Anyone here in a similar position? I'm feeling a bit of an odd one out on forums now where I don't feel pregnant pregnant and I don't feel infertile infertile, and thought I'd see if others were in the same, tentative situation. I don't feel like I'm ready to join the main May 2024 gang until I'm more confident this will continue.

I'm only 4 weeks 5 days :/

@PollywithaP yeah got one booked for next week but it’s hard not to feel all doom and gloom about it all when there’s not many signs you’re actually pregnant.

@Misty84 yeah, it’s been a long old slog to get here and it’s hard to believe it isn’t going to go wrong. I used the miscarriage odds reassurance site this morning and the odds are low but I hear so many stories of people who went to the 9 or 12 week scan and found out something was wrong, as I know you know, it’s hard to believe that won’t be me. Success is totally alien, it’s so frustrating.

@thislittlebird Oh god I was obsessed with the miscarriage probability site in first pregnancy but as I miscarried when I supposedly had only a few percentage chance of doing so, I never trusted it to feel reassured again ☹️
You had a 6 week scan and everything was ok there and you’ve had no bleeding or pain since, I really think you’ll be ok! How far along will you be at your next scan?

I think we’re actually uncomfortable with success!
My sister in law is pregnant and she’s put all pics up on Instagram since 12 weeks, I am in awe of her confidence! This is her second child and never any problems, it’s like all the constant tentative worrying that we have doesn’t even cross her mind!

TheBirdintheCave · 17/10/2023 10:16

@Misty84 Yeah I cannot fathom going through a pregnancy without all of the worrying. It's like some people have zero idea that things can go wrong (especially before 12 weeks) and just merrily assume that they're going to get a baby in nine months time. I can't imagine ever being that confident.

Misty84 · 17/10/2023 12:04

I agree with you 100% @TheBirdintheCave! How the other half (fertile people) live!

Anyway let’s celebrate that we’ve all made it to this point and are on a pregnancy thread- hurrah!🤗

thislittlebird · 17/10/2023 12:07

@Misty84 Yeah, I can imagine it's hard to have faith. And that's kinda where I'm at. It hasn't happened to me at this stage before, because I've never been here, but I know lots of people in this process it has happened to and can't imagine I'm lucky enough to not end up in that situation. I can't imagine being the person who is chilled and has no idea what could happen, but I wish I was them! Almost all of my friends have been her. No issues, a few months to conception, no miscarriages and so on.

I'll be 9w 4d at my scan next week. I think the lack of symptoms are weirding me out, although I did notice today that my boobs are looking very mottled and veiny, so I'll take that as a hopefully good sign that something is going on in there. Booking in appointment is tomorrow, is there anything I should ask them when I get there?

@Misty84 I'm still somewhat in disbelief we're both here at the same time

Yes we’ve come a long way from TTC thread 6 or whatever it was @thislittlebird!

Great that you’ve had a good sign today! I barely feel pregnant most of the time if that’s any consolation. And I do wonder how much of my ‘bump’ is just progesterone bloating and overeating!🙃

Booking in appointment was just an absolute mass of information and questions about family history etc. I found it tiring!

CazzyM1983 · 17/10/2023 16:28

@Misty84 your sister in law sounds mad. I can’t imagine being that bold! I’m going to be doubtful til the baba is safely in my arms!

KG1244 · 17/10/2023 19:48

@Misty84 yeah it is quite a lot! I also found it made things feel very real.

Also, anyone else in full beige food mode. Don’t fancy anything but beige and even that is pushing me to eat…

thislittlebird · 17/10/2023 21:25

@Misty84 very long way, hopefully I can stay on this thread!

Yeah I've noticed the boob thing today, and also had a few cramps and a weird pulsing sensation in my uterus area. I'm definitely overeating, today was another hungry day and I ordered an Indian tonight. It was very good! I'm going to make porridge in the morning so I'm having something hot and that will hopefully fill me up.

Oh gawd, going to be there all day with my family history by the sounds of it :/

Hi all, I had my nine week scan yesterday, and all looking good - caught up to one day behind. The sonographer did say the heart rate was on the high side, which is giving me another thing to worry about, but my clinic doctor says it's nothing to worry about so 🤷‍♀️

PollywithaP · 18/10/2023 11:13

@beam23 That is excellent news. Baby is still tiny so surely a fast heart rate is to be expected? Did they say how fast? I think sometimes the medical professionals don’t realise how their casual comments make us worry! @KG1244 Yup ALL the beige food. In particular rice pudding seems to be one of the only things I can keep down!

thislittlebird · 18/10/2023 11:15

@beam23 good to hear the scan went well! They do love to make us all worry.

I had my booking in appointment, they marked me down as moderate risk and referred me to a consultant based on age. They’ll do extra monitoring and tests, so that’s good. Also said I had fairly low blood pressure, so I guess that’s something to watch for.

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 11:55

@thislittlebird Interesting how they choose who will be consultant led and who won't be. I've been told it's likely for me as I had a 3b tear with my previous birth and now recurrent miscarriage but we shall see if I ever get to go to the appointment! 😂

@beam23 Congrats on the scan!

thislittlebird · 18/10/2023 12:14

@TheBirdintheCave they said to me all ivf pregnancies were consultant led at one time but it’s now changed, so she found an option to refer me on for and that was age! The Very Geriatric tick box!

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 12:17

@thislittlebird Haha I feel like we should be walking around with canes. Geriatric indeed. It's such an offensive term 😂

ASGIRC · 18/10/2023 14:54

@thislittlebird when I went to my booking appointment (bear in mind Im in a different country) the nurse told me I would definitely be referred to the hospital, due to IVF and my age.
At the doctors appointment 10 minutes later, the doctor mentioned absolutely nothing about referring me, and I think she will only consider IVF and age a risk if there are other factors like high BP or gestational diabetes or something!

IVFAlone · 18/10/2023 20:15

How is everyone feeling this evening? Just catching up on messages & a lot of people have had scans which is so good!

TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 20:30

@IVFAlone Just nervous about our scan on Saturday. How're you doing?

IVFAlone · 18/10/2023 21:01

Why nervous? Have you been having any pain or anything worrying? If not then just be positive and trust your body knows what it’s doing. I’m okay, have good days and bad days but just have to let what will be happen xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 18/10/2023 21:41

@IVFAlone Only as I've lost three before so I absolutely don't trust my body 😅

Glad you're doing ok! When is your next scan?

IVFAlone · 19/10/2023 09:09

@TheBirdintheCave ah understandable. Are you still having symptoms?

I have to wait for a letter for my 12week scan so not sure when that will happen now. Still nervous but I can’t really do anything to change the outcome xx

TheBirdintheCave · 19/10/2023 09:20

@IVFAlone You're the same as me right? 10 weeks today by "LMP"? Can you chase the midwives for the appointment? My trust is weird and I got my scan appointment weeks before I got my letter for the booking in appointment.

I still have sore boobs and nausea yes.

thislittlebird · 19/10/2023 09:55

@TheBirdintheCave did you get your booking in appointment through?

My 12 week scan is a Saturday, November 18th. I'll be 12w and 6d.

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 19/10/2023 10:03

@thislittlebird Yep it's on the 30th of Oct when I'll be a whopping 11+4. Seems ridiculous to me but eh. 12 week scan is three days later.
