The layer we need to put under baby in pram before putting in pram

You don't need to put anything under them in the pram, if it's really cold you can layer baby up with a vest, babygrow, leggings and a cardigan for example and then a nice cellular blanket on top. If it's warmer then just the vest and outfit or whatever you'll like dressing them in. There are also pram suits which I've seen a lot of on vinted, not sure how much they'd be new from shops. I live in a southern european country so even though February is cold here, it's going to warm up fast, I think I'd be wasting money buying one. Prams usually have a firm layer and then padding so there would never be wind going through the fabric onto their little backs or anything.

Prams have an insert so I just put a fitted Moses sheet on.
Otherwise, nothing. You layer the baby.

@Allthatglittersisntart do you mean in case of spit up or puking? I found Etsy good for all different sizes of fitted sheets.

Things like this are great too if you're out and cold - for pram or car seat. Warm, easy to put on, and easy to adjust to stop overheating https://jukki.uk/shop/travel/car-seat-blanket/savanna-fun-olive-velvet-car-seat-blanket/?gadsource=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAhomtBhDgARIsABcaYymzSZfPhAslBiU-QfyFQmXNowVkMN36LUogaB0WCQ7fpKBIE4aXTCYaAihnEALww_wcB

@Allthatglittersisntart I got the bugaboo newborn insert for the pram (it could be used with any pram brand though) you put baby in it too stop them rolling around a giant bassinet, plus being Feb it looks snuggly and warm. Pretty pricey but I got one second hand on vinted as I'm sure it'll not be used for long, couple of months at most

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 have you used that website before? I was looking at the nests for daytime naps but was unsure about the website and some of the reviews I found

Meeting · 14/01/2024 16:44

I'm a bit worried. My baby has been kicking non stop for the last several minutes. Is this normal or is she in distress?

Cheetocat · 14/01/2024 16:54

@Meeting Try to relax, lie on your left for about 20 minutes and see if she settles down. If it continues I'd probably ring someone. My baby has times where he moves for several minutes and others where it's just one kick but if it's not normal for you I'd only try waiting just a short time.

Allthatglittersisntart · 14/01/2024 16:57

Thanks, that must be it!

Oh no sorry I haven't, was just showing a picture of what we've got. Ours were gifts and have been great

Meeting · 14/01/2024 17:02

Thank you @Cheetocat I decided after posting that I'd advise anyone else to call MAU so just did that and they're quite certain that baby just had hiccups as I said it felt more like jerking than her usual kicks. Typically it stopped as soon as I called!

anony1111 · 14/01/2024 17:58

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 no worries, thank you

Shrillwaffle · 14/01/2024 19:06

@Meeting like @Cheetocat said lie down and just relax for a little bit and monitor the movements. Is she usually this active? Or does it feel out of character and not normal amount of movements? If after you’ve rested you’re still concerned call someone but honestly she’s probably just having a hyper moment xxx

Meeting · 14/01/2024 19:37

@Shrillwaffle she definitely stopped jerking when I went for a lie down thankfully. She's just really active tonight I think. It's just such a worry when everything is new and Google always brings up a worst case scenario!

Mangotango39 · 14/01/2024 20:16

@Meeting its so hard to tell a pattern sometimes isnt it! I really struggle and have gone with reduced quite a few times ....
I wish we could just see inside like hey, are you ok 🙃

Kelb79 · 14/01/2024 23:55

Soooo…. Perineal massage…. Who’s giving this a go and is anyone actually managing to get it right??? I’m a bloody yoga instructor yet I just can’t get myself in the place to do it right… I can’t quite get comfortable with my partner doing it… and now I’m freaked out by how swollen everything is down there too!! 😳😳 is this normal????

Cheetocat · 15/01/2024 00:04

@Kelb79 This has been playing on my mind too, I don't really feel comfortable with someone else do it but can't figure out the logistics of doing it solo either. I think I definitely need to do it, I have very sensitive skin on my whole body and gets damaged easily so I feel like I'm def at risk of tearing if I'm not prepared!

Kelb79 · 15/01/2024 00:15

@Cheetocat yep, the logistics are eluding me completely!! The diagrams/instructions make it sound easy but I just can’t get into the position needed 😵‍💫 and I haven’t even got a big bump!! 🤷🏼‍♀️🙄

Sugarplumw · 15/01/2024 01:58

I went in earlier for reduced movements, and the midwife wasn't concerned just because the babies heart rate was fine, even though there were only a couple of movements on the ctg in half an hour. Baby normally moves at least 20 times in half an hour. The reduced movement had lasted all day as well and is still reduced now. Midwife didn't seem concerned when I told her the movements were completely out of character. Quite worried about the lack of movement still. Has anyone else had this? Should I go back in?

Allthatglittersisntart · 15/01/2024 03:01

Definitely call again and listen to your own instinct. Did you not get to speak to a doctor after(obligatory in my hospital when you go in after 28weeks for reduced movements)?
I cant compare as have anterior placenta and don’t ever feel that much movement but the midwife does really emphasise the importance of tracking.

Sugarplumw · 15/01/2024 04:33

I only got seen by one midwife the whole time. I also have an anterior placenta but it's high so I've never had an issue with feeling movements luckily.

novamama · 15/01/2024 07:57

@Sugarplumw I recently went in for reduced movements, even if baby had normal HR and movement during check up, midwife said clearly that if I'm still concerned and baby doesn't move in the regular patterns, to come in again between 6-12h after the last check-up.

You know your baby best, go with your instinct. I would definitely go in again today if I were you

Havanalily1806 · 15/01/2024 08:39

@Sugarplumw

Last time I was in for reduced movements, it was similar to you in that even though everything was okay according to midwife's, I had hardly felt anything and I was unsure.

The midwife said to me that if I wasn't happy they would admit me, or I could go home monitor and come back later that day if still not happy.

I opted to go home and by the end of the day she was back to normal, but definitely if you're not happy still I'd go back in.

msp2023 · 15/01/2024 09:47

@Kelb79 urgh I've been thinking about trying the massages for weeks but have been too scared!
I start Mat leave tomorrow so I think I'm going to give it a good go! The risk of tearing is scary - would like to do as much as possible to prevent this!
