@EL27 I'm going to the first NCT antenatal class tomorrow, looking forward to starting them!

Salamander91 · 01/11/2023 21:16

@Hummusanddipdip so sorry to hear about your dog. You've done the kindest thing for him ❤️

Salamander91 · 01/11/2023 21:16

What bedside crib has everyone gone for? I can't make my mind up at all 🙈

Onedayatatime24 · 01/11/2023 21:24

@Salamander91 we went for the SnuzPod, it was a good price at the time and has great reviews. Feels like great quality, rocks and you can take the top off and use as a bassinet downstairs which I quite like (not sure if we'll ever actually do this but good to have the option!). Looks nice too!

Hummusanddipdip · 01/11/2023 21:25

@MrsJ6921 please don't worry, whatever the result they will advice you the best way to manage everything and keep an eye on you. I'm sure someone has personal experience and will be completely willing to talk to you about it.

Again thanks for all the lovely comments. While I'm confident we've done the right thing for him, the selfish part of me wishes we had more time and he could have met the new baby. My face is so sore from crying, I'm at that point my eyes are just constantly leaking now.

@Salamander91 we're planning on using the cot attachment of the travel system (ds didn't like the moses basket we got) and then if baby doesn't like it we'll go and get a basket from smyths or amazon.

Bims2019 · 01/11/2023 22:07

@EL27 we're starting classes in a couple of weeks, looking forward to it! It's our first baby so keen to meet people as well as (hopefully) learn lots

@MrsJ6921 I've got a test for GD booked as well, for Friday. Bit unexpected, but after my growth scan today they put me at the 97th centile and they've booked one just in case. I'm a FTM so not sure what to expect either, completely agree there's always something new to contend with! Hope you're feeling ok

Matildahoney · 01/11/2023 22:59

@MrsJ6921 family member of mine recently had a baby and GD and she was told by her consultants it was down to the babies father if you have it.

Lilothblos · 01/11/2023 23:04

@Mummyme87 yes definitely room for the pram with 6 seats in use. Even with all 7 in use there’d be plenty of room.

Lilothblos · 02/11/2023 06:52

@Salamander91 we haven’t bought a bedside crib yet but are thinking of getting the Halo bassinest - think I’ll see if there are any Black Friday deals on it.

MrsJ6921 · 02/11/2023 06:59

@Matildahoney I think it depends if you have any existing diabetes risk factors like being overweight and a history of diabetes in the family which I’m not/don’t. The midwife said it’s the hormones the placenta makes ☺️

MrsJ6921 · 02/11/2023 07:01

@Salamander91 We went for the tuttini bambini cozee I think it’s called! I liked the fact you could easily take it down and use it as a travel cot when travelling to my parents up north

Matildahoney · 02/11/2023 07:26

@MrsJ6921 it can be that too, I'm overweight, 41 & my dad, brother and (late) Nan are all type 2. I tested negative. My niece who is 28, isn't overweight and has no family history of diabetes had it. My midwife said it's absolutely nothing you do during pregnancy, it's in the early stages of the placenta forming. But during childbirth my niece's team told her & her mum it was down to the father mostly. So try not to stress about it.

Luhou · 02/11/2023 08:55

@Salamander91 we had a tutti bambini with dd, but with hind sight I wish I'd got something like the snuz pod which you can rock.

LozzieLoo · 02/11/2023 09:06

I’m also confused about which bedside crib to get! I like the idea of one that can be used as a travel cot afterwards and will last for a good amount of time. Need to decide before the Black Friday sales!

FirstT1meMum · 02/11/2023 09:17

@Salamander91 we've gone with the Snuzpod. We managed to find one on Vinted that was practically brand new, just need to get a new mattress for it

Salamander91 · 02/11/2023 09:42

Thanks everyone. I've been looking at tutti bambini and snuzpod. Does anyone know if snuzpod is narrower or if its just because the legs don't stick out like the tutti bambini? I make big babies and want it to last as long as possible. There's a lot more options now then they're was when I had my last 6 years ago lol

Onedayatatime24 · 02/11/2023 09:44

@Matildahoney @MrsJ6921 I'm overweight so was tested for GD and pretty much convinced myself that I had it as you're basically told that when overweight and I'd had massive sugar cravings/low energy. So was dreading the test. Also read that the drink was disgusting and made you gag so really wasn't looking forward to it. However, the test was fine, drink was absolutely fine and my results came back completely normal. So try not to worry too much! Hope everything is fine for you! 🤞

Matildahoney · 02/11/2023 09:46

@Onedayatatime24 oh the drink was pretty vile, but only the consistency of cough medicine, I just held my nose & knocked it back as quickly as possible!

Mummyme87 · 02/11/2023 10:41

We have tutti bambini cozee that was great for DS2. It lasted about 9month and he was 10lb born. Bigger than snuzpod. They have new variants of it now aswell

Mushroo · 02/11/2023 10:55

@Onedayatatime24 the drink is gross but manageable, just has a gross chemical aftertaste.

I was diagnosed with GD and I cried for 2 days. My only risk factor was PCOS and I’ve never been overweight so it was a bit of a shock.

However, a few weeks down the line I feel so much better about it! So if you do get diagnosed it’s not the end of the world at all x

Flossiepot · 02/11/2023 11:00

Another one diagnosed with GD here, I found the drink like a strong honey flavour nothing too vile.
Diagnosed this time last week and was so down about it, quite easy to manage once you get your head around it though and you can get it for so many reasons not just weight!

Mushroo · 02/11/2023 11:37

@Mummyme87 can i ask your opinion on something?

I had my 32 week appointment today with the consultant and all was fine from a growth scan point of view, so she’s said I don’t need to see her until 36 weeks which is great.

However, my blood pressure was slightly elevated today (129/70) (this wasn’t mentioned, I just checked it from the discharge notes) and it now feels a long time (4 weeks) that I won’t be checked again, particularly as I have a family history of pre eclampsia.

Is it worth asking my midwife for a check at 34 weeks (just blood pressure and urine) or am I completely overreacting?

Thank you!

Mummyme87 · 02/11/2023 12:15

@Mushroo totally normal blood pressure. It will change during the pregnancy, in first trimester it’s always on the lower side due to haemodilution so you will see a rise in second and third trimester

Mummyme87 · 02/11/2023 12:21

@Lilothblos thanks for that info re the car. Really helpful

sashastuck · 02/11/2023 12:47

I got the tutti bambini bedside crib!

@MrsJ6921 sorry that you’re upset, hopefully you get a negative result anyway but if you do have it, there’ll be loads of support available ❤️ everything is such a worry as a FTM!
