit bigger than the 25 cm they recommend, but you're right about the sensation of stretching and slowing it down.

Hope you're getting on okay post birth with your little one x
