It will come! I didn’t have a bump at all until the last couple of days and suddenly it is here! I’m 20 weeks. Had scan yesterday and all measurements are on the 50th centile even with my tiny bump

IVFGotThis05 · 09/11/2023 07:11

@STH1988 ahhh congratulations!! Isn't it lush feeling them move!!

My 40 week due date is 26th March but I will be having them early March as they said yesterday they don't let you go over 38 weeks! What about you?

Is anyone else having really bad rib/under boob pain on the left side? I'm struggling to deal with it during the day and not getting a good sleep on a night. Midwife just thinks I'm growing and the pressure from uterus is pushing on my ribs. But she said if it doesn't ease soon to tell my maternity assessment unit. 😫

Val2021 · 10/11/2023 13:19

Hope everyone is well! Is anyone else anaemic and has any tips they could share? I do have iron tabs to take every other day but I am struggling so badly with lightheadedness! X

Hiddenvoice · 10/11/2023 13:29

@Val2021 I’m anaemic too! Was bad in my first pregnancy but doesn’t feel as bad this time, just incredibly tired and no energy.

I’d speak to your midwife as it could be the iron tablets also making you feel worse. I take mine with meals as I can’t handle them on an empty stomach.
I take tablets twice a day and can see a bit of an improvement so it might be you’re not taking enough.

Aquarius93 · 10/11/2023 17:38

@Val2021 I had to take iron tablets (ferrous fumarate every day) in my first pregnancy. I’m doing okay so far this time but expecting I’ll need them again at some point!

Have you been advised to take the tablets with orange juice? I’m sure they’ve probably told you but vitamin C can help with absorbing iron. On the flip side, having iron with dairy reduces the absorbency.

For me the tablets improved things within a couple of weeks, although they did come with their own side effects!

Val2021 · 10/11/2023 20:37

@Hiddenvoice @Aquarius93 Ah thank you both so much for coming back and sending solidarity - pregnancy is tough enough as it is without the added exhaustion 😂.

I'll defo speak to midwife about upping the dosage and will try with meals as I have been taking on an empty stomach presently! I have been taking them with vit C tablets dissolved in water but will try with orange juice too and hopefully see an improvement. Patience is also probably required from me but I'm just so done 😂 x

Anyone else started shopping for baby yet?
I’m 21&4. I’ve have bought my travel system, a bookshelf for the nursery and have a wish list I’m working through once I’ve cleared out the room that will be our nursery.

KatY9876 · 11/11/2023 20:24

@Caroline88Cici we have our pram and car seat, clothes, prep machine, bottles and steriliser, next to me crib, baby monitor, tummy pillow and soft seat. Lots of things in Amazon basket waiting for prices to drop. Family have bought Moses basket, clothes, toys, x

Retrogamer · 11/11/2023 20:28

@Caroline88Cici
I had my anomaly scan yesterday and found out I'm having a boy. Because it went well, I've allowed myself to buy a little baby outfit. I'm hoping to find some good deals black friday week too.

Aquarius93 · 11/11/2023 21:39

Second baby for me so I’m not really sure what new things I need to buy this time round! We’re also in the middle of trying to sell our house so aren’t making any plans for the nursery just yet - he’ll be in our room for the first 6 months anyway!

I kept a lot of my daughters clothes but will soon be having a clear out and have started browsing baby boy clothes on Vinted.

Hiddenvoice · 11/11/2023 23:55

Second baby for me too so I’ve got a lot of stuff already but need to start donating and selling my little girls clothes.

I’ve got a travel system and car seat etc but not sure whether or not to buy a double buggy

Aquarius93 · 12/11/2023 09:48

@Hiddenvoice what age gap will you have between your two? I’m not sure if I’ll need a double buggy either!

Allaboard209 · 12/11/2023 10:10

Also just got the travel system and car seat and comparing other smaller items and adding to a list to get in Black Friday/Boxing Day sales.

Not sure when to really get clothes, there are so many cute items but just don't know how to figure out which size?! May just get 0-3 so that even if that is too big it hopefully lasts a while! What sizes are you choosing?

glasspaw · 12/11/2023 10:15

I’m also in this dilemma. I think we probably do need a double buggy. My son will be 2y1m when baby girl arrives and he’s still in his pram quite a lot. I just don’t love how most of them look 😂 they seem huge!

I’m most sold on the out n about nipper double but there aren’t any stores nearby that have them to try out. We have the OnO nipper sport single and we love it.

Hiddenvoice · 12/11/2023 10:22

@Aquarius93 My little one will be 23 months when baby boy arrives- think there’s roughly going to be 3 weeks between their birthdays.

She’s quite independent and would love to walk everywhere but I know I won’t be able to manage her walking and pushing a pram at the same time. She’s a confident Walker but definitely has her own little mind so will want to go her own way.

@glasspaw I’m the same, I don’t like the look of some of them and definitely don’t like the price tag either. I was looking at the Bugaboo Donkey as I know a couple of people with twins like them.

Aquarius93 · 12/11/2023 12:06

@Hiddenvoice we’ll have a 2 year 2 month age gap. My daughters the same, very happy walking but sometimes it’s nice to have the pram in case she gets tired. I’m thinking of maybe getting a buggy board but will probably leave it until much closer to the time!

gentlemum · 12/11/2023 12:58

@Hiddenvoice I'm exactly the same, the gap will be 23 months and due date is 3 weeks before my first's second birthday! Also wondering about a double buggy but currently leaning more towards not getting one and hoping I can manage with him walking/using reins/buggy board or baby in a sling and toddler in pram! I may regret this decision 😂

I haven’t yet - how did you pick what brands to buy etc for your travel system/next to me etc. I’m finding it all so overwhelming and no other mummy friends to ask about these things

Allaboard209 · 12/11/2023 13:57

@SJ456 I went into local department store with a baby section and tried out the strollers and asked for advice from the staff. They showed me how easy/hard different buggies were to collapse and had a go with them. Also read reviews on the product pages online

KatY9876 · 12/11/2023 15:17

@SJ456 if you have a John Lewis store near you, you can book a appointment to view prams, car seats etc. by booking and attending the appointment you get a voucher to use 10% off if you spend over £1000 or 15% off if you spend over £1500. We found it very helpful. X

Hiddenvoice · 12/11/2023 15:38

@gentlemum @Aquarius93 I’m tempted to leave it but I know going out and about once my dh is back at work that I’ll probably find it hard to manage both the pram and my little one walking about. If the double prams were cheaper then it wouldn’t be such a problem!

gentlemum · 12/11/2023 21:45

@Hiddenvoice it's definitely the price putting me off too! And also we paid so much for the travel system for our first I don't want to not get any more use out of it. I've got a friend who's in the same situation with a newborn and a 23 month old and she's managing without a double buggy so it gives me hope!

Ellora610 · 12/11/2023 23:51

Hi all
Just joining this thread as I’m feeling lonely with no-one to discuss pregnancy things with! 😁 OH is great but I don’t want to keep telling him all the gory details 😂
Has anyone else had problems with severe dizziness / fainting when getting up in the night? We’ve tried all sorts but I can’t figure out what’s causing it or how to stop it. Sometimes the feeling lasts for ages 😩
thanks in advance! X

Puddle13 · 13/11/2023 07:21

@Ellora610 I know that a friend of mine had the issue because of low iron levels. How were yours when they were last tested?

Ellora610 · 13/11/2023 09:18

Hi - thanks for replying 😊
My iron has been low since before pregnancy, last check at about 20weeks the level was 25 ug/L (after taking 400mg of ferrous sulphate a day for a few months). I’m now on 600mg a day 🙈 Is this iron level low enough to cause those issues?
