Who signed your fit to fly note?

My GP doesn't sign fit to fly notes, I've left a message with my midwife to ask her but the airlines form says "physician" so not sure if she would.

Who signed yours?

Wondering if I'll need to book an in-person visit to a private GP instead.

My midwife signed mine :)

No one. Midwife refused and said GP had to. GP charged a fee and there was a 4 week wait (beyond the time I was flying). So just took my notes and no one asked. Europe flying with BA.

Hopefully mine will do the same then!

Thanks. I'm flying with work, on their dime, so can't risk getting turned away at the airport without it.

How many weeks are you? Do you have to have one? I'm flying to florida next month, I'll be 19 weeks. Will I need to get one?

I’d get work to pay for a private GP in that case.

I had a similar issue with my midwife not being able to sign fit to fly notes. In my case, I had to go to a private GP to get it done. It's a bit of a hassle, but it worked out in the end.

This. My midwife signed mine for travel at 24 weeks but I seem to recall reading on here that a doctor needs to sign for travel after 28w

19 weeks you won't need one with any airline I've seen. I'll be 28 weeks at the time so I'll definitely need one.

Sounds like a private GP is unfortunately the way forward.

I suppose it depends on how much you are showing. I took 3 long haul and two short haul flights from 28 weeks and nobody asked to see any evidence or even asked if I was pregnant. I never had a fit to fly cert because of the faff of getting one!

Reopened on your airline. EasyJet don’t want one until 35 weeks.

@fitforflight I got a fit to fly letter from https://home2lab.co.uk/. You email them copies of your notes and they email back your letter. Think it was about £40. Don't know if they can sign a specific form though if that's what the airline requires.

I was 34 weeks and then 35 weeks on the return flight and no-one asked to see my letter (British Airways). I was also flying for work though so wouldn't have chanced it without a letter.

I'm flying with Aer Lingus which is 28 weeks onward.

It's a specific form the airline want which I think complicates things! Expectant Mother Travel Advice Form they've called it.

But same as you said, when you're flying for work you don't want to chance it!

You don’t need one for most airlines until the start of week 29 with a single pregnancy.

My midwife signed mine at 31/32 weeks.

I asked whoever I happened to be seeing for another matter, checkup. Having said that I flew Aer Lingus twice weekly for my entire pregnancy up to 36 weeks, when I had to take mat leave, and was never asked to show the form.

That's week 28 though in pregnancy terms. Eg, if I'll be 28 weeks and 3 days it's classed as being in my 29th week because I'm more than 28 weeks.

That would be ideal for me but knowing my luck I'd get asked. I don't have an appointment with anyone until just before Christmas so I'll need to make a specific one for this unfortunately. We'll see if the midwife signs it, if not I'll have to see about a private GP signing the airline specific form.

I don't fly while pregnant (I hate flying). However, cousin paid £50 at her gp reception requesting a letter. She got a call the next day asking for a confirmation and was told she could pick it up anytime after 1pm.

I asked my GP surgery and they don't offer them, even for a fee. They said they stopped doing it at the same time as stopping doctors signing passport applications.

I went to a private GP for mine. There was a clinic in city of London who did it.

Charge it back to your work

The cost isn't an issue, but I can't seem to find a private GP that will sign the airline's form, they all seem to just want to write their own.

There’s an online service that do them.

I can't see any that sign the airline specific form, do you have any recommendations?
