Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

@May5th
It was an induction at 37+1.. she was born at 37+4.
All went very well considering how early I was.
I want to avoid a c section myself. Not sure how I'd cope physically or mentally with the healing.
But I know it cannot always be avoided but I am worried.
My headache went and back again. Think I need to drink much more than I am 😫😫

Goldie1234 · 24/04/2024 18:52

@Elmlee and @May5th please could I ask what the metformin medicine is for ?

I had another growth scan today (32 weeks) and baby has dropped from 6th centile to under 5th. They've also found signs that the blood pressure is too high in my placenta so will be having weekly doppler scans alongside fortnightly growth scans (like you @Elmlee ?). The sonographer said to go home and pack my hospital bag so I'm ready at any point from now 😅 but that the hope will be to make it to induction at 37 weeks. This was exactly the same with my little girl and we did make it to 37 weeks when I was induced.

So on that note.. what's everyone packing in their hospital bag !?

I also had a very dizzy / faint turn during the scan from lying on my back. But I can't shake the dizziness.. it's making me feel a bit sick as well.. sugary foods aren't helping. Has anyone else had this ? I feel pretty rough...

Goldie1234 · 24/04/2024 18:52

As an extra P.S. I went for the reusable nappies and did a big order yesterday 🤗 hope they work out !! Thanks for all the advice! X

oop · 24/04/2024 19:06

It's crazy how close we all are to meeting our babies!
I'm 35 weeks tomorrow and midwife thinks baby has finally gone head down now but I've got a presentation scan next week to double check. She also thinks she's back to back at the moment.. 🙄 I just want an easier labour this time haha. But would like baby to wait until closer to 40 weeks please as I have stuff to do! Still haven't packed my hospital bag or cleared out the baby room.

@Goldie1234 yay for the nappies!

First time poster! We've just moved house so have been pretty busy, still need to sort things like the baby room and buying half the stuff we need! I've also moved hospitals, I'm 32 weeks today, first time mum and at the new hospital they said they would want to induce me at the due date as I have low PAPP-A (that I've been taking aspirin for), I was just wondering if anyone else has been told they will likely be induced for this reason? Thanks!

Elmlee · 24/04/2024 19:40

Went for my first Doppler scan today, all normal.
But blood pressure was high... so I've been admitted so currently in hospital.
They are keeping me in overnight then will see tomorrow about what to do next.
Been used as a pin cushion my arms are so sore 😫
Metformin is for gestational diabetes and to help with managing your blood sugars xx

MrsTrue · 24/04/2024 21:41

@Goldie1234 - sorry you're not feeling right, is it worth calling to check if they want to see you? I'm a fan of checking for most things, just to be sure and give me peace of mind. I'm maybe overly cautious but would rather that than be stressed.

Goldie1234 · 24/04/2024 22:18

@MrsTrue thank you ! I am like you 😅 I did call earlier but no answer, it can be hard to get through to the midwife sometimes. I'm going to see how I feel in the morning and call in again if needs be X

May5th · 25/04/2024 07:43

@Goldie1234 my metformin is also for gestational diabetes to manage the sugar levels, I’m also still on aspirin for previous recurrent miscarriages and also for labetolol for blood pressure (I normally don’t take any medication but with this pregnancy I seem to have everything, but it’s okay I’m feeling well supported by the hospital). Actually I just changed consultants and the previous one had spoken about the blood pressure a lot and I’m monitoring at home recording the readings but now new consultant looked at the readings and said it’s all fine and not high actually but still to continue with the medication. I haven’t packed my hospital bag either yet! Hope you feel better soon and dizziness goes away!

@Elmlee hope you managed to sleep and they let you home soon! I keep telling myself just a few more weeks, on one hand I feel like I have nothing ready but part of me just wants to get it over and done with to have my baby here and stop all the worrying and just feeling unwell and now super clumsy! At least it’s almost the weekend!

Goldie1234 · 25/04/2024 11:03

Thank you @May5th !!

@Elmlee hope all ok ?
X

Elmlee · 25/04/2024 11:21

@Goldie1234

I'm still in, had a terrible night sleep.
They have given me blood pressure meds last night and this morning. They are making sure it is staying down.

I have a headache that just doesn't go away.

Thanks for checking in. They said I might be able to go home tonight or tomorrow xx

MsNeis · 25/04/2024 14:33

Hello everyone! I had my 3rd trimester growth scan yesterday, at 34 weeks +1 day. The baby is absolutely fine and I'm really thrilled, because I've spent the pregnancy worried about GD, which I ended not having, and weight issues, so it was a big relief to know she's growing perfectly fine in here ❤
However, they said the baby was breech and that the possibilities of turning around this far along are few. In the case that she continues to be breech, they would plan a c-section. They referred me to a consultation at hospital to see if they can practice an ECV (external cephalic version) to help turn the baby.
The issue is that I already had a c-section with my first, so they need to see if it's possible, with my history, to do ECV.

Anyway, all I wanted to ask was for similar experiences here 😊Anyone with a previous c-section and a breech baby with this one? 😅And also, I would love to have more children in the future: will having had 2 c-sections be an impediment? Anyone with more than one c-section over here?
Thank you 😊

MizzMarple · 25/04/2024 14:52

@MsNeis I’ve had 2 c sections, plus a medically induced late miscarriage and will be having a 3rd c section. They aren’t bothered at all about me having 3 c sections. It was a small issue when the baby I lost had to be induced but they just gave me smaller doses of the drugs and kept a closer eye on me due to a small risk of uterine abruption. But that’s a very rare situation which I hope you’d never be in.

MsNeis · 25/04/2024 16:59

Thank you very much, @MizzMarple (and I'm sorry for your loss🙏).
It was very bizarre, because the doctor told me that, if I end up needing a 2nd c-section, having had a previous one, the protocol is to offer me a tubal ligation (I'm not in the UK, so I don't know if this is offered as well): it felt kind of dystopian 😬

MizzMarple · 25/04/2024 19:12

That seems very weird to me. No one’s mentioned it to me at all. During my second one they said there wasn’t much scar tissue so if I did have another one it should be straightforward (not that anyone could think about having a 3rd when their second is literally minutes old!).

Elmlee · 26/04/2024 07:49

@MsNeis
My mums friend has had like 5/6 sections.
I don't think she is recommended to have anymore as her womb walls are very thin.
But I think it used to be don't have more then 2 but I imagine it will depend women to women zz

Wheeeeee · 26/04/2024 08:48

I hope everyone is doing ok - @Elmlee and @Goldie1234 how are you feeling today?

I had my 32 week appointment yesterday and everything seems to be ticking along. I think the iron tablets might be starting to make a difference as I'm feeling a bit less shattered. Not enjoying what they're doing to my digestive system though 😳

I'm starting to get quite nervous about the birth now. I had a precipitous labour with my first and it seems that often the second is faster, so my main worry is not being able to get to the hospital in time. No doubt after all this worrying I'll have a long labour this time instead!

Suchardchoccy · 26/04/2024 14:52

@MsNeis my MIL had 3 c sections and was told she couldn't have anymore after 3. She couldn't give birth vaginally due to a narrow pelvis I think. But that was in Spain in the 1990s!

Suchardchoccy · 26/04/2024 14:54

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow and have mostly packed my hospital bag now, just still need to get a few things. Even if I don't need to go into hospital 🤞🏻 it will be handy having everything in one place for the home birth

Mountainview8 · 26/04/2024 18:15

I think I've got everything for my hospital bag and plan to pack it this weekend, I'm 34+4. I bought a load of snacks today 😋

The last few days I've been getting a tickley feeling under my breasts, I'm not sure if it's the baby tickling me or I read they could be pushing on nerves, it's an odd feeling whatever it is!

Goldie1234 · 26/04/2024 22:28

@Wheeeeee still feeling rubbish but less dizzy, thanks. Bloods came back fine, I was quite hoping they'd find something to fix though haha
How far away from the hospital are you ? I've been imagining a quick labour too, but I'll most likely be at the hospital for induction anyway which eliminates that worry a bit !
Just wondering how long I can put up with the pain for before asking for an epidural 😅 I asked for one in both my previous pregnancies, but was always too late. Maybe I should ask for it from the start !? I did like the fact that because I didn't have one I could leave the hospital much faster.

Been thinking about hospital bag today too ! Still so much to do 🤯

DanisEndo · 28/04/2024 14:09

Hey everyone, great reading how you’re all doing. Can’t believe how quickly it’s all gone so far - 31 weeks now and just know it’s going to fly by until she’s here!!!

We have our first growth scan next Friday.
Feeling so heavy and slow now! Haven't even started the hospital bags yet which is making me a bit nervous… although the nursery is almost done!

Have had a few tugs and stingy feelings on the top of my belly if I move too quickly or at a funny angle, anyone else felt anything like this? Should I be more concerned than I am?

Wheeeeee · 28/04/2024 18:43

@Goldie1234 glad you're feeling a bit less dizzy, hope you feel better still soon!

I'm about 20 minutes away from the hospital in light traffic but could be rather longer in rush hour. I think I need to have a proper conversation with my midwife at my 36 week appointment about what to do if things progress too fast to get there in time. Last time I went from 4 cm to baby in arms in 90 minutes so was fine for getting to the hospital, but if it's faster this time then it could be touch and go...

I should probably think about packing my hospital bag too! Argh so much still to sort!

Ad12345678 · 30/04/2024 15:31

Hi all. Had my 32 week scan yesterday for placenta praevia. Well it’s not full coverage anymore but only 0.3-0.8mm from the cervix. They’ll scan me again at 36 weeks but said it’s not likely to move to the needed 2cm away (a 5% chance I reckon). And it’s likely to be a section. I don’t know what I feel tbh. I think I’m mostly surprised at how things can turn out in life. I’m in my (late) 20s, 1st baby, never smoked, not IVF, no health issues, etc. Focused on preparing for a natural birth in a midwife-les unit, hypnobirthing and everything. And then you can get a complication which happens only in 0.25% of all pregnancies and you’re like 😳 😳😳
Of course I’m glad they found out early and to have a section is much much better then bleeding out in labour so I’m not worried about it or feel guilty. Just like ‘what the hell just happened’ 😂

Suchardchoccy · 30/04/2024 16:43

@Ad12345678 well at least you know now and can prepare for what is to come 😊

I'm looking forward to having my home birth assessment in 2 weeks - I need to start writing some questions down!
