Hi everyone

I am just wondering what everyone thinks - is this an evap line or a positive. I'm about 4 days before my period due, 10DPO
Used the clear blue early detection tests.
It came up in around 10 mins

Thank you :)
Have a nice day!

Hi lovely, were you watching the test/did you check it at around the 3-5 min mark? If it wasn’t there then and has only appeared after about 10 mins then I would be wary about counting it as a positive, I used a few of these tests in the months before actually falling pregnant and I noticed when left beyond the window they almost always end up looking like this with an evap line. I stopped using them for that reason x

Hi - thank you for your response. Yes it was around 5 mins. For me, these have never showed an evap line in the previous cycles (or even yesterday).
I know they have a lot of mixed reviews so I ordered some First Response ones now and will see over the next few days...

Ah if it showed within the timeframe it may be positive then congratulations! Do you have another you could do to check? The only thing that makes me think evap still potentially is it’s not a solid line if you know what I mean. If you’re 10dpo I’d recommend getting the early detection digital test from Clear Blue. It detects from up to 6 days before I believe and is an obvious either pregnant or not pregnant rather than looking at lines, I used that test at 10dpo and showes pregnant x

It's the early detection- but not digital. I ordered those as well now - will come tomorrow afternoon so hopefully can try with first pee the day after. Also more reliable by that point being about 12 dpo.

Evap lines generally have less colour to them. I don't think this is an evap line.. It looks positive to me BUT clearblue are notoriously unreliable. Hope you get your positive when you retest :)

IsThatTheMoon · 12/10/2023 15:38

The Clear Blue tests I have bought say that there is a 10 minute window to read the results, so if this came up blue at about 5 mins I would say that it could be a positive! I hope so for you!

On that note... the whole Clear Blue not being reliable thing is really confusing... I've read quite a few articles saying that it's impossible for a pregnancy test to show a coloured line aka blue if there is no HCG present in the urine. I can't find any articles saying that "evap lines" are ever coloured. Everything says they're colourless (greyish). But then lots of people on here say they've had Clear Blue tests showing blue lines after the results time frame when not pregnant – so confusing!

I did a little 'experiment' the other day (ha!) as have had 3 CB tests showing positive after sitting out for 10-30 mins. Not sure what DPO I am so think it might be too early for a BFP.

When I noticed these blue lines coming up after the results time window, I dipped a fresh CB test in water – no blue line or any sign of an 'evap line' showed up, even when I checked days later. The test window was still bright white.

This is just my experience and I honestly don't know the answer – I totally sympathise with how frustrating it feels to be on the fence about a result!

Sounds like trying another brand of test could be a good idea in a few days! Your HCG levels might be too low to show a BFP at the 3 minute mark atm. Fingers and toes crossed for you!!!

TokyoSushi · 12/10/2023 15:40

I'd say it;s a good start, hope it works out OP!

Thanks so much everyone - I'll keep testing over the next few days in the mornings and see what I get in the end :) fingers crossed for a BFP!

The line can be very faint within the 2 mins and still be positive…you’re better off taking a photo around then and appealing for line eyes on here!

Yes I will try tomorrow. With a different brand added on

I have repeated it in the evening (I know it's more dilated urine) with clear blue (that's all I have at home for now) and it's fainter but still a line there
Sorry - hard to take a photo (top one is the morning one for comparison)

Hi @helloiamnewhere87
The test you've done in the evening looks positive to me hun. Try testing again first thing x

Mrsttcno1 · 13/10/2023 07:40

That looks like a positive to me! Definitely test again with first wee this morning, or if you can bare to wait then do another with first wee tomorrow morning, as HCG doubles every 48 hours so the line should be much more obvious by then! Congratulations! X

Olika · 13/10/2023 07:42

Looks positive to me as the line is nicely wide 🤞🏼

MadeForThis · 13/10/2023 07:42

It looks positive to me

helloiamnewhere87 · 13/10/2023 15:51

No lines at all today - might be too early as only 10-11 dpo - so I'll keep testing every morning till AF.

Went a bit nervous this afternoon and did a clearblue early digital...said not pregnant but I heard they weren't good with early pregnancy. So I took it apart and can't see a control line where it should be about a blue line where the alleged test zone is.

It may sound like a silly question but was it definitely one of the early detection clear blues? I think it says on the box 6 days early or something like that, I got “pregnant” on those ones at 10dpo x

Yes - definitely the early ones.
Not sure what to think of when pulled apart though (within 5 mins)

You can't tell with a digital from the lines. If you Google it there's an explanation but I can't remember why.

First test looked positive, but the others less so.

DragonFly98 · 13/10/2023 17:57

Digitals always have two lines

helloiamnewhere87 · 13/10/2023 17:58

That's what I thought - hence I'm confused

Yeah - I think personally I'm too early to test as period not even due for an other 4 days....so I will try resist testing till first missed day...if I can! 😅🫣
