… did they have reflux?

People say there’s a link but not much evidence about.

My 1st DS hiccuped a lot before he was born and had really bad reflux and colic.

I’m 33 weeks with my 2nd DS and have really been hoping for a happy, contented, non-refluxy baby this time but he also hiccups a lot. Every day for about 10 mins or so.

Please tell me it’s not a bad omen for reflux 🤦🏻‍♀️

I haven't researched it but I wouldn't have thought there was a connection. Hiccuping is them working their lungs in utero and is therefore related to breathing. Reflux is because the muscles which keep food in the windpipe are immature and don't stay closed and milk can come back up. That's related to swallowing and so I would guess that they're not related, but of course I'm open to correction!

For what it's worth, my 9 week old had frequent hiccups in the womb and still gets hiccups multiple times a day after eating, but no reflux.
