@PeeBeee i have an under active thyroid too, had since I was 18. On 200mg Levo daily, has anyone mentioned anything to you about having the baby tested to see if they have it genetically? I read about something on day 9, but assume this is once they’ve been registered with a gp. My midwife didn’t no squat and said ask in post natal once the babies born.

40+2 today and trying my best to distract myself, so nauseous and emotionally, broke down with midwife yesterday as I declined a sweep and had so much pressure put on Me. Now booked on for Thursday for a sweep which I’ll probably decline and induction on 26th which I also don’t want

PeeBeee · 16/02/2024 16:47

@Gardenfingers23 on way to eou, blood pressure has went up to 145/91 so nurse called eou with me in the room and they want me to come up, happy birthday to me!🙃

@Hawk901 oh no ive never heard of that! I will mention it this time! I was only borderline when starting ttc. I needed 75mg in first pregnancy and I am on 125mg in this pregnancy

Thewildthingsarewithme · 16/02/2024 18:12

@Gardenfingers23 how did your sweep go? Really hope you get the birth you want, you still have time!

Gardenfingers23 · 16/02/2024 18:19

@Thewildthingsarewithme unfortunately cervix is pretty closed so they couldn’t do it so think it’s unlikely we see much change in next 3 days.

@PeeBeee hope you’re ok and getting checked over. Fingers crossed nothing serious for you

PeeBeee · 16/02/2024 18:53

@Gardenfingers23 bp readings in eou where 128 over something, 133 over something and 115 over something 🙈i looked like an idiot! Looks like docs surgery should have took a few readings! So heading home now, thank god as i panicked and brought my bags and not even sure what was in them tbh😅looks like babys staying until my elcs on Tuesday so will sort bags tomorrow!! Eeek🥰

mummylove24 · 16/02/2024 19:30

I managed to get a sweep yesterday 😫 uurgh had to ask midwife to stop, I was 1cm already but it’s was so uncomfortable, but she stopped as soon as I asked. I had lots a cramps last night tiny bit of pink blood. Some cramps today especially after bouncing on my ball. I’m booked in Tuesday at 40w for induction, but really want baby to come on her own and noo I’m not doing another sweep noooope 😅

Ebonythoughts · 17/02/2024 03:01

Hi all,

A whirlwind 24 hours. Waters broke (with meconium), followed by 10 hours of induction, finally resulting in a c-section. I am exhausted but grateful that my baby girl Hayat finally arrived safely. We are both well. I’ll share the birth story one day when I’ve had a chance to fully process but wanted to thank you for the love and support ❤️

Thewildthingsarewithme · 17/02/2024 06:30

Congratulations @Ebonythoughts on the safe arrival of your little girl ❤️

anony1111 · 17/02/2024 10:29

Congratulations @Ebonythoughts 💕 I hope you and baby girl are all well and I hope you are managing to get some much deserved rest

mummylove24 · 17/02/2024 10:40

Congratulations @Ebonythoughts 💖🎉

Mismatc · 17/02/2024 12:58

I haven’t caught up on messages. My waters went at 37+6 on Monday, I was induced on Tuesday using dilapan rods as I am a VBAC and I hadn’t gone into labour. Had her later that day in the water with no medical intervention beyond the mechanical induction by the rods. I was so lucky — physiological third stage, minimal blood loss and no stiches. She has been feeding continuously ever since and I’m in love

Mismatc · 17/02/2024 12:59

I had her Tuesday evening at 38 weeks

LavenderSweetPea · 17/02/2024 14:19

Congratulations @Ebonythoughts and @Mismatc and also so pleased for you @Mismatc that you were able to have your birth without intervention as you wanted. Both you ladies have done so well and I hope your babies are thriving 💕

mummylove24 · 17/02/2024 22:31

I think things have started I’m getting painful cramp like period pains lasting exactly 30 seconds every average 4 minutes before I got in the bath, it’s now slowed down about 15 mins. Is this it? I was really active today way too much bending over 🤦‍♀️

Ebonythoughts · 18/02/2024 00:02

Second night in hospital post section with baby and struggling with lack of sleep. She is latching and feeding wonderfully but as I’m trying to exclusively breastfeed, I’ve realised it more than feeding. She wants to constantly be skin to skins and sleep on my breasts. Every time I settle her and get ready to rest she starts crying and won’t stop until she’s near my breasts. Even if she doesn’t want to feed, she only sleeps when she’s near my chest so I need up staying awake holding her so she can sleep. I am exhausted and a result feel really light headed and have a headache. Midwives around me keep trying to settle him in the cot but when she doesn’t stop they get her out and pass her me to put on my chest again.

I’m really exhausted and need to sleep, what can I do?

Thewildthingsarewithme · 18/02/2024 00:07

@Ebonythoughts cam you ask them to help you swaddle her to see if that helps. Also if she’s in a hospital crib you can usually rock them back and forth which can work or keep your hand on her tummy xx

Hi,

Yes, we’ve been swaddling, but I’m still not very mobile post surgery and it hurts to try and pick her up so the midwives have been wonderful in picking her up for me and either putting her down or picking her down for me and settling her because the bedside crib doesn’t rock.

I was struggling tonight with a headache due to lack of sleep so the team walked around with her for me for an hour so I could sleep but that wasn’t nearly enough and now I’m back up and feeding again. Just want to go home now so hubby can help because I’m exhausted.

tell me it gets easier please.

@Ebonythoughts sounds like second night syndrome, where baby tries to stimulate your milk coming in https://www.babycenter.com/baby/month-by-month/second-night-syndrome_41001472
It's really tough but it defo gets easier. Is it possible for a partner or relative to come in and take the baby for another hour or so? Postnatal wards aren't places you get much sleep at the best of times.
Do you think you might get home tomorrow? Sack off any visitors and feed baby then hand over to someone to hold (this will help them settle better) and you sleep in 1-2 hour stretches in between feeds and it does add up.
Hope you manage some more rest, make sure you ask for some pain relief as well.

oh I’ve never heard of that thank you! It might be it! I’m still quite sore so not sure if they let me go but I have asked if I can go home today because visiting time here ends at 8pm and that’s when I need the most help. I know it’ll definitely get easier at home with more support and opportunities to rest. I’ve asked all friends and extended family to please give me a week or two to settle at home before visiting because I need to rest and settle with baby first, everyone’s been really understanding about it x

novamama · 18/02/2024 05:01

@Ebonythoughts I am sorry it's so challenging at the moment, I am with you!

My baby girl had more of a first day syndrome - she fed from 23:00 until 7:00 in the morning, like you say latching beautifully and suckling with all her might. She then slept most of the next morning.

It does get better. As soon as your milk comes in they become a bit more satisfied and sleep longer stretches.

What to do now? I was recommended to hand express some colostrum and top up with a syringe so her tummy feels a bit fuller - I never did this in the end because I struggled to harvest colostrum, but maybe you could give it a try. The other thing is we used a pacifier for a brief time to settle her just so I can get a bit of sleep, as you say, I was also actually collapsing.

You've got this mama. It will get better.❤️‍🩹

@Ebonythoughts emergency c section here too, I'm on day 3 recovery, and its so so rough. I've not known pain like recovering from the section. They let me out of hospital the day after it, I just expedited my walk around and two 250 ml pee tests post catheter. Feel so much better at home. Don't know what the tests are to be discharged in your trust?

Echoing PP, did you take colostrum in? If not they should have some syringes you can use - I found that really useful in that someone else could do a little feed and I could rest for a bit - was painful keep levering myself up from sitting to laying. It does get better honestly - days 2-4 are apparently peak pain. I was lucky though that my partner could stay over with me and didn't have to go home, so I could rely on him rather than midwives.

So sorry you're having a rough time of it. Sending love

DmcinT · 18/02/2024 06:53

@Ebonythoughts I’m so sorry ur struggling, honestly this was exactly me too and no1 mentioned the day/night 2 feeding frenzy to bring in ur milk but once I’d mentioned it to a few friends they had all gone through it.

just a little update as I haven’t been on in over a week. I had reduced movement & went to maternity, they started induction a day later, contractions started coming thick & heavy last Sunday, long story short that continued until Tuesday night when baby girls heart rate started to dip and it ended in emergency CS just after midnight (so a Valentine’s Day girl for us☺️) the cord was caught around her holding her up so she couldn’t get down into the birth canal (poor wee thing, it breaks my heart to think of her being pulled down & not able to get down🥺) anyways she is absolutely perfect & thank god it caused no harm. I’m so in love with her & can’t stop just looking at her and holding her close to me🥹

the feeding is intense, my milk came in Friday night and that’s made things much easier, shorter feeds (15/20 mins) then she’ll sleep for roughly 3 hrs but Wednesday- Friday she fed nonstop, I was completely exhausted, it’s such a blur. Getting home helped and I found propping myself & her up with loads of pillows in the hospital helped. So if I fell asleep feeding she was fine & couldn’t go anywhere, just lay on boob feeding.

congrats to all the new mamas since I’ve been on, I can’t believe we’re finally here with babas in our arms. This group has been such a reassuring support over the last 9+ months, I’m in if there’s a separate group to carry on or if a WhatsApp is easier, it would be lovely to have that continued support from everyone going through the same stages 🩷

lots of February babies still to be born too🥰 hope anyone waiting is doing ok, the last few weeks are tough going xxx

undercoverhero74 · 18/02/2024 08:12

@mummylove24 how's it's all going? It does sound very much like the start of things! Good luck!! X

undercoverhero74 · 18/02/2024 08:20

Congratulations @DmcinT on your valentines baby and all the other babies that have been born. I'm still waddling around like a hippo misinterpreting every little twinge and pain 😂😂 how many of us are still waiting??

Ebonythoughts · 18/02/2024 08:40

Thank you for your replies. I couldn’t express Colostrum before I had her so didn’t bring anything in. She’s latching perfectly for feeing but then lingers on the breast to sleep and I realised she’s was sucking just the nipple for comfort. Now my nipples really hurt and I want my husband for some nipple cream, hope it helps.

The hospital I’m at said that to be discharged mine and baby’s obs need to be ok and we both need to have done a wee and stool before we can go. Baby girl is good to go but I’m heart rate is a bit high so not sure if they’ll let me go home today otherwise it’ll be tomorrow.

Really hope my milk comes in soon so I can use the breast pump and be able to hopefully get enough to do one bottle feed a day at least so my husband and family can do a feed while I get some clear.

Congratulations to everyone who has their babies. Sending you all so much love! ❤️
