@buckingmad I'm in a similar building and on the second floor!!! soooo over the stairs. Not even got toilets/kitchen on the same floor.

Matildahoney · 16/11/2023 13:50

@suz2285 mine is a McTimoney chiro, and she specialises in pregnancy & babies, I see her every 4 weeks, have done throughout and it definitely helps (I normally suffer with my back anyway) but she's kept it at bay until about 30 weeks. I don't think I'd go to a non McTimoney one, it's very gentle, no clicky cracky movements.

Matildahoney · 16/11/2023 13:51

@WitcheryDivine @buckingmad are you both able to work from home? Stairs will not help.

suz2285 · 16/11/2023 13:54

@MrsJ6921 interesting how everywhere is different, i've had bump measured right after all of my growth scans and then sent for more scans! 😂

buckingmad · 16/11/2023 13:54

@Matildahoney I can but it's a faff. I work in tax and a lot of clients still send paper documents so I need to be organised and bring it home with me.

I've only got 4 weeks left and only work 3 days a week so not too many more days to get through. Got physio next week too which will hopefully help.

TunnocksTCake · 16/11/2023 13:59

Thanks for the PGP tips @Matildahoney wish I could avoid stairs at work - on third floor of listed building with no lift so have to take multiple rests on way up to office and back from loo which is on ground floor!

Im starting to get worried about how big this baby is going to be! Been measuring 4 weeks ahead and found out that DH was 9lb 14 when born (!!!), my first DD was 8lb 6 and measured 2 weeks ahead, but this one being a boy I expect might be taking after his father!! Already feeling movements more like I had with DD towards the end where they feel a lot more squashed in!

Finally finished the painting and got our rooms almost back to normal and furniture in the right place so I can start to organise baby's room. Want to make sure its all ready in case he does need to come early!!

lilluce95 · 16/11/2023 14:05

@suz2285 ahh thank you for the reassurance!@PartRadish hopefully it comes back negative for you ☹️ I have a feeling mine will be similar!

@Matildahoney thank you for this - didn't realise those things made it worse!

Matildahoney · 16/11/2023 14:06

@buckingmad I'm in accounts so I know what you mean!
I'll appreciate my office much more I think then! 2nd floor, but there's a lift and I live in a bungalow so don't have to worry about them.
In my head I can do the stairs, but am so much worse after when I do! I am counting down the 5 weeks I have left, not sure if I'm mad only finishing 2 weeks before my due date!

WitcheryDivine · 16/11/2023 14:08

I should probably work from home more - it's an option about half the time - but it is cold and a bit depressing working from home. TBH I'm a bit worried about feeling isolated after I go on leave and not keen to speed that part of things up.

buckingmad · 16/11/2023 14:10

@Matildahoney with my first I finished at about 33 weeks! I had loads of holiday to use up plus we were getting married at 34 weeks and I just couldn't be bothered to work.

This time I'm finishing at 36+4. I could probably do another week but our christmas do is on the day I've decided to finish on so thought it would be a good way of wrapping work up. Plus I'd like the week before Christmas off for relaxing/last min shopping.

Matildahoney · 16/11/2023 14:17

I can understand that @WitcheryDivine it's the weighing up which way you'd 'suffer' more! Will you go to groups and things to meet people?
Might be worth everyone listing where they live again (on the FB group probably) and seeing if anyone wants to buddy up as such if they live close
@buckingmad it's my first so I'm hopeful of working up to then, although I'll be 38+1. I've lost all interested already though! Just trying to get through my to do list which is getting longer by the day! And make sure my handover is good enough!

suz2285 · 16/11/2023 14:34

@TunnocksTCake wow, no thanks to the stairs! that sounds awful! I'm only in the office 2 days a week but even that is a struggle now. 4 weeks left for me too... but technically only another 8 or so days in the office hopefully! I'm running an exam on the 7th Dec which is a big one and is a full day of stress and chaos usually so i'm not sure how that will go, hopefully everyone will not expect me to be running about as I usually do! Are they saying anything about you having a big baby/measuring ahead? I'm still stressing about my measurements and keeping them below that all important line where they start saying he's "too big"

@WitcheryDivine I found WFH very isolating during covid, I don't mind it so much now with the pregnancy and the office a few days a week, so it might be a good choice, I move a lot more when I'm at home and generally feel less uncomfy! I don't know if anyone else has but i joined peanut which is like tinder for mums, and i've met a few mums locally who are due around the same time which is nice, esp since my antenatal classes are all online still!

@buckingmad was that physio though NHS, how long did it take after referral to see someone? I've heard of people being referred for online or groups first?

@Matildahoney no hoovering you say!? bonus!

buckingmad · 16/11/2023 14:38

@suz2285 no private, there's an amazing lady near me (north yorkshire) who specialises in women's health and pregnancy/post partum health. £84 for an hours consultation mind you!

I tried to get physio on NHS with my first and went private again in the mean time as it just took too long. I had physio via the NHS years ago due to a back injury and I missed one appointment (phoned to let them know) as all my trains were cancelled, I was literally stuck an hour away after work and they cancelled all my remaining appointments because I'd missed one. So that put me off ever really using the NHS for physio again tbh.

suz2285 · 16/11/2023 14:40

@buckingmad ahh ok! I'm going to the chiro next week privately and its almost £100 for a consult/treatment! crazy.... I did ask for a physio referral via NHS as well though... but I'm not holding my breath on that. Doing my own exercises via other apps/you tube in the meantime!

Matildahoney · 16/11/2023 15:14

@suz2285 shame about the hoovering isn't it?! Something to do with the pushing and your pelvis, so best not to do it!
I think my chiro is £45, but that's a top to toe adjustment in 20 mins, helps that she's been treating me on and off for years so knows what usually needs doing. But worth every penny.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 16/11/2023 15:28

Anyone with toddlers, are you planning to leave them in daycare, take them out, or cut down their days?

Debating this now with my partner. I've dropped my son down to four days a week starting a couple of weeks after my due date. However, wondering whether to drop more? Worried we won't be able to increase back to the full time hours when we need to however, and also that he'll be bored at home with one of us and a newborn

TunnocksTCake · 16/11/2023 15:42

@suz2285 Im only in 3 days a week - 11 days to go 😨
They havent said anything about how they will deal with it if hes big, I have a consultant appt straight after my growth scan at 36 weeks when I imagine we will discuss birth plan. Ive just got a feeling he wil either arrive early on his own or they will want to get him out ASAP!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I am actually increasing my DDs hours but she only does 2 days at present and 3 will mean she gets her full free hours entitlement which begins in Jan for us. I am trying to keep her routine as similar as possible to how it is now, she loves nursery and needs other children at the moment, Im 'boring!' Could you drop the day but put it on hold for when you go back to work? I have a 4th day on hold for Jan 2025 in case I need it.

Mummyme87 · 16/11/2023 16:25

I’ve got physio next week, but not holding my breath. Most of my pain is left side litch on the pubic bone and underneath, I do get lower back ache and other pains but that’s the worst. Getting to sleep is a nightmare now.

8 shifts To go for me ☺️ last one is 3weeks on Saturday. Can’t believe how quick that has gone. Got next scan 19th December followed by consultant appt to make plan for birth… my plan is IOL 39wks

Lilothblos · 16/11/2023 16:34

Has anyone used a TENS machine in previous labours or planning to use one this time? I’m not sure whether to get one as Boots have them on offer at the mo, although I’m conscious that there’s always the chance of needing a c-section for whatever reason and it not getting used! Hiring doesn’t seem much cheaper vs the offer price.

Marple03 · 16/11/2023 16:51

I was wondering the same thing about the tens and what people's experiences were. The midwives on the antenatal class i did were v glowing about them which made me feel like i better get one! She had an elle tens which she showed us and i managed to get a secondhand one for 30gbp/35euro. The pads are replaceable and bought separately if necessary. Message was to start using it early in labour.

Mummyme87 · 16/11/2023 17:50

Yes yes and yes to TENS. I recommend the Elle tens, I hired it myself with DS1
and they called to ask if I wanted to buy it for an extra tenner, so I did. Used it with both labours, and my doctor colleague used it for both of hers, and wants it back for her #3 also. It’s totally harmless and you want as many tools in your labour toolbox to help you get through labour.

Kalodin · 16/11/2023 17:52

Definitely recommend a tens! Used it with my 3rd son and wish I had it for all my labours

Hummusanddipdip · 16/11/2023 18:13

I borrowed a friend's TENS for ds, but because labour was so fast, I didn't actually use it.

I technically finish at 38+1, but because I'm term time I actually finish on 19th December which will be 36 weeks.
Ds was 3 weeks early and I've got the feeling this one will be early too (for some reason I've got it in my head he'll arrive on dh birthday at 35+3) I've also started having hyper realistic dreams/nightmares that I go into labour in school and my head and deputy are the ones that help me 😳

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 please do steal it, it's great fun, I try to give them really obscure treasures to find, last week it was rectangular blue bars. Dh got chocolate bars and ds went for a packet of tissues 🤣 I'm sorry it's not me with the horse, but hopefully whoever it belongs to has a brighter feeling horse.

We got the ashes back last night for our old man, it took me 5 attempts to open the bag and take him out of the box. I then spent almost an hour sobbing. Does anyone know if it gets easier?

TunnocksTCake · 16/11/2023 18:41

Definitely get a tens machine, we have used it loads for bad backs too, both me and dh and I reckon it's saved us loads in chiropractor fees over the years.

Dannic2018 · 16/11/2023 19:11

Hi all, hope you’re all doing ok. I had a scan today to see if the placenta has moved up, which it has hooray 😃. Also had measurements checked and at 32+6 she’s 4lb 12oz 😳 I thought that sounded quite big but because they don’t use the national statistics only my previous pregnancy’s she’s at 50% centile, so I imagine if she continues she’ll be 8/9lb. What do you guys think ? Is it big?
also her head is now 50th centile where she was 8% at 20 weeks and her belly is 86th 🤣 the consultant said he doesn’t worry about tummy’s as the squish it’s only head and shoulders being big that concerns him. I am back for another scan at 39 weeks to see what position and weight she is and if I can have her naturally or section. I think that’s a bit late ? But because my other 3 were late he’s quite laid back about it 🤷‍♀️
