Not a great day and wondering what to do… saw consultant today to book in my section but they have no free dates for 39 weeks, and I need a section. They’re going to keep looking for me…but now wondering if I need to move hospital or go private. I’m so shocked.

Mummapenguin20 · 18/01/2024 11:52

@redxlondon i know it don’t help as not planned but if you need a section and go into Labour it will become a emergency section x

Mangotango39 · 18/01/2024 12:12

@redxlondon oh this is stressful, what dates did they have available in terms of how far you'll be?

yes I heard if you need c section you'd have emergency if you went naturally into labour x

Yes, but the recovery and procedure is then slightly different and introduces different risks so really hoping to avoid that (as long as I don’t go into labour anyway before 39 weeks)

The only date they had was 39+6, but it should be at 39 weeks to avoid (as much as possible) going into labour beforehand.
Will see if they can find a date next week and then if not figure out alternative hospitals. Private is just sooooo crazy expensive and if anything goes wrong NHS is the best for emergency care.

Cheetocat · 18/01/2024 12:54

@Kelb79 Yeah, it's so exciting that we're all watching out for signs together and that our babies will come so soon. Some have c-sections scheduled for late January which is so soon and even someone like me due on the 17th of Feb only has 30 days till due date, baby could come any time now!

Mangotango39 · 18/01/2024 12:54

@redxlondon so sorry that's happening - hopefully another hospital is an option instead of private!

mine is at 38+3 and I thought felt quite close.

Oh wow, best of luck with yours!

DmcinT · 18/01/2024 13:31

@redxlondon I’m sorry ur dealing with that stress. Did they have anything for week 38 even or would they not do it at that stage?

im breech now after her being head down for weeks and weeks 🙈 so they will assess if she’s still breech next week and book section if so

I think they’re reluctant pre 39 weeks unless there’s a medical concern. The only reason I need section is uterus abnormality and breach presentation that’s unlikely to change.

babythreeincoming · 18/01/2024 14:14

@redxlondon Got everything crossed for you!

I wonder if they will give me a section before 39 weeks based on my history and current situation?

X2 previous PPH's
High blood pressure

Current:

Breech baby
Measuring 3 weeks ahead
Polyhydramnios

I've got a scan on Tuesday to see if he has moved and they have offered an ECV but I just don't know what to do 😒

Shrillwaffle · 18/01/2024 14:23

@redxlondon that’s so rubbish :( do they have earlier dates? Is there another hospital close by you could change to?

is anyone else getting constant tummy pain? I’ve had it over the last couple days seems to be particularly bad today and in my back is this just pregnancy at this stage?

DmcinT · 18/01/2024 15:05

@Shrillwaffle i have no tummy pain. Is it coming and going or constantly there? Would u just go in and get a wee check over to be sure?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/01/2024 15:14

@Shrillwaffle I have kind of stomach aching / cramps and backache last day or two. Today I woke up and my hips ache so much, it's making me waddle. I think baby might have dropped as well - have you noticed this?

Hankthehonk · 18/01/2024 16:29

@Shrillwaffle if it's proper pain rather than just discomfort go to your maternity unit. I went in a few weeks ago when pain escalated and they diagnosed it as pelvic girdle pain, I got a physio referral and codeine prescription. Hope it either eases up or you can get support.

Shrillwaffle · 18/01/2024 16:41

@Hankthehonk @DmcinT @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 its kind of both it’s like always there then gets a bit better then comes back again upper stomach lower stomach 😩 I think if it gets any worse I’ll call and get checked idk whether I’m just over worrying. I can feel her moving though I’m wondering if that’s causing me this dull crampiness but should movement cause that?

Meeting · 18/01/2024 16:45

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I've had quite bad hip pain the last 2 days and my pelvic bones have been really sore. When I saw the MW last week she did say baby's head was really far down into there so I'm putting it down to that. Bouncing on my ball seems to help a bit

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/01/2024 16:50

Thanks it's reassuring to know others have had this. I'm due in three weeks. I don't know if I'd get a physio referral before then, I'm imagining it's just baby positioning like you said @Meeting

@Shrillwaffle I'm wondering if some of the baby turning slow swirling movement started contributing to the cramping also. Sometimes when she does it it really hurts!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/01/2024 16:54

@redxlondon I'm just reading back through the thread on the train as there's loads I missed. I just saw you fell over! How are you now? You must have been so shaken up. Hope the bruising has eased

Thank you for asking! My knee and shoulder are still a bit sore but on the mend, and thankfully they took most of the fall so baby is all okay. In fact, he’s growing like crazy!! Had my 36 week scan today and he was estimated as 6lbs 10oz!!!

Cheetocat · 18/01/2024 18:29

@redxlondon Glad you're okay after the fall, that's a beautiful size for baby!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 18/01/2024 18:50

@redxlondon I'm so glad you're on the mend!

Clueless13 · 18/01/2024 19:32

Hi everyone, I’m planning to breast feed once baby is here but have been advised to take formula just in case (I’m being induced at 38 weeks) - how do I take the bottles? I’m going to sterilise but how do I actually pack and take with me or do I sterilise them at the hospital before using if needed? - I don't have a clue!

Havanalily1806 · 18/01/2024 19:46

@Clueless13 the best thing to do is buy some of the ready to feed formula, most brands of milk sell these and they come in their own little bottle with teat and are ready to drink, you don't need to sterilise or make up bottles- being able to do this in the hospital will be tricky.

msp2023 · 18/01/2024 19:47

@Clueless13 I've bought a pack of starter milks which are in ready made bottles. Kendamil for reference but I'm sure there are a few brands that do this.
Much easier for hosp scenarios where it's not possible to sterilise etc :)
