My support belt arrived, not convinced by it, but will try it out. Asked my midwife to do a physio referral for me. Again, not sure I’ll get much from them but I can’t really complain if I don’t try!

1 more shift to get through then 2.5weeks annual leave

lilluce95 · 22/09/2023 19:16

@sashastuck they're all beautiful names 😍I've never heard of Koa before, that's really lovely.

@Mummyme87 you'll have to let us know how you get on with the belt - fingers crossed it gives you some relief xx

Hummusanddipdip · 22/09/2023 19:42

Hope the belt helps @Mummyme87 and have a great break!

I guess her not being concerned about the length of time between apts is a good thing @LittleAlien24?

On the cravings topic, I've had nothing. With ds all I wanted was salt (lived off ready salted pringles and roast potatoes with extra salt dipped in gravy) for a good few months. But this one, there is nothing I want or even fancy... still can't drink tea and that makes me sad, at least I've gotten over the caffeine withdrawal headaches at last!!! From 6-8 cups a day to nothing was a huge drop.

Think nesting is starting to hit me though, I've tidied and cleaned ds bedroom, the bathroom and the livingroom. Rearranged the fridge and a couple of cupboards in the kitchen since I got home from work. I'm really proud of myself, I e created a whole "help yourself" shelf for ds, so all his snacks and bits are in one place so he can just grab and go...

LittleAlien24 · 22/09/2023 21:22

@Mummyme87 hope the belt helps you. I tried one during my first pregnancy but couldn't stand it. I was more uncomfortable with it.
@Hummusanddipdip i know they take good care here (we private so that might affect it a bit) but sometimes i feel that they not concerned about many things or take them easier. I know it's just probably different here. i had my daughters back in my home country and they check a lot, ask many questions and give advice even if you not asking 😁

I keep over eating. My belly is full, i know it and feel it but brain says eat more. Stupid me listens and then regrets afterwards because im feeling so heavy and uncomfortable after eating more 😒

Guineapigfosterer · 23/09/2023 08:39

All caught up and loving the names. We are wanting to name our little one after DH's grandad who passed away when he was young. So Frank for a boy or Francesca for a girl. On the other hand im a believer of you wont get a feel if its the right name till you meet them so have Billy, Billie and Elizabeth as back ups.

Had our 20 week rescan yesterday and all is perfect which is a big relief. I just cant wait to meet our little one now.

FirstT1meMum · 23/09/2023 09:36

Turning in the night is now becoming a hard task! 🙈 Feel like a bloody flopping fish trying to turn over and the noise my hips make 😳🤣 Feels like I've gone from 0 to 100!

Inmydreams88 · 23/09/2023 11:28

My belly has popped now and I actually look pregnant, not just chunky. I’ve had lots of comments in work about how I’m getting bigger every day.

I find turning over at night hard work, I feel like I’ve got a brick in my stomach 😂Also getting up into a sitting position from the bath is also hard work.

Mummyme87 · 23/09/2023 12:22

Moving is definitely hard. I had to spin to get in the car earlier, DH thought it was hilarious however. Couldn’t lift my bloody leg up to get in. Not sure about the belt, but have to try.

24weeks today. Can’t believe I’ve got another 15weeks for this to get bigger and lump around.

buckingmad · 23/09/2023 13:21

Anyone know the deal with fish pate? DH got some today from M&S and I want it so bad 😭

Hummusanddipdip · 23/09/2023 14:21

Nhs guidelines "Whether made from meat, fish or vegetables pate should be avoided during pregnancy. It may contain higher levels of bacteria listeria than other foods. Another reason to avoid eating pate is that it often contains liver which should be avoided during pregnancy."

Sorry @buckingmad :( I really wanted a pate a few weeks ago when we went out for dinner :(

Rolling over hurts 😩

Barblarble · 23/09/2023 14:51

@buckingmad I'd eat the pate (I do eat the pate!). There are fewer than 150 cases of listeria in the UK each year. 1/5 people who get listeria die, but you don't see people avoiding pate because the risk of catching it is just so small. If you're getting in a car you're taking a risk 1000s times greater with your pregnancy than you would be by eating the pate, but no one is advising against driving!

Also on the concern about liver the worry there is vitamin A. I looked into the research on safe amounts of vitamin A and you'd have to eat more than a kilo of liver pate a day to get enough vitamin A to get to a risky dose! I think a lot of these rules are so cautious as to be actively damaging.

Lightningrain · 23/09/2023 16:53

I don’t generally eat pate but do enjoy homemade mackerel pate. If you want fish pate it’s really easy to make and probably just as nice as shop bought.

Luhou · 23/09/2023 18:06

Also experiencing pain with rolling over in bed. Gone cold turkey with potty training DD this weekend. Feeling exhausted after a long day. Pushing mine and DH's team working skills to the edge!

RootsHere · 23/09/2023 22:01

We have Josephine (Josie) and another girl on the way, the shortlist is:

-Francesca (Frankie)
-Lina (Lithuanian name, I’m from there originally)
-Adalyn (hubby’s favourite, but I’m not sure on this spelling and also rhymes with Josephine a bit?)
-Beatrice (my all time fave girl name, wanted it for DD but DH vetoed it at the time as ‘too old fashioned’. But he’s now open to using it as it’s grown on him, i.e. I wore him down I think)
-Margot (I love the idea of Josie and Margot but it doesn’t translate to Lithuanian for the rest of my family very well so that’s probably a no)

WitcheryDivine · 23/09/2023 23:21

Nice names @RootsHere

If he wants Adalyn to be pronounced “adder line” or “adder leen” that’s not the right spelling - I’d go with the traditional Adeline. I’d pronounce Adalyn “ayda lin” or “adder lin”

Onedayatatime24 · 24/09/2023 00:07

@RootsHere I love all those girls names! Francesca was on our girl list too, always thought a little Frankie would be so cute!

DH finally felt a kick from the outside tonight! After I've worried all day because baby boy hasn't been moving much 😅 they love to keep us on our toes don't they? He finished the night with some extra strong ones so I think he's fine! And I'm 24 weeks today, felt like it's flown by since 15/16 weeks. Can't believe we're 6 months!!

buckingmad · 24/09/2023 07:16

Thanks re the pate. I must admit I’ve still been having smoked salmon as I’d looked up the listeria rates and decided it was odds I could live with.

My next problem! As it’s got chillier my vasospasm in my nipples has come back. This doesn’t bode well for breastfeeding in January 😕anyone else suffer and have tips? With my first I had some gel pads that went in the microwave and DH would heat them up ready for the second baby came off the boob but it was still agony, especially when out and out and this was in August! I’ve read there’s medication you can take but it can give headaches, has anyone been on it and it was ok? I’m booked in to see the dr (3-6 week waiting list though 😳) so I’m going to mention how I seem susceptible to mastitis in that boob, the vasospasm and how I’ve now realised the area the blockage was in is completely numb to the touch, I’m guessing there’s some nerve damage from the trauma but I’m wondering if there’s something I can do to help it all heal and get better or if I’ve just ruined that boob from persevering with breastfeeding last time with a tongue tied baby.

Whoever said breastfeeding is easy 🙃

sashastuck · 24/09/2023 08:14

@buckingmad no advice but I think I might be experiencing the same thing? I just wrote out a post about extremely painful nipples when they get cold, then googled vasospasm and saw that it was a symptom!
So this affected you during breastfeeding too? When I do break time duty outside at school or visit the colder aisles of the supermarket, it can be agony X

Yep sounds like it! People seem to either get it because they already have raynauds or from trauma/hormones.

For me it was caused by DD’s tongue tie whilst I was breastfeeding. After feeding my nipple would go white and then I’d have sharp burning pains, it was the final nail in the coffin for breastfeeding for me as it was unbearable pain and by the time it passed it was time to feed again.

Went on a walk the other night and felt the familiar pain so looked down my bra and had the white nipple again. I think it can also then go purpley as the blood rushes back but I just seem to go white then normal.

Im going to look and see if thermal type breast pads are a thing and if not, knit some 😂 it really is just about keeping them warm! And unfortunately avoiding caffeine.

sashastuck · 24/09/2023 09:53

@buckingmad I see! It’s all making sense, my mum has extreme raynauds. I’ve never checked to see if they change colour when they’re in pain but I’ll try to get a sneaky look next time. I’ll buy some of your homemade knitted ones off you 😂😂 avoiding caffeine, this just gets worse and worse lol!! Thanks for the advice though X

buckingmad · 24/09/2023 10:16

@sashastuck ah yes I think having a parent that has it puts you more at risk of getting it too!

I’ll let you know what the dr says when I eventually see them. I only found out about it with my first because of a breastfeeding support group I went to. I went to the doctors so many times about it and got fobbed off every time but I’m better equipped this time with knowledge!

Mummyme87 · 24/09/2023 15:45

I think medication for Raynauds is Nifedipine which is an anti hypertensive so drops your blood pressure.

MrsJ6921 · 24/09/2023 17:57

I had my Covid booster this morning, so far feeling okay minus the expected sore arm!

Has anyone got a huge appetite at the moment? I’m 25 weeks and I know baby is going through a growth spurt so maybe that’s why I can’t stop eating 🤣

Dannic2018 · 24/09/2023 18:41

I missed so much over 2 days!
Hope you’re all ok

Lost my shit a bit earlier at my DH, you know when you are so annoyed you want to scream and cry? Well we are on renovating house and doing the chimney breast in the living room for a log burner electric fire. Anyhow I’ve been out most of the weekend helping my mum move
He moved my ds’s car seat and the m&p pushchair I’m trying to sell into said living room from his car. He’s then plastered the chimney breast today and yes you guessed plaster and dust and shit all over the pushchair and car seat! So fuming I couldn’t talk to him. So for the past 1.5 he’s stayed out of my way and is cleaning. I don’t think I’ll get organised or prepared for this baby like I did with my son as everywhere is such a mess and dirty 😩 poor baby!

Luhou · 24/09/2023 19:41

@Dannic2018 I feel you. Also renovating and DH and me keep bickering. I am sure I had a full nursery set up for my DD by now. Barely thought about babies nursery, yet. More concerned with making sure we have a kitchen.
