Sorry meant to tag @Caroline88Cici above

Aquarius93 · 13/12/2023 13:03

@Caroline88Cici I had a lot of pelvic pain and a back to back baby in my first pregnancy so used a birthing ball a lot. I work from home so quite often used it to replace my desk chair too!

They had them at the hospital but I’m tall and found the ones they had were too low for me to sit with my knees lower than my hips.

Puddle13 · 13/12/2023 21:37

Is anyone else experiencing pregnancy brain? Normally I’m super on it and I very rarely misplace things. Now it seems like an everyday occurrence and I feel genuinely mad. I’m also getting so frustrated with myself.

Busylizzie85 · 14/12/2023 02:30

@Puddle13 I not sure mine ever truly recovered after my first pregnancy but this time round on some days I'm awful!
I put the milk in the pan cupboard the other day and it took my husband ages to find it 😅

@Puddle13 You're not alone! I'm usually so on top of everything too, so organised. I'm driving myself nuts with my jumbled brain lately! I walked into the kitchen the other day and suddenly realised I'd started ten different jobs and got distracted before finishing any of them! 😂 I washed the dog blankets with no wash tablet or softener and put them in the dryer. It smelt so bad but I couldn't figure out why! Haha 🤦🏻‍♀️

Puddle13 · 14/12/2023 08:37

@Busylizzie85 @Ellora610

honestly I’m driving myself up the wall. I’ve lost my AirPods and I lost my Apple Watch for 4 days. My mum gave me a document to keep hold of for her and the only reason I found it was because I was frantically searching for something else I’d lost. It’s bloody tedious. It is good to know I’m not the only one but I honestly feel like my brain is running at 50% of its pre pregnancy capacity. It’s infuriating.

glasspaw · 14/12/2023 10:17

I’m feeling very sorry for myself today 🥲 week 29 and i’m exhausted from the moment I wake to the moment I go to bed. I feel like I’m letting my toddler down because he wants to play all the time and I am so low energy I know I’m no fun for him. I know it’s only a short period of time but I’m so worried about not making the most of these last months with just me and him.

its making me really wonder how I’ll cope with a newborn as well 😆

Ellora610 · 14/12/2023 13:42

@glasspaw Hey. Sorry to read you're feeling low today ☹️ I definitely think you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. I'm 28 weeks, have no small children around and I'm totally knackered too! I can't imagine already having a little one to look after - you're doing a really tough job atm! Like you say, it is just temporary. These last 2/3 months are a means to the end goal; extending your family and creating another bundle of joy, to create more amazing memories with. Your son is unlikely to remember any of this, he'll just remember growing up with a loving mum and his soon-to-be sibling! 💜 Stay strong, this will pass soon xx

glasspaw · 14/12/2023 13:59

Thank you 🥹 these hormones do funny things to us!

Ellora610 · 14/12/2023 14:08

@glasspaw Oh I know, they're responsible for so much! I thought emotions were meant to be hardest to deal with at the start of pregnancy, but mine are still all over the place! My partner literally deserves a medal at this point 😂🤣 x

RooSut25 · 17/12/2023 09:07

@glasspaw I'm exactly the same - I have an 18mo who's all full of energy and I just can't keep up with her anymore. I can barely even carry her up the stairs now :-( I can't imagine what it's going to be like in another couple of months!

My husband is great as he helps out loads, but it feels like he's becoming the "fun one" now and I'm being left out!! Which I know is silly but really gets me down some days.

Hiddenvoice · 17/12/2023 14:12

Sorry to hear you’re feeling low @glasspaw
I have a 20 month old and she’s great fun but non stop. Please make sure you’re asking for help and definitely don’t feel guilty about it! I had a half hour bath the other night and its amazing how rested and full of energy I felt afterwards!

I was exhausted in my first pregnancy and felt like I was on the go constantly but I’m reminding myself I’m like Wonderwoman right now with working, looking after my dd and being pregnant.I do heavily rely on my dh though and I’m glad he’s happy to do more than his fair share of the housework!

glasspaw · 17/12/2023 19:42

Thanks @Hiddenvoice and @RooSut25 - it’s reassuring to know that it isn’t just me finding this bit hard. My husband is amazing but we don’t have local friends or family that we can really ask for help so it’s all on him when I can’t cope.

bring on march! I just want her to get here safely and then start getting my body back 😆

Anyone had/got the GD test coming up? How was it / any tips?

I’ve got mine tomorrow!

No tips or anything, been told to eat normally for me as if you do have GD but try and make it seem like you don’t then baby might become unwell etc

I am a little worried about being really hungry which normally makes me feel sick :(

when is yours?

Allaboard209 · 18/12/2023 14:46

@SJ456 hope it goes well! Mine is after Christmas so thinking about all that over-indulging on Christmas Day affecting it eek! Probably has no affect but hey haha

Busylizzie85 · 18/12/2023 16:03

@SJ456 let us know what it is like and how it goes. I have mine on Thursday and I'm dreading it ☹️

I had 3 GD tests with my first pregnancy.
Just eat and drink normally until they cut off time- mine was 10pm the night before.
They called me in for the test really quickly, took my bloods and then drank the drink quickly then completed the paper work. I decided not to work inbetween the tests so I wasn’t too tired or feeling unwell.
I didn’t like the taste of the drink but you can’t sip water or take a mint/ gum but the taste passes quickly.
I took food with me for when I returned for the second blood test so I could eat straight away.
(I had the test at 28 weeks, 32 and 36 so only did this at 35 when j round it really hard not to eat).
I got told if they didn’t phone me by 3pm then I’d be all clear and just to check badger app by end of the day for the results.

It wasn’t as bad as I thought although my trust no longer use the orange drink but a neutral drink diluted with water. It was quite a large volume to drink on an empty stomach though!

then you need to sit around for 2 hours which I found the hardest part so make sure you bring a book! They have told me they will let me know the results on Friday (such as fun Christmas present!) but not sure if they will show on badger before this or not

if your a difficult to bleed person (I am) then make sure you drink some water before you go as being starved makes it harder to get bloods

Hope your test on Thursday goes okay

Busylizzie85 · 19/12/2023 11:15

Thank you @SJ456 that's useful to know! Mine is at a birthing centre round the corner from my house and thankfully they have scheduled a midwife appointment in the waiting period so hopefully it will go quicker, but I do also have a book to take.
Hope I can stomach the drink 😬

Hi all, I've just got home from my midwife check-up and am trying not to have a full blown panic....! She said I'm three weeks ahead of where I / baby should be, when she measured fundal height, so she's referred me for a scan. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

Thanks loads in advance!! 🙏🏼💜

Hey

I don’t have personal experience of this but don’t want to read and run! What this means is that your bump is measuring a little big for where your expected to be - this could be due to a number of reasons but is better identified via scan. It might be you have some extra fluid around baby which needs to be monitored etc

I know it’s easy for me to say but try and keep calm for now and await the appointment and don’t google! Not sure if the Tommy’s website might have some more reputable info on it

Ellora610 · 20/12/2023 16:57

@SJ456
Thank you... I've unfortunately already googled! 🙈 I'm already anxious as this is an IVF baby, following a rough journey.
I'm not sure how long I'll have to wait for a scan, given the time of year but I'm going to try and stay calm and positive.
Thank you xx

Sorry you're having a rough journey and have this extra stress before Christmas. I know easier said than done, but just wanted to say try not get yourself stressed about it - midwives measuring fundal height can be very inaccaurate depending on where they measure to/from, this happened to one of my friends. But if you truly are measuring bigger, it'll be either because of a big baby or extra fluid around baby. Again these shouldn't be things to worry about. Might mean you end up needing to have a glucose tolerance test to check for gestational diabetes, if you haven't already. I'm sorry your midwife didn't explain all this to you to reassure you 😔

LeopardLover · 20/12/2023 19:05

@Ellora610 Oh sorry you're feeling stressed! I was referred in my last pregnancy and it was just a blip. It's so easy to get the fundal measurements wrong and you just end up with an extra excuse to see baby on a scan. I was suddenly back on track the next time I was measured 🙈 hoping you get your scan booked in soon zx
