@gurlwhaat I'm speaking to the consultant later this morning to confirm my c section booking for 24th November when I'll be 39+1. My trust won't book them before 39 weeks unless you agree to be admitted to hospital the week before for 2 nights to have steroids to develop the babies lungs as they've found they will likely have breathing difficulties if before 39 weeks. I've seen loads of people on Mumsnet have c sections booked in earlier though so it definitely depends on your trust.

I'm worried I won't last till 39+1 as he's so low down, 1/5 engaged as of yesterday, very uncomfortable. Been having lightening crotch, a bit of spotting and Braxton Hicks.

SMG1992 · 02/11/2023 09:24

I've received some COOK vouchers as a gift which is so lovely!
If anyone else gets any (I think they are a fairly common new parent gift) you can get an additional 10% off on their website if you sign up to their new parent club.
I'm also prepping some homemade meals for the freezer too to make life easier once the baby comes (So far I've got loads of veggie pasta sauces using up my abundance of courgettes from the garden this year)!

Charlielechat · 02/11/2023 09:37

@Thamantha that's crazy how it can be so different! My friend had a baby recently and hers was fairly accurate the whole way through and at birth, but everyone else I've spoken to just seems to be so wildly inaccurate. I guess we won't really know til the baby is here!

gurlwhaat · 02/11/2023 20:45

Thanks everyone, it’s weird how they vary dates from trust to trust! I would have thought it’d be a blanket policy to not do a c section (where it’s low risk) until 39 weeks but seems like it depends on the hospital.

Nov2023 · 02/11/2023 21:17

My trust does c sections during week 39 but doesn't give a date until quite close to the date. I know I'll be in during week 39 but that leaves 5 possible days!

Nclktnntt · 03/11/2023 14:56

Heya everyone - those of you who got referred for physio for your hips, did your trust just send you a leaflet or did they actually request to see you?

I got referred because mine flair up on a work day mostly but everyday they're kinda ok in the morning and gets worse as the day go son until the point I cannot walk and this week I can't even lie down - that makes them worse somehow - and all I got was a letter with a leaflet about PGP (which is don't think mine is because when they're at their worst I cannot sit with my knees together and the pain runs down my leg making it feel numb almost). The leaflet talks about your physio offering solutions to your specific need and discussing labouring / birthing positions that will be best to try to ease hip issues - but they're not asking to see me, just sent a generic 'try this' leaflet.

OP posts:
Thamantha · 03/11/2023 17:03

@Nclktnntt mine arranged a telephone appointment to discuss PGP and ways to manage this, and then left the referral open in case my symptoms get any worse so I can get in touch for more information. The pelvic physio I was referred to emailed some videos from the hospital site which were useful. If you don't think it is PGP then it may be worth calling them to see if they can offer more helpful advice. I am not an expert but wonder if what you are describing is more of a sciatic nerve pain?

My PGP gets worse through the day if I am not managing it well - for me that means taking stairs one at a time (non painful leg first on way up, and painful leg first on way down), keep knees together getting out of the car, making sure I stand/change positions every 20 minutes, and using heat/hot baths when possible.

Nclktnntt · 03/11/2023 18:36

Hi @Thamantha thank you for that, yea I believe mines more sciatic related as it's my si joint that starts and it works its way down my leg, at night I have to get the massage gun on my butt cheek and around the joint area (not on it directly) and it eases enough that I can sleep, if I don't it gets more and more intense. I almost tried sleeping sitting up last night lol.

Normally by the morning I don't have much or any pain (depends how bad it was by the night before) first visit to the toilet during the night I can't walk that easy and use walls and things on my route to help but usually by the 3rd time I can walk normally but with a little pain and by morning I'm mostly reset again. Def think it's more sciatic based than pelvic as such.

I am gonna give them a call, just wondered if it was general across the board or just my trust. My areas normally really good so I was semi surprised by their response.

I was referred by my midwife for physio at the hospital I couple of weeks ago due to pain under bump and carpel tunnel in both my hands. Got my physio appointment on the 8th and I realllllly hope they can give me something to help! I've got no other details about from a date and time of appointment!

FirstMondayInMay · 03/11/2023 20:10

@Nclktnntt i was seen by the women’s health physio at my local hospital. They assessed my movement and then gave me a few exercises to try and ease the pain and will follow up 12 weeks after birth to make sure there’s nothing ongoing

They told me not to do the exercises for 6 weeks before and 6 weeks after birth, so that might be why they’re trying to fob you off with a leaflet☹️

Nclktnntt · 04/11/2023 08:19

Ahhh it could be due to my dates but I'm only 32 weeks (31 when the referral was put in) so I'd have expected a least a phone consult. I'll give them a call and see what they say.

Morning All,
I hope everyone is doing well and had good weekends!

We start our NCT classes this week which feels like the last big thing we need to get ticked off the list - other than putting together various bits of furniture.

I overdid it a bit yesterday as went for a walk and then did some bits in the garden which led to a really uncomfortable nights sleep! I'm feeling shattered which is not a great start to the working week... 4 more weeks until mat leave - the countdown is well and truly on!!

TulipVictory · 06/11/2023 10:42

Have had a reduction in movements for over 36 hours now really. Have felt her move but nowhere near as much. Went into the day assessment unit yesterday and was put on CTG monitoring. She passed the criteria after 40 mins and they felt that her heart rate looked good but because I still hadn't felt much movement they have booked me in for a growth scan tomorrow, I'll be 35+5.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Nclktnntt · 06/11/2023 10:47

Ohh exciting @SMG1992 we start ours next week. Try resting as much as possible after work today, my hips tell me when I overdo it, apparently packing my suitcase was the final straw for me Saturday 🙈 We really need to pull the finger out and start buying all the other things we need though the next few weeks are going to fly by. Only have a pram and furniture set. That's my job today - make a list and start ticking things off it.

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

We headed up to my husbands nans Saturday late afternoon and it's about 6-7 hour drive depending on how many stops you make. On route - over half way here we hit a huge pothole that neither of us saw, nor did the other 4-5 cars we passed just after all on the hard shoulder. We're ok, baby is fine too, but it did startle them as they started really moving around bless them. It was scary, car bounced and swerved again and there was a slight rumble from the road but we weren't sure if we were only just noticing it because of what happened. Anyway, it really made us think about what if baby was here and in the car at the time, what if the roads were busier, brains went off in one for a minute, we were incredibly fortunate, it could have been so much worse, I'm grateful for my car and that it handled it well and apart from a couple buckled wheels it's totally unbothered by what happened, fortunately. I would not have wanted to have been in my husbands car (that died last year but we used to take his as he preferred driving his to mine and it was a diesel so did better economically getting here than mine does).

I got woke up this morning by what felt like really bad stomach pains - you when your stomach turns and you're about to get diarrhoea- those low down pains, they were short lived and baby is fine jumping around so hopefully was just my body not being happy with something but it's all good now 😊

Anyways - hope you all have a lovely start to your week. We're 33 weeks soon. It's getting so close! We both feel they're going to come early, don't know why but I'm thinking a week or so, my husband thinks a couple days - Christmas Day he's betting on 😂 I hope not, I want my Christmas dinner lol.

@TulipVictory I'm glad she passed the criteria, hopefully they'll find on the scan she's moved into a different position and maybe that's causing you to feel the movements less?

@Nclktnntt I do need to try and rest, my brain is in overdrive trying to get things ready but my body can't keep up!
I know what you mean about driving, your experience sounds quite scary. I said to my husband whilst we were in the car on Saturday "you can't drive like this when the baby is in the car" to which he replied "the baby is in the car!" Seems silly but I just think of them as so safe inside me that I forget about the dangers around.

Nclktnntt · 06/11/2023 11:44

@SMG1992 Thats so true though isn't it, they do have more protection inside us than our but the dangers are still there, the same really.

@TulipVictory I'm glad she passed their markers, we went last week for reduced movements and ours passed quicker but didn't move much at all, they livened back up that night though, fingers crossed you find she's just moved like @SMG1992 has said and means it feels different to you now. As long as she's all ok, that's the main thing. If you are concerned at all though, don't wait, just go back in. At ours they said as it was the first instance and they were happy we could go but in the second instance they'll scan regardless, and they told me even if we get home and feel somethings still not right, to call and go straight back. So if you are feeling like she's still not living enough, go back in. As many times as you need too.

Hey everyone, only a few more weeks to go before our little ones arrive!

@TulipVictory Glad everything went alright with the monitoring, and fingers crossed for positive results with your growth scan!

I've had some mild cramping and quick short jabs of pain low in my pelvis - not sure if it might be relaed to baby's position because he's now turned to be head down according to the scan I had on Friday (he's very low down apparently).
Movements have changed slightly for me as well. No less, just more swepping and stretching with the odd jab and kick here and there.

I was also told that baby is measuring ever so slightly lower vs my last scan and is no just under the 50th centile line so have another scan in 2 weeks to check growth.
Finally ordered travel bundle and car seat today so that's a big item ticked off the list.
How's everyone doing with packing their hospital bag? I've started to gather some bits and then fell into the minefield of products for downstairs bits 😆

SMG1992 · 06/11/2023 14:09

@Beans1982 Ha I did that too! I've ordered so maybe different sprays/ witch hazel/ squirty bottle thing.... I'll probably end up with ecs and not have to use them 😂

Charlielechat · 06/11/2023 15:49

@TulipVictory that must have been very worrying for you! Glad you got a bit of reassurance, and hopefully all is ok tomorrow.

I've got most of my bag and baby's bag packed now and made a list of things to pack on the day - I think someone on here recommended doing that! I washed the baby clothes that I plan on packing, so just need to iron and pack away now!

Is anyone else really uncomfortable in bed now? My bump feels heavier, I have awful reflux that doesn't disappear until the morning, and baby loves to have a good roll and stretch about when I go to bed 😆 I fear it's going to be a long 7/8 weeks!

99SR · 06/11/2023 17:01

@Charlielechat ive very uncomfortable in bed too! Struggle to get back to sleep after my 4am (like clockwork) trip for a wee!
@Beans1982 my movements are like that too! Feels more just like baby is rolling or stretching out rather than kicks and punches. At my last growth scan baby was transverse though, maybe she’s moved down?!

Nclktnntt · 06/11/2023 18:37

@Charlielechat I'm not uncomfortable in bed unless my hip is playing up before bed, or I lie in the wrong position. @99SR I have my 4ish wee too 😂 I do get to sleep again but takes me longer. I refuse to turn lights on anywhere though so I'm still half asleep heading to the toilet lol.

@Beans1982 my movements are sweeping too with the odd bump but mostly sweeping type motions. I've also looked at lotions and potions but stopped as I was getting side tracked when I needed to be researching other things lol.

Is anyone else harvesting colostrum? If so,
how are you finding it? I’ve managed about half a ml so far.

SMG1992 · 06/11/2023 20:10

Im going to start trying next week at 36 weeks.
how many weeks are you @GlitterDragon ?

GlitterDragon · 06/11/2023 20:41

@SMG1992 im 36 weeks. It’s really satisfying, like squeezing a spot 😂

Nclktnntt · 06/11/2023 21:00

I was going to do this too, does it stay in the fridge? Do you have to freeze it? How long does it keep? I need to research more about the how too.
