Yup I hear ya @Kirova i never necessarily found my other two pregnancies ‘easy’ but this one definitely is taking it out of me

Sambeaumont · 20/11/2023 06:16

Anyone else suffer from really bad headaches?
Don't seem to have any other worrying symptoms xx

Luhou · 20/11/2023 07:24

Ugh feeling poorly today. Going to phone in sick. Feeling mega guilty despite it being the first time I've done it all pregnancy.

I am a bit concerned to be honest. My back and cramp pain kept me awake durint the night. I've had a few loose BM's over night and this morning so not sure if it's a bug or just a result of something else going on.

Feeling naff so staying at home. Should probably cancel my group physio session too as don't want to infect othere if it's a bug.

Absolutely hate rining in sick to work.

Firsttimerugbymum · 20/11/2023 09:23

Anyone else really struggling with work motivation? Guessing it's really common but I really can't be bothered and finding it difficult to get stressed.

Can't even say I'm going through a quiet time - I'm handing over to my maternity cover, have a new boss so spending a lot of time with them, getting the team ready for my leave alongside working in finance so year end is always busy!

Anyone else? Please send some motivation...

PartRadish · 20/11/2023 09:25

@Mummyme87 How are you feeling today?

@Sambeaumont I've had an on and off headache for about 10 days now. Mentioned it at my growth scan so the sonographer sent me to have my urine checked for protein and my blood pressure checked afterwards but both thankfully normal so I'm assuming hormonal or tireness/not drinking enough?!

@Luhou Have you spoken to triage? It most likely is a bug/overdoing it but on the off chance it is something the sooner they know the higher chance they have of stalling it to give time for steroids etc. My Consultant at the preterm prevention clinic stresses to me every single time I see him that I really mustn't 'wait and see'. He says he'd rather they rule preterm labour out multiple times if it means he knows sooner if it is ever something.

So sorry you've been so poorly @Mummyme87 that sounds awful. Hope you manage to get better soon!

I'm feeling very sorry for myself at the moment, the insomnia has begun and I'm awake most nights from 2-5 then get an hour before DD jumps on our bed. Hips and lower bump hurt after walking more than 5 paces. On the bright side DH is taking DD away this weekend so I have most of the weekend to myself!

We finished decorating the baby's room though and got down the Moses basket and play mat from the loft at the weekend and both are so mouldy, we had to throw them out! At present can't find the next to me or infant car seat but hoping they are in my mums attic as dh will collect dd from there later today, and double hoping neither are mouldy!!

Only 3 weeks tomorrow left at work... please go quickly!

Mummyme87 · 20/11/2023 09:31

@Luhou sorry you feel poorly, I know the work guilt feeling!! Rest up, stay hydrated. There’s a lot going round at the moment, having just come out the other side of it. The cramps were horrendous, you have my sympathies.

@Sambeaumont i don’t get the headaches anymore, I did in early second trimester though, really debilitating ones. Make sure you’re well hydrated and resting where you can. Do you wear glasses at all? Maybe get your eyes tested, pregnancy plays havoc with your eyesight and can obviously cause headaches. If you don’t have a midwife appt coming up maybe see if you can see the GP for an AN check to check BP and urine. And obviously regular paracetamol.

I have turned the corner and omg do I feel better for it!! Still felt awful and vomiting up until 10pm last night, although was able to stomach a few mouthfuls of beans, wasn’t sure if the hunger from not eating in over 50hours was making it worse. But slept well and no sickness this morning. Although the school run was a massive struggle, thought I was going to pass out, so light headed, palpitations and shortness of breath… the lack of food and fluids has played catch up!!! So sipping a rehydration sachet again
and hopefully will all settle

Mummyme87 · 20/11/2023 09:34

Oh that’s an arse @TunnocksTCake about the mould. Every cloud, there’s sales galore so you will be able to replace those items at a reduced cost! But still, annoying!! We haven’t got out bigger items down from the loft yet, hoping they’re okay. Everything else has been and it’s very dry up there no dampness at all

Luhou · 20/11/2023 09:41

@PartRadish not as of yet. I'm goint to give it an hour or so and see how I feel. But I imagine I will go in at some point today.

Mushroo · 20/11/2023 09:49

@Firsttimerugbymum I feel exactly the same about work. I am doing the literal bare minimum (some days basically nothing). I feel guilty about it but I still cant bring myself to be productive.

I still have about 4 weeks left as well so need to produce something.

In more exciting news, packed the hospital bags this weekend. Feels like I’m taking loads!

Sambeaumont · 20/11/2023 09:52

@PartRadish @Mummyme87 thank u for your responses. Think I will contact my midwife n get checked again.
I do wear glasses so mayb an eye test is a good plan xxxxx

Firsttimerugbymum · 20/11/2023 10:06

@Mushroo - thank God it's not just me! I still have six weeks to go as I'm not due until the 21st and the first week in the new year is a critical work time for us.

I was meant to be "on call" that week, but wondering if I'd be better just taking it as leave. Difficult as I doubt much would expect anything from me at that point and it'd be good to add it to maternity leave.

Exciting that hospital bags are packed though - was going to start mine this weekend as I have a few days off.

Exciting that everyone is starting to get things down from the loft! Does anyone have any advice as to whether we'd need to wash/clean any second hand items I've got from a family member? They aren't particularly dirty, but figure maybe putting them through the washing machine won't hurt?

MrsJ6921 · 20/11/2023 10:29

I only have 12 working days left at work thank god. Our station has no working lift so the stairs kill me almost on a daily business.

@Firsttimerugbymum I personally would wash/clean everything but that’s just me.

Lilothblos · 20/11/2023 10:46

@Firsttimerugbymum I feel the same about work too!! I’m not able to start the handover process until mid December and people keep asking me about things that aren’t being implemented until I’m already gone. Feel like I really shouldn’t be / can’t be bothered to be making all the decisions! Wish I could start winding down.

I’ve had similar thoughts re hand me downs, think I’ll probably wash them anyway just to freshen them up.

Luhou · 20/11/2023 10:51

Just come in to get checked over as pain getting worse.

I am so done with work. I've decided I can't worry about it and need to prioritise my health. Hence me calling in sick today. Although won't get paid which is a bit naff.

Onedayatatime24 · 20/11/2023 10:56

@Firsttimerugbymum feeling the same about work also, just pure cba, don't care. So much else to think about that it's currently bottom of my list (which it never has been before, always prioritised work!). Just trying to pass as much to my cover as quickly as possible so I can chill out 😂 I'm the same as you, technically working the first week back in Jan but have told all my clients that I'm finishing at Christmas so hopefully won't be bothered too much.

suz2285 · 20/11/2023 10:57

@Luhou hope all is ok, keep us updated

@Dannic2018 i'm def not eating more, less i'd say this trimester, not worried though i'm still huge so i'm sure baby is getting what he needs. I have had to reduce my portion sizes, also on the omeprazole as was waking up with bile etc too, but seems to be holding it off so i'm grateful for that

My hip pain and pelvis pain is my main issue just now, like others I'm carrying low, i'm not actually sure if baby has moved this week as he was head down for weeks but it feels like he's all over to the left now, so i'm not sure if he's gone transverse again!

Either way, walking is my main trigger, i was fine the end of the last week but had done very little movement, so went a short walk yesterday, well by last night i'm aching, slept rubbish and really achy today, which is also making me really fed up and emotional! I'm seeing the chiropractor tonight and hopefully if i don't walk any more it'll ease up again! But not ideal to just stop all exercise! I'm trying to do stretches/yoga type things for the pelvic region and I might have to see about finally going swimming! I've called them twice to ask if i need to book and what all their sessions mean on the app but they never call back or answer the phone!

PartRadish · 20/11/2023 11:18

Hope all is okay @Luhou

@Luhou really hope you're okay, keep us posted when you can X

@Mummyme87 I think I've caught your bug! I hope you're feeling a little better in the afternoon... I woke up in the night and I can't stop being sick even though I've got nothing left to throw up and now it's just dry retching. Sorry if that's a bit tmi! I'm hoping I'll be better by mid afternoon because I've barely managed to shove my two girls in clothes and push them onto a friend to be taken to school this morning and I've got no idea how I'll manage to look after them this evening! They're 5 and 4, so I can't really tell them to just fix themselves a sandwich!!

sashastuck · 20/11/2023 12:43

@FirstT1meMum yep 0 motivation for work. Including this week I still have 5 weeks. I’m struggling with the 5:30 wake ups now, have done them for 6 years near enough but now I contemplate calling in sick every day (I never do, but tempted to start!!)
@Luhou hope you’re okay. You did the right thing by taking the day off for sure. Take it easy x

Luhou · 20/11/2023 13:10

Thanks ladies.

I think I'm all good. Just waiting for a final test to be done but baby happy and an examination has shown no sing of early labour. Thinking most likely just a bit run down. Provided this last test comes back all clear, off home to bed to sleep for the rest of the afternoon!

Worth coming in for the peace of mind. Didn't feel like I was wasting anybodies time.

TunnocksTCake · 20/11/2023 13:14

Glad all ok @Luhou definitely worth going in for the peace of mind. I hope you get out of there quickly and can get back to bed!

I have zero work motivation and my boss is annoyingly hedging her bets and wants me to train 2 candidates next week on separate which will be full on and take up basically all my time. Seems a bit misleading to me.

Anyone have any pointers for what makes a good nursing chair? I didn't have one last time and did find it hard getting a good position on the sofa and bed so considering a second hand one this time - does it need to have arms/ be a rocking chair?

Firsttimerugbymum · 20/11/2023 13:50

@Luhou - not wasting anyone’s time if there might be an issue. I went in last week for reduced movements which turned out to be fine - this is why they’re there ☺️

I was also having cramps whilst there which they could see on the monitor - was told to come in if it got worse so you definitely did the right thing if you have signs on early labour

PartRadish · 20/11/2023 14:14

Glad all okay @Luhou and glad you went in, definitely worth it even for the peace of mind alone. Hopefully you'll be home soon and will feel much better after some rest.
