@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes next Wednesday she will examine me again (if nothing has happened between now & then) and depending on how my cervix is will offer me a s&s.. I suppose in meantime whilst baby is still inside that it's giving me the extra days to get stuff done around the house but it seems never ending doesn't it! & don't want to exhaust myself out so when I get pains or feel tired I'm just sitting down & resting.. wow still working full time! how come you haven't taken your maternity leave yet may I ask? x

Callmemummynotmaaa · 01/02/2024 10:37

I’m 39+ weeks! Finished in work yesterday, and wfh finalizing paperwork today/tomorrow. A/L booked for Monday. Having contractions but not meaningful. Am back with the midwife tomorrow and scheduled for an ELCS (3rd baby, 2 previous were EMCS) on Tuesday. Seems so strange for me to be going into birth, not necessarily wanting to labour! Know VBAC in my position makes no sense this time (all of my previous deliveries have failed at the same point; for a known reason connected to my medical history). I know I CANT try but still find myself watching for every “sign” 😂

Ihatewinding · 01/02/2024 10:43

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that is a lot on! Maybe when you finish work and catch your breath then baby will decide that's the best time to come haha.
Just out of interest did you request the sweep or was it part of your plan before you became low risk?

Pubic bone pain so bad now. I've eaten so much pineapple and that with spicy food is setting off my heartburn Confused now trying to avoid taking paracetamol also in case any accuracy to the research that suggests it inhibits prostaglandins and so reduces cervical dilation. But this means I'm resting more and now baby has flipped back to back after managing with exercises to at least get him into middle ground. So annoyed! Blood pressure starting to creep up but think it's just stress really but keeping an eye on it, not sure if just want to be induced now. Currently 39+1 but so ready for baby to come.

Also congrats to the new mums and wishing well for recoveries Flowers

anony1111 · 01/02/2024 10:57

I had my 36w midwife appointment this morning, we discussed the size of baby and my midwife has agreed to induction on my due date if I haven't had him before. I will have a sweep at 39 weeks which hopefully might set things off naturally but if not induction the following week (26th Feb)
It's made me feel much more relaxed as my anxiety was sky high due to knowing baby boy was big and previous big baby too.

I hope everyone is doing well, these last few weeks with all the aches and pains can be tough but we are nearly their ladies ❤️

Kelb79 · 01/02/2024 11:08

Thanks for your thoughts lovelies ❤️❤️
😵‍💫😵‍💫 I’m trying so hard to not let the stress and emotion of everything with my Dad get to me but things keep getting worse. My eldest brother was being tested for a potential stroke 2 days ago (we think the stress of worrying about him probably contributed to my dads stroke), the doctors were a bit crap and signed it off as possible dementia with more tests required.
but he got blue lighted to hospital yesterday too now, it’s turned out he’s got advanced brain cancer and a bleed on the brain. And he’s refusing treatment as he’s had cancer treatment before and always swore he’d never go through that again 😞
he’s in the same hospital as Dad but I darent give updates to Dad as he’s not out of the woods yet at all 😵‍💫

I was keeping my head above water and not letting the stress and worry get me but Dad called me late last night all confused and telling me that he was home, that he’d walked back and he could hear me talking in the next room 😵‍💫 sent me right over the edge!

tried to get a good nights sleep but woke up actually choking on acid reflux and throwing up all over myself and the bed 😳😳 it was really scary, I couldn’t catch my breath. Anyone else had anything like this? I slept completely sat up after that 😐

37 weeks today so finally full term and I wanted to go early to stop me having to be induced (IVF so they won’t let me go past 40 weeks) but it would be such bad timing to go into labour now. And I’m just so gutted that all this is happening at a time that should be happy and exciting. So much of the excitement of this pregnancy was already taken away by the long difficult process of even getting pregnant. It just makes me so sad 😞

RachLeeds · 01/02/2024 11:12

I’m due on 11/02/2023 so think I’m 38+4. Midwife said she will do a sweep on 13/02/2023 if I’m still pregnant. She said he’s fully engaged and I’m having irregular cramps/BH so we shall see! I’m also glad it’s Feb, so happy for him to come any time now! I know first babies are usually late though.

KayakingBex · 01/02/2024 11:23

@HopeAndStrength - same here my baby was due yesterday 31st January but I just had a feeling he was going to hold out for February - my family is full of February birthdays 😅. Good luck with your induction!

I'm booked in for an induction on the 12th February but we are all hoping he comes a little bit earlier. Lots of walks and bouncing on the ball 😁

KayakingBex · 01/02/2024 11:31

@Kelb79 - oh honey that is such a lot all at once. /hugs. Really hope your dad picks up and is out of hospital soon.

yes I have thrown up in the middle of the night due to acid reflux. It set off my gag reflex and I couldn’t stop it - pregnancy is really not glamorous 😩.I suspect all the stress you are having did not help! I hope you have a smooth birth when it’s time 🤞

Mumtothreex · 01/02/2024 11:35

Hi ladies. Been quiet for a while but nice to see babies arriving. I’m 38+4 today and just had a sweep this morning. 1cm dilated and could be stretched to 2cm so we shall see…if not another sweep booked for Saturday! 🤞🏼 X

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/02/2024 11:49

@Mumtothreex all the best hun 🤞 I take it your cervix must of already been favourable then? 🙂

RachLeeds · 01/02/2024 11:50

@Kelb79 sending love ❤️

Regarding the night time choking/acid reflux.. yes I had this and got Omeprazole prescribed from the GP which stopped it x

Cheetocat · 01/02/2024 12:06

I didn't know what a stretch & sweep was so I googled it and I'm a bit shocked, they literally put their finger into your uterus. 😱 Tbh I'd still consider it if it was offered to me, it seems to be a good way to get labour going.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/02/2024 12:23

@Kelb79 I am so so sorry, you're really going through it with your poor family. Sending love to you. I think the acid reflux vomiting is probably stress as well, but that must have been the final straw, having to sort the bedding and clean yourself, on top of incredibly tough days with your dad and brother. I've woken up with vomit in my mouth from acid reflux, and I think others have mentioned it also. You've got way more on your plate than us though. Hope you manage to get some positive news on their health situations x

Ebonythoughts · 01/02/2024 12:29

I have no words. I’m just so sorry. That’s a lot all at once. Sending you and your family love and strength. Take each day as it comes and take care of yourself as best you can. ❤️

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/02/2024 12:31

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I don't have a job they can get mat cover in for. I have my deals and clients I need to sort, then my boss basically has to pick up my full workload til I'm back in 7-8 months. Trying to minimise the impact as much as possible and get my pipeline stuff done as much as possible. Plus the extension is expensive (booked in before I was pregnant) and some of my partners shared parental leave is unpaid as he moved to a startup. This was a surprise pregnancy and we don't have much sorted 😬

You must be a pro after so many births! Do you know how effective S+S is for you? Have you had many before?

@Ihatewinding I phoned up and asked for one, because growth scan showed a 91st centile baby, I'm quite small boned, and the baby is back to back. My last was back to back but weighed significantly less than what they're estimated this one to be. Back to back labour is tough, and I said I don't think I can do it with a 9lb / 9.5lb baby. Or even bigger if I go overdue.

I don't know if sweeps are very effective though? Did they work for many people here who've had babies already?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/02/2024 12:32

@Ihatewinding so sorry to read about pubic pain and yours being back to back also! Hope they turn back around

CheeseAndCrackersx · 01/02/2024 12:40

So no luck with my sweep cos cervix wasn't low enough 🙈

I guess that's a risk to take when having 1 2 weeks earlier.
So I guess it depends when my c sec gets booked in for to see if I could try have another at next midwife appointment cos I really truly want to go naturally.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 01/02/2024 12:44

@CheeseAndCrackersx I'm sorry!

Mumtothreex · 01/02/2024 12:52

Yes she said so, said she could feel my waters and baby’s head - I have an induction booked for the 9th but she said I wouldn’t make it to then she didn’t think. 11 years ago today I had a sweep with my first and he came two days later on the 3rd! X @MummyTo4BoysXXXX

anony1111 · 01/02/2024 13:29

@Kelb79 I'm so sorry your going through such a tough time 😞 remember to look after yourself and baby. I'm sending hugs your way x

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I had 3 with my first baby and none of them really did much for me unfortunately. I will still give them a try this time though. I know people who have gone into labour after theirs though, so you never know.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/02/2024 15:17

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thats ashame you cant have maternity leave, sounds like you could do with a well deserved break hun so hopefully you will get that once baba is here & be able to enjoy your newborn baby bubble 🥰 & tbh haven't had a s&s before considering I'm on baby number 5! 😂 have you? x

@Mumtothreex ohhh exciting seems like it won't be much longer for you then till your have your little one in your arms! 🥰 what was it like? Was the s&s painful or just uncomfortable? 🤔 I've already refused an induction as for me personally my only experience of an induction was last year with my 4th son & it didn't exactly go to plan or should I say like they say in textbook! I naively thought I would go in same day as induction & end up with my baby in arms later that day - but nope! 😂 it was obvious my body wasn't ready to be manually forced into labour that is for sure! End result is worth it by all means but apart from that I'm hoping this time around I get to avoid that route 💯!! Unless their was like an emergency ofcoarse.. that's why they have offered me a s&s this time but on mental health grounds x

Mumtothreex · 01/02/2024 15:27

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX It was uncomfortable but not painful plus it’s just the thought that goes through me i’m the same with smears! I had an induction with my last baby and I don’t remember it being too bad but it was nearly 9 years ago. I think 🤞🏼 he might come before then anyway! I’m known to have big babies and have GD again so wanted to have him no later than my due date for this reason x

DmcinT · 01/02/2024 15:31

@anony1111 great to have a plan, I’d 38 week appt yesterday and asked about getting a plan in place and they said it will be discussed when I go into labour or at 40 week appt (if I make it to that) I thought it so strange and feel a bit in limbo.

@Kelb79 I’m so sorry ur having such a stressful time and some happiness/ joy has been taken❤️ praying all is ok with ur dad and brother xx

@Mumtothreex how was the sweep, I’ve heard such unpleasant things about it that it’s kind of scared me off it but maybe it’s not as uncomfortable as u read?

is anyone else doing all the old wife tails to help Labour along? I’ve been

  • long walks
  • curb walking
  • up and down stairs
  • squatting
  • raspberry tea
can’t face thought of pineapple or hot curries 🤢 might give sex a go this evening but really think that’s just going to be uncomfortable 😅🫣 anything else anyone swears by or has been told to do?
MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/02/2024 15:40

@Mumtothreex I had GD & also polyhydraminos last year with my son hence the reason for induction as he was measuring big 😂 went in for induction at 37+1, he was born eventually 37+5 only weighing 7pounds&8.5ounces so not that big really! x

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/02/2024 15:43

@DmcinT since finding out my cervix wasn't that favourable yesterday so MD was unable to do a s&s, my plan is tomorrow night me & DP are going to have some sex in hope it helps my cervix soften & shorten ect as sperm is meant to help prepare it for labour isn't it? Certainly going to be interesting when limited to only like 3 positions 😂 so see how it goes! Haha x
