I didn't, as I like surprises and having gone through the whole dreaded labour thing, it was just a wow moment.

However, most ppl do find out or at least that is what the Senior MW said and most of my friends/family did too. My brother likes everything planned (room colour, name etc) whilst SIL just couldn't wait

I have my scan tomorrow and dh and I aren't talking about it until we go in and they can tell us IF we can find out, sometimes baby doesn't sit right and would be typical if we decided yes and baby was curled up being modest lol

didn't with dd1
did with dd2 but then she wasn't being modest so really hav no choice to know lol

Regardless of whether you have found out the sex.

I think yes. With ds I was so glad we found out as we had both been convinced he was going to be a girl, it gave us a chance to get our heads round the idea and prepare. I am pg again and will be finding out if possible.

arrietyclock I was always the one found rooting about in parents wardrobes etc the weeks before christmas looking for what I was getting, I never could wait!!

we'll see tomorrow, am not sure if I'll need rest of pg to get around having a boy seeing as I have 2 dds and thats what am used to but not making decision until tomorrow lol

I couldn't wait to know for sure, even though I was totally convinced he was a boy.

Nooooo!! The most awesome thing is finding out what it is. what's the suprise otherwise? Ooooh, look, it's a baby. Not exciting. Don't do it. Please....

I'm amazed so many have said yes, I thought most wouldn't.
I definitely wouldn't, in fact one of my (minor) regrets with my 3 births is that I was told the sex before they were put into my arms. I do love the idea of gazing into that little face for a bit and not knowing, then finding out myself.
Guess I'm just weird then.

No vote over here. I thought that if I found out I'd regret it and wish I didn't know (if that makes any sense )

Also, if you do find out, don't tell everyone the name you've chosen. A friend of mine recently went in for a planned C-section, so when the text came with baby boy, (name), born on (date) etc. it felt a bit less exciting.

Totally depends on your situation. #1 couldn't wait to find out, #2 couldn't wait either as was hoping for the other kind (indications are promising!). If I ever get to #3 maybe I will leave it a surprise?!

ooh look a baby = not exciting, good grief!
I can assure you that finding out at the hospital is a lovely surprise and looking at you baby for the first time is more than a little sodding exciting.

didn't know with either of our two. and not by choice, but because the trust wouldn't tell you and we didn't ahve the money to go private.

this time, if this pregnancy makes it, we're going to find out.

the midwives never did 'it's a . . . ' with us, they let me or DH look first.

NO, I really wanted to and DH stopped me, both times. Was totally shocked that Ds1 was a boy, was sure he was a girl.

My ex-boss knew the sex, named the baby in utero so when said baby was born, it was rather an anticlimax.

Trust me, you'll be pleased whatever and it is nice to be surprised (and I am exactly the same re: christmas/birthday presents etc, I hate surprises.)

expat, I may be able to get hold of some urine sample test sticks, would you want them if I could? No guarantees, but it is possible

To the OP, personally I found out with DD, not with DS, and pg again and haven't found out, though I felt everything 'surprise' wise was taken away from me with both, knew when they were coming and their names etc beforehand so for me not knowing the sex was giving me an extra 'wow' iyswim.
