Couldn't see another and the old one is full. Will copy the list from the last one, the tags are really temperamental though and it definitely has quite a few people missing sorry 🙈

@TunnocksTCake I’m due 5th Jan 😄

buckingmad · 07/12/2023 11:20

I'm 9th Jan! But have a sweep booked in for the 2nd. I originally declined one for 26th Dec but I'm so uncomfortable I'm starting to reconsider 😂

WitcheryDivine · 07/12/2023 11:42

I'm 3rd Jan! Frighteningly soon.

Does anyone know if midwives can prescribe stuff for thrush? It's driving me mad and the pharmacist says he can't give me anything without prescription, and first doc appointment is 10th Jan...

PartRadish · 07/12/2023 11:50

@WitcheryDivine I had this problem a few months ago. My GP wouldn't even prescribe anything because of me having a stitch 😕

So Consultant said you can't have the oral fluconazole tablet during pregnancy but you can absolutely have the Canastan pessary. You shouldn't use the applicator to insert it though, just push it in with a clean finger. He told me to send DH or a friend/family member to buy it for me.

Cream obviously fine too if you haven't already tried that first, 1% or 2% clotrimazole both fine and I've been using it on and off throughout.

@WitcheryDivine I had thrush a few weeks ago and used the Canestan pessary/cream that you can buy over the counter. I checked with my midwife and she said it’s fine to use these, just not the oral tablet.

WitcheryDivine · 07/12/2023 12:27

Ah thanks guys, I've used up a tube of the cream (sorry TMI) and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I think giving up wearing pants would make more difference!!!

I did think of sending my husband to buy something - would they sell the pessary to him then?

Lightningrain · 07/12/2023 12:34

@WitcheryDivine I think I picked it up in the supermarket and just paid with my shopping so no questions asked. I had one in the cupboard from when I thought I had thrush last year so it wasn’t bought recently to remember exactly where I got it from.

I’m sure someone else can buy it on your behalf even from a pharmacy though (just tell DH not to mention you being pregnant just in case).

PartRadish · 07/12/2023 13:48

After I'd posted on here yesterday morning about baby being breech and me having absolutely no signs of my body starting to prepare for labour etc I had lots of movement yesterday afternoon and then some really quite intense braxton hicks last night with a fair amount of pressure that made me think she must have flipped round!

I've just been for my 34 week antenatal appointment, baby is indeed now head down. Not engaged but this baby 4 so completely normal and braxton hicks appear to be in full swing if I'm on my feet for more than a few minutes. Just made me smile how contrary these babies can be, not even born yet and already doing the exact opposite of anything I say 😄

I'm due Jan 4th, but they're highly likely to induce me between 38&39 weeks. I'm 36 today. Midwife this afternoon, different one to normal so looking forward to seeing what she says! Hopefully all earlier growth scan and get this baby out!

suz2285 · 07/12/2023 14:39

@PartRadish great news!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 07/12/2023 14:41

@PartRadish fourth baby, wow! How old are your others? Must be so busy. I'm getting nervous thinking of how it'll be to go from 1-2

Mummyme87 · 07/12/2023 14:44

For thrush definitely need the pessary, the cream is only for symptoms. I tell women to get it from Amazon, or just don’t tell pharmacist it’s for you.

I’m due 13th Jan but induction planned for 6th all being well

Luhou · 07/12/2023 14:46

Sorry sure it's been asked before by the organised amongst us. How many vests/sleepsuits are you taking baby in your hospital bag?

Mushroo · 07/12/2023 14:56

@Luhou i think I’ve got 3 lots of plain vests / sleepsuits in newborn, then a couple of nicer going home outfits - one in newborn and one in 0-3 months.

Debating if I need plain vests and sleepsuits in 0-3 months as well!

PartRadish · 07/12/2023 15:02

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Others are 11, 8 and 6. Although the youngest two both have birthdays in the next fortnight so almost 9 and 7. 11 year old is thankfully becoming a little more self sufficient now, he can make a cup of tea and chuck himself something in the air fryer so as long as the WiFi is on too thats him pretty much sorted 😆 Middle one loves babies so I'm hoping he will be my little helper and chief baby cuddler. Youngest is the only one I'm a little more wobbly over, he's autistic and doesn't like loud noises so I think he might struggle with the crying but we have a few ideas from other parents to try so fingers crossed 🤞

I honestly found 1-2 the most enjoyable! I was so nervous and felt a bit out of my depth with number one but with number 2 I was much much more confident in my own choices, I put much less pressure on myself and it was just a really lovely time tbh. There really is something magical about watching your first baby becone a big brother/sister. And now I'm all emotional again 😂

Due 16th of January but I've also been offered induction on MH grounds for 39 weeks. I'm 95% sure I'll take it but I'd really like to use the pool which I'm not sure my trust will allow with induction (they might, I need to check) so if that's a definite no I might try and hold out until 40 weeks depending how baby is doing. Obviously if they thought she needed out sooner for any reason I'd do that without hesitation.

Ah thank you - have sent husband along!

I'm surprised so many are having inductions for different reasons, there's so much I still don't know/understand about how things can go.

MrsJ6921 · 07/12/2023 15:37

@Luhou I’ve got 3 newborn and 3 0-1 months in both vests and sleepsuits ☺️

Mummyme87 · 07/12/2023 15:45

@WitcheryDivine induction rate nationally is about 40-50% (with no better outcomes!!). My induction is being pushed by me due to previous huge babies and 3rd degree tear. I have a suspect feeling that my 36wk scan will also suggest diabetes which will cement my decision. They come with so many risks which often outweigh the rationale for IOL

WitcheryDivine · 07/12/2023 15:52

Ah I'm sorry @Mummyme87 if you're feeling like you're being pushed into it by circumstances. Had no idea the rate was that high (and obviously no idea if I'll end up needing one myself). Do they give you a choice about how the induction is done?

Luhou · 07/12/2023 15:56

Thanks ladies. I've got 5 vests and sleepsuits with a mix of two sizes. So sounds about right.

Has anybody refused an induction in favour of a c-section? I am hoping for natural labour this time around but if for whatever reason they need baby out, I would prefer a c-section due to previous experience. Not something I've raised with midwife yet.

Mushroo · 07/12/2023 16:04

@Luhou i have (kind of). I’m only allowed to 40+6 due to geststional diabetes.

I’ve had it recorded in my notes that if / when we get close to that date, I’d prefer a c section. I’m not wedded to the decision and have booked a sweep for 40+2 to see how everything is looking.

But for now, I think my plan is try and give birth before 40+6, and if not, c section at that point over drawn out induction.

My consultant has asked to me have a chat with a senior midwife about it, but my actual midwife was fine with it.

1992H · 07/12/2023 16:21

@Mummyme87 40-50% 😳
I knew it was a fair amount but that seems utter madness. I’m not doubting your figures whatsoever but I wonder how many of those are needed/over cautious.

Mummyme87 · 07/12/2023 16:47

@1992H its shocking isn’t it. Vast majority are not necessary and the risks involved with the IOL are often higher than the risk they’re trying to avoid. It’s why the CS rate has gone up, which has huge long term consequences for the immediate and subsequent pregnancies

Inmydreams88 · 07/12/2023 16:49

I'm due 3rd Jan. I'm feeling really emotional today about the birth. I am just so scared, planning for a natural water birth but my consultant has advised no instrumental delivery due to low platelets so if needed I'll have to have a c section. C section terrifies me, and it was all just too much today so I broke down and had a little cry. Why do I always think of the worst possible outcome?
