Anyone here in a similar position? I'm feeling a bit of an odd one out on forums now where I don't feel pregnant pregnant and I don't feel infertile infertile, and thought I'd see if others were in the same, tentative situation. I don't feel like I'm ready to join the main May 2024 gang until I'm more confident this will continue.

I'm only 4 weeks 5 days :/

@TheBirdintheCave yes 10w today! All my symptoms have been subsiding for the past few days. Today I feel okay enough to eat.

not sure who to contact to find out about my scan. I’ve had my booking appointment and felt like a proper imposter being there. Still can’t believe I’m pregnant xx

CazzyM1983 · 19/10/2023 13:12

i need advice please. I’ve got brown discharge when I wipe and I’ve got light cramps. My hormones have been mental today and boobs hurt and feel sick etc. do you think I should ring epu or am I being stressy?

countrypunk · 19/10/2023 13:28

@CazzyM1983 How many weeks are you? Brown spotting and cramping is perfectly normal in early pregnancy. I had it. I still have mild cramps from time to time now and I'm 18 weeks. If you're worried then phone your EPU or midwife but unless you have actual blood they probably won't scan you.

The chances are everything is absolutely fine. I know it's impossible not to worry. It doesn't stop!

CazzyM1983 · 19/10/2023 16:56

@countrypunk i rang my midwife…who never rang me back! Discharge seems to have eased now but if it starts again I’ll ring epu.
I harassed all my friends who have kids for reassurance. I’m 13 weeks 3 days x

countrypunk · 19/10/2023 17:40

@CazzyM1983 Urgh I hate waiting for them to call back! Did your friends reassure you? I had a small bleed and then spotting for a week at 12 weeks. All was well. Pregnancy is 9 months of terror!

KG1244 · 19/10/2023 17:51

Urgh it’s such a head fuck. I mean I also had brown discharge for about 16 hours at 9 weeks and then it disappeared. I ended up getting a scan as I had completely worked myself up. It’s worth remembering that it is a symptom listed on the nhs website so it’s completely normal. Try not to panic. I know it’s so much easier said than done. Hope you hear back from your midwife soon and they can reassure you xx

KG1244 · 19/10/2023 17:52

Just to add, when I spoke to the pregnancy unit when it happened to me, they said they would only want me to come in and get checked if it was bright red and filling a sanitary towel. Otherwise, not to worry.

CazzyM1983 · 19/10/2023 20:07

@countrypunk @KG1244 thanks for your reassurance. The midwife rang me ridiculously late and said if it’s red blood go to hospital otherwise don’t panic.
so I feel much better now but it has made me nervous.

countrypunk · 19/10/2023 21:23

@CazzyM1983 Glad you're feeling better. Spotting is so common, doesn't stop it from being scary though.

IVFAlone · 19/10/2023 22:32

@CazzyM1983 glad the call has reassured you a little.

I’m having a nightmare of a day, so hoping someone feels the same. Woke up today at 10w and my symptoms have literally disappeared overnight. What little I had left nausea etc has just poof gone. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this?

countrypunk · 19/10/2023 22:52

@IVFAlone Totally normal, your placenta is starting to take over. You may find they come back. My morning sickness got quite patchy from about 9 weeks. Enjoy a day of feeling normal!

CazzyM1983 · 20/10/2023 07:01

@IVFAlone my symptoms come and go to varying degrees still. They will come back in sure!

thislittlebird · 20/10/2023 08:44

Dreadful day yesterday. I’ve probably mentioned already my only period symptom is migraine and headache. So I ended up getting a migraine yesterday, or something slightly short of a migraine. Ended up in bed from about 5pm, slept a lot since then. Feel a bit better today but it really stresses me out because my association with migraine is always my period coming and I worry things are going wrong. Hopefully it’s all ok and it’s just fluctuating hormones causing it.

@CazzyM1983 hope you’re feeling better today

@thislittlebird sounds like a lot of us had a yuck day yesterday!
I had bad migraines at the beginning of my pregnancy. I get them usually just before my period so I totally get how you must have been worried. I’ve not had a migraine for a few weeks now thankfully.
Hope you have a better day today! X
i feel all shakey cos I had a fright yesterday. Even tho I know that sounds dramatic and really it was nothing. It doesn’t half knock you when you have a little panic. Now I’m being all extra cautious about everything

thislittlebird · 20/10/2023 09:13

@CazzyM1983 I’d be the same in your situation and I’m sort of prepping mentally that it’ll happen to me eventually and I’ll have a meltdown. It’s very common in ivf pregnancy.

I really hope I don’t get one for a while now, I thought I was going to be in luck and not get these throughout, hoping this isn’t the start of a migraine trend.

Also want to complain about how late the ONS baby name data for 2022 is this year. It’s not even accurate on their release calendar, very annoying to me!

I think yesterday was a bad day for us all. I was feeling really anxious cause I wasn’t sick yesterday which hasn’t happened for well over a week. mad I know but it freaked me out that my symptoms are disappearing. Part of me is tempted to try and get a private scan tomorrow but I don’t know whether it’s a bad idea and I should just wait till 30th for my 12w scan. A friend of mine also told me yesterday that she had no heartbeat at her viability stage which also made me really anxious (and very sad for her as well). Pregnancy feels so fragile. I really hope at some point I can feel excited and upbeat and not just nervously waiting until baby is in my arms.

OMG right?? It's normally September and I'm so cross 😂

thislittlebird · 20/10/2023 10:21

@TheBirdintheCave yes!!!!! I haven’t been in the position to use it in any way ever and now I am and it won’t come out :/

I DMd them and they sent me a message with an email address to contact but it’s not like they’ll tell me anything, I guess. maybe if we all email they’ll get fed up and release it 😂

@KG1244 i worry it might always be like that for us, sadly. I feel ok after the scan and then just think it’ll all be over at the next one. The 30th isn’t too far away now, mine is the 26th and I’m fretting it’ll be a mmc.

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 20/10/2023 10:24

@thislittlebird Let me know if they give you a date! Even an approximate month would be nice. How can I check on my obscure names if I don't have the data? 😂

Also, I feel the same way with scans. Panicking it could all be over tomorrow and wishing I'd never booked it.

KG1244 · 20/10/2023 10:26

@thislittlebird it just feels like another thing that infertility robs you of. I think you’re right. It’s just how it is. I didn’t realise our dates were so close ❤️ Let’s keep positive thinking and hope for the best - it’s all we can do. ❤️

thislittlebird · 20/10/2023 10:38

@KG1244 is your next one 12 weeks? Mine is 9.5

@TheBirdintheCave ok I’ve emailed them. I’ll let you know if they reply. This is the email in case anyone else wants it 🫠: [email protected]

My current top boy name is unusual these days and 700 and something in 2021 and I expect it to have moved up but not a great deal. I’m more worried by my favourite girl names which are higher up, I really will be annoyed if my favourites have leapt up the charts lol

OP posts:
KG1244 · 20/10/2023 10:43

@thislittlebird oh mine is 12. Are you having yours privately at 9.5? X

TheBirdintheCave · 20/10/2023 10:46

@thislittlebird My son's name, Gilbert, is a rare gem in the charts and currently stands at 1218. I love trying to find names that people know but never hear. Conrad is our current top boy name (current rank 1448). It peaked in 2006 and has been steadily falling since.

ASGIRC · 20/10/2023 10:47

You dont have name data for 2022 yet?!??!

In Portugal we seem to be obsessed, cause its released literally days into the new year! And its big news in all the news outlets what the top 10 boy and girl names were that year!

I have studied that list endlessly in the past, but this year Ive completely forgotten about it and ignored it! LOL

I have no idea what my name choices are like on the list, though I expect the girl to be about top 20, and the boy choice to be about top 50!
