Anyone here in a similar position? I'm feeling a bit of an odd one out on forums now where I don't feel pregnant pregnant and I don't feel infertile infertile, and thought I'd see if others were in the same, tentative situation. I don't feel like I'm ready to join the main May 2024 gang until I'm more confident this will continue.

I'm only 4 weeks 5 days :/

@ASGIRC welcome! I'm fascinated by the different ivf vs nhs dating, hoping I get to the point of an nhs date.

@KG1244 interesting that it works like that, I had no idea you self-referred etc. My pursuit of a nice enough non-alcoholic wine will continue for now.

@IVFAlone good luck, I hope your scan goes well, keep us posted.

@hopefulmum46 annoying they don't test the partners. My husband knew his because he used to give blood, whereas I had no idea.

@TheBirdintheCave hopefully you're feeling a bit better. Good luck for the scan.

@MaybeBabyTwo I'm really sorry to read this, did you go to the EPU for an early scan?

@countrypunk hello, I think we're all understanding of the whole ivf infertility process so feel free to join in, I just set it up for May originally because I was due in May, then edited it but it's flexible!

@thislittlebird Ah thanks! I remember you from another thread - my partner also has antisperm antibodies. And I have low ovarian reserve. Great combo! (Not)

How are you doing? Congratulations ❤️

@MaybeBabyTwo I don't know your full story but have just read your update and wanted to send some support to you. This process is so f'ing tough. Take care of yourself.

thislittlebird · 27/09/2023 13:12

@countrypunk yeah, I can't remember what we chatted about, maybe it was the MFI/ASA stuff! I don't have low ovarian reserve so far but I do have age working against me so could really do with this one working out! Thanks and congrats to you too!

I'm ok, I'm currently having a job meltdown? dilemma? panic? Unclear. I'm going to bore you all with it. Basically, I've ended up with two interviews in the coming weeks lol. I've been in my job nearly 5 years and that was never the plan, but IVF and infertility for 4 years kinda changed the plan and I was hesitant to leave. I've now got the following three jobs in my possession or an interview:

  1. Current job - average pay, boring, good pension, took it for the 5 months full pay mat leave in 2018 thinking we'd have a baby by 2020, and obviously we did not. It's mostly wfh but not fully which is what I want long term and it's low stress, supportive manager. I do think we could use the 5 months full pay, and I think I'm leaning towards staying put.
  2. External job interview - same job, better pay, better pension, fully remote (which would allow us to move out of London), flexible and the manager seems chilled - obviously no mat pay here, I'd only get Maternity Allowance if the pregnancy continues and not sure we can afford that. Also a written test required.
  3. Internal job interview - already had an interview for the same job externally and didn't get it. Had to do a 6 minute presentation for that one and didn't have enough content really because I don't do the job and this new one internally wants a 10 mins presentation, and it's a 2 year contract. I'm not really seeing the point? I don't think I'll get it and as nice as it would be to finish at this place with another more senior role on my CV, I'm not sure it's worth the stress.

Scan is October 5th, interviews are the week after. I think if the scan goes well, I might go through with only the external just to show willing. I really am not seeing the point of the 2 year contract (as a secondment) and the stress that will come with prepping this presentation. If the scan goes badly I would definitely do the external one. As you can see, I'm a bit confused about what to do. I want the full remote role, but this is just bad timing and I think we need mat pay really.

@IVFAlone I hope your scan went well this morning!

@TheBirdintheCave I tell everyone this, but symptoms are not a good indicator of how well the pregnancy is going. In the other thread, one of the girls had HG and then her early scan was bad news. And she still had HG until the surgical management.
My nausea comes and goes. Last week was AWFUL. I was nauseous all day, every day. This week, absolutely nothing! And my baby is alive and kicking!

So dont get ahead of yourself. You will have answers tomorrow and I have everything crossed for good news!

@thislittlebird I was sure they wouldnt change IVF datings, but clearly, they do. So now my baby is due even closer to Easter, to make sure it is well and ruined for me 😂😂(Easter is almost as important as Christmas where Im from 😂)

thislittlebird · 27/09/2023 13:42

@ASGIRC yeah I had heard they do and they basically say whatever, we don’t care about when you transferred lol. I’m too scared to talk about due dates because it seems too far away but if it goes well then it’ll be around my own birthday 🙃

OP posts:
ASGIRC · 27/09/2023 13:47

@thislittlebird Ugh that sucks!!! I share a birthday with my stepsister, and its the worst. Well, nowadays not so much, cause I try my best to not speak to her, and absolutely do not care, but its tough for my stepdad, who has to divide himself between the 2 parties!
But due dates are just an indicator. Only about 10% of babies are actually born on their due date, so theres that!

Im hoping to have mine at 37/38 weeks. I hear the older you are, the less likely they are to let you get to term, and I will be 41 by then, so Im hoping that works out! 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 27/09/2023 14:16

My son's due date was a five days before what would have been my granddad's 100th birthday. I was desperate to give birth on the 23rd and I was in labour then but he was born the day afterwards 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

This baby is due two days before what would have been my grandma's 97th birthday.

CazzyM1983 · 27/09/2023 15:28

@TheBirdintheCave don’t panic! My nausea and sickness is never the same. I’ve had days where it’s not been there at all and I’ve obviously thought the worst. And I get it morning, noon and night. There’s no pattern to it.
If you’re feeling really anxious then ring your hospital pregnancy unit and they will do a scan to check and put your mind at ease x

CazzyM1983 · 27/09/2023 15:32

So today I’m ten weeks and I decided to make a plan to wean off my medication. Eeek!
so today I have cut out my lunchtime estrogen. Going to do that for a few days and then reduce it again! scary times!

CazzyM1983 · 27/09/2023 15:36

@Halsi hope your scan went ok x

TheBirdintheCave · 27/09/2023 15:53

@CazzyM1983 Thanks :) My 7 week scan is tomorrow at 9.40 so thankfully not too long left to wait now. It's just weird not to feel so desperately ill morning to night as I have done for the past five days or so.

CazzyM1983 · 27/09/2023 16:07

@TheBirdintheCave ahh right ok well I hit mega bad sickness projectile vomiting one weekend when I was 8 weeks and then I had nothing at all for two days and I was getting twitchy so I understand how you’re feeling. It just feels wrong doesn’t it.

Hopefully all positive for tomorrow. I’d say don’t worry but I know I would be stressing until I see that heartbeat.
Hope tomorrow comes quickly for you x

Misty84 · 27/09/2023 17:25

@ASGIRC I’m curious to know where you’re from where Easter is the same big deal as Christmas?🙂
Could be worse…I’m due a week before our wedding…which we’ve already paid £3k towards🤦‍♀️ Hoping the venue are going to be flexible about us postponing and not take all our money- trying to have this baby has already cost a fortune!!!

@countrypunk I have the same great combo as you, low ovarian reserve and anti sperm antibodies!🕺🏻🙄

Misty84 · 27/09/2023 17:26

@MaybeBabyTwo I’m so very, very sorry to read your news 💔

ASGIRC · 27/09/2023 17:31

@Misty84 In any catholic country, Easter is a big deal. Even if you and your family are not religious. It becomes a get together as important as Christmas!
I am in Portugal.
Eeek... a week before your wedding is rough! There is no option that is good there! Fingers crossed your venue in amenable with a date change with this much notice!

TheBirdintheCave · 27/09/2023 17:43

@Misty84 I agree with what @ASGIRC said. I'm Catholic (from Liverpool) and Easter was a big deal in our house. Nanna always came round, everyone dressed up and we had a big dinner like we do at Christmas.

Misty84 · 27/09/2023 17:44

Ahh ok, that’s interesting @ASGIRC and @TheBirdintheCave 🙂🐣

CazzyM1983 · 27/09/2023 19:24

@MaybeBabyTwo I just saw your post. I’m so sorry.

Halsi · 27/09/2023 20:01

@MaybeBabyTwo I am so,so, so sorry for the loss of your precious little one. It is truly devastating. Please DM me at any time, miscarriage is such a lonely experience xxxxxx

my scan today went OK. I have been discharged from the clinic, baby is still growing and heartbeat but measuring behind. It is annoying me but have to keep positive!

How did you get on today @IVFAlone ?

Good luck to those with scans tomorrow🍀

ASGIRC · 27/09/2023 20:44

@Halsi what is "behind"? When I had my scan at 6+6 the baby was measuring 6+4, which I was told is completely normal, since were talking about milimiters.
How behind were you?

Halsi · 27/09/2023 21:26

5 days, again the docs told me they are happy with anything inside the week. Just feels too close to a week for me🙈 tbh if they told me it was 1 hour behind I would still freak out, i have no rational thoughts anymore🤣

ASGIRC · 28/09/2023 12:10

@TheBirdintheCave hope your scan went well

TheBirdintheCave · 28/09/2023 12:35

@ASGIRC It did :D Wee one measures correctly, has a heart beat and is in the right place 🙏🏻

ASGIRC · 28/09/2023 12:39

@TheBirdintheCave amazing!! And there you were throwing in the towel yesterday!

Symptoms mean NOTHING! Just keep with that mantra! Scans are what matters and now you're really really pregnant!!
Book your booking appointment! 😂😂

TheBirdintheCave · 28/09/2023 13:42

@ASGIRC Yes I'm going to have to force myself to do that x_x
