Anyone here in a similar position? I'm feeling a bit of an odd one out on forums now where I don't feel pregnant pregnant and I don't feel infertile infertile, and thought I'd see if others were in the same, tentative situation. I don't feel like I'm ready to join the main May 2024 gang until I'm more confident this will continue.

I'm only 4 weeks 5 days :/

@TheBirdintheCave you've gotten to 7 weeks! There's a heartbeat! It's time!
You can do this!

KG1244 · 28/09/2023 14:03

@TheBirdintheCave ah yay! Amazing news ❤️

KG1244 · 28/09/2023 14:05

Also, I feel like utter cat shit today. Had to take the day off sick. Pregnancy symptoms can get in the bin (feel so guilty saying that because I honestly feel over the moon / blessed to be pregnant) but can’t I just feel regular, manageable shit 😂

thislittlebird · 28/09/2023 14:41

@TheBirdintheCave congrats! It's hard after IVF and infertility, but hopefully you feel better now.

@KG1244 Hopefully it's a blip and not an ongoing thing! I'm back to being ravenous, just constantly hungry. It calmed down for a couple of days and now it's back.

@KG1244 Stop that! Dont feel guilty. Being pregnant is the PITS and no one warns you about it.
You dont have to feel grateful for feeling shit. They are separate things.
Dont let anyone tell you otherwise!

KG1244 · 28/09/2023 15:31

@thislittlebird yes I hope so ❤️ Yes I’ve had that on and off. It’s insane isn’t it! I would eat lunch and feel like it was a starter and I was ready for my main course haha. Eat all the food!

@ASGIRC thank you, I really appreciate it and I know it’s true but its so hard not to. It’s taken us three years to get here so I just feel like I need to be grateful and hope and pray that things progress well and bebe is safe and well.

For any one that is ready (cause I know some things take time) I downloaded a period tracker app which also works for tracking pregnancy. It shows you baby size and gives you tips each day. It’s called period calendar.

ASGIRC · 28/09/2023 15:37

@KG1244 You can be happy to be pregnant, and also hate being pregnant. They are not mutually exclusive.

I was honestly really cross with a friend that tried to make me feel like I should be overjoyed for "creating a life". And while at the time I didnt know how to respond, it solidified my feeling that what i feel is ok. It is ok to not like the process and just be excited for the end result.

I dont like being pregnant, I want it to go past quickly. And I wont be apologising for it.

CazzyM1983 · 28/09/2023 15:48

@TheBirdintheCave Yey! So glad your scan is all good! Isn’t it amazing when u see the heart beating 😍

@KG1244 i feel like I can’t complain because well this is what the plan was so I feel like I can’t moan to other people around me.

I feel ok moaning on here tho so I’ll say it… I FEEL YUCK. My head hurts. I’m tired. I can smell weird things that are not there. I can’t decide what I want to eat. I can’t leave the house for more than 30 mins without getting dizzy and I’m permenantly nauseous and sick so whoever called it morning sickness was a complete womble. I can’t exercise (I have adhd so this like the worst thing ever). Everything’s is irritating me and I keep crying at random things on tv 🤦‍♀️

BUT I am obviously very grateful. I’m just finding this whole pregnancy thing tough especially after all the ivf shizzle beforehand.

CazzyM1983 · 28/09/2023 15:51

@ASGIRC AMEN TO THAT!
Im trying to enjoy it but it’s just a terror filled, nauseating, rollercoaster that makes me tired and grumpy. And why do I permenantly have hiccups? 🤦‍♀️🤣

ASGIRC · 28/09/2023 16:01

@CazzyM1983 I burp every 2 seconds and I honestly cannot stand it anymore!! 😂😂
Fortunately this week the nausea has not made an appearance, but I still don't want to eat anything (my main issue has been aversions to everything!).

Obviously I'm glad I am pregnant. I chose this, with IVF! I want a baby! But it is fine to not be thrilled with how it makes you feel!

And I'm sure that's valid for the baby stage as well!

thislittlebird · 29/09/2023 07:48

@KG1244 I’ve had it since 2dp5dt, same on my chemical cycle, it’s annoying lol

So there’s train strikes announced on the day of my scan. Have emailed my clinic to see if I can do it at a nearer satellite clinic, it will be an annoying journey there and back that day.

Pleased to see I have a few other pregnancy buddies not loving the symptoms. My indigestion last night was an absolute bitch. Definitely buying some Gaviscon today! I’m holding out hope that the second trimester will be good. I also want to wear one of those tight jumper dresses and show off my bump. I feel like I’ve earned it 😂

@thislittlebird do you mean the headaches? That’s rubbish! I’m sure the clinic will let you go somewhere else, does seem reasonable. Or maybe you could go the day before the strike?

thislittlebird · 29/09/2023 08:29

@KG1244 no, the hunger. I know lots of people say you don’t get symptoms until 6 weeks and it’s the meds but I definitely did and have. The progesterone seems to give me zero symptoms (5 x failed transfers as evidence!) but HCG seems to be a different matter.

No, they can’t move it to London Bridge. So I have to trudge off to Chelsea and really don’t want to delay it, I’m already anxious they’ll find nothing. But saying all this, I just checked again and I’m wondering if my husband got the date wrong when he told me there was a strike that day, I’m not seeing it. I’ll go check again.

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 08:35

@thislittlebird Eugh I feel your pain. I was going through my monitoring scans for my first FET when the last big strike was on. Travelling into Denmark Hill from Sussex for three days was such a pain in the bum.

KG1244 · 29/09/2023 08:35

@thislittlebird I agree. I also had less symptoms with the progesterone on my successful cycle so it really doesn’t make sense.
I know there are TfL strikes next week. But there is still a bit of time, maybe they will negotiate and get called off

thislittlebird · 29/09/2023 08:36

Ok, I went on my laptop and checked, he's talking nonsense. There's no strikes on the 5th on the lines we need from what I can see. There's strikes in other ares though. So hopefully won't be as difficult as initially expected.

@TheBirdintheCave Yep, I had the same thing on my second ER I think. I remember them telling us to get a cab back and we couldn't because of the strikes. It took ages.

Hi, hope ok to join in, sad and yet reassured to hear I'm not alone in my worry. Context is I've had endo for yrs, one ovary down and now 40 and trying IVF after 5 yrs of trying when 39... First round 2 blastocysts transferred and both failed, none to freeze, this second round one top quality embryo transferred and only 3 weeks in, but testing positive strongly on all tests. Feeling really unsure about trusting that it will stay as never got this far before but feeling hopeful. First scan in 2.5 wks... just doing the same as others testing and monitoring symptoms trying to stay positive without building myself up for a let down, it's a hard balance.
I'm worried because I've always needed progesterone to stop periods but clinic I'm under won't prescribe it for more than a few weeks after fresh transfers so a bit nervous about my body having to take over all chemically this early...we shall see.

thislittlebird · 29/09/2023 09:13

@Jpos you're more than welcome to join! I'm 40 too, feels like a huge weight to be carrying at this age. When was your transfer? Sounds like you're a week or so behind me.

TheBirdintheCave · 29/09/2023 09:14

@Jpos Welcome <3

CazzyM1983 · 29/09/2023 11:52

@Jpos Hello! Welcome! I’m 40 too! I’m 10 + 2 at the moment. Counting down to my 12 week scan and super stessy about coming off meds.
I’ve never got this far before and I am just taking each day as it comes xxx

ASGIRC · 29/09/2023 12:21

@Jpos Im also 40!! Seems like theres a fair few of us!
I am 13+2 and just had my 12 week scan earlier this week!

im sure your body will produce the progesterone you need to keep the pregnancy!

Jpos · 29/09/2023 12:24

@thislittlebird Transfer 2wks ago of 5day fresh blastocyst...v early yet but strong positives and further than we've ever got before 🤞

Jpos · 29/09/2023 12:27

@ASGIRC that was the guidance of the docs despite my concerns so just have to trust in it. Not easy at this stage in life when it's just not happened for us. Feeling positive but don't want to kid myself too...it's definitely a hard balance to get right as so full of future thoughts right now, need to reign it in 😁

Jpos · 29/09/2023 12:33

A@CazzyM1983 Yeah it is a worrying time but you're nearly out of the worry zone so stay positive! All worried for most likely for no reason...have to trust our bodies know what to do. I stopped meds yest as advised and just hoping all continues as expected. Fingers crossed for all of us 🤞

Misty84 · 29/09/2023 13:29

Congrats and welcome @Jpos. I’m 39, hot on the heels of all the 40 year olds!😛

Im nearly out of the alleged worry zone but don’t think that’s going to make a difference to the worry unfort! When it comes to having a real life baby FINALLY, I’ll believe it when I see it!! 🙃
