I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

@Psqueak87 travel cot, car seat and high chair would be useful I think. It made it easier for us to have those items already in place when we went to see my family.
We have a babybjorn travel cot and it’s great, light and easy to fold up and pack away. If it’s just going to stay in one place it doesn’t really matter though if it’s bigger and a bit faffier to put away.

Psqueak87 · 01/09/2023 23:00

@Travellingislife oh thank you! Travel cot is a good idea as we will be splitting our time back home between Ireland and wales (Bf is from Ireland).

PinkPlantCase · 02/09/2023 07:37

@Psqueak87 I’d just ask the family you’re staying with to source a travel cot their end. I wouldn’t want it as an extra thing to lug around aswell as pushchair and car seats when travelling internationally. Most people know someone with one.

Spareincoming · 02/09/2023 09:35

@Psqueak87 we have a folding
travel cot from Phil and teds - you could ask family to pick one up on eBay/Facebook market place then travel with it whilst you’re here. Ours has been worth its weight in gold! I also use it when camping with a small one!
Similarly, the Ikea high chair that goes in the dishwasher comes up second hand for about £10 a lot, that might be worth acquiring as it comes apart really easily!

We also have a flight sized buggy - the mountain buggy nano, even though it’s technically bigger than Ryanair’s hand luggage policy, we’ve always been allowed to take it in the cabin. It fits in the staff “hat locker!”

Psqueak87 · 02/09/2023 18:08

@PinkPlantCase do you usually take a car seat on the plane too?

@Spareincoming thank you! My mum managed to grab a high chair from my cousin thankfully, and she found a free car seat on marketplace…although it looked pretty old so not sure if it’s even expired yet 🥴

PinkPlantCase · 02/09/2023 20:16

@Psqueak87 I wouldn’t use one on the plane as then we’d have to pay for the seat. Under 2 it’s usually only about £20 to add an infant if they’re on your lap. You can check car seats into hold but I’m always worried about it being bashed. So far the international holidays we’ve done we only used public transport or it’s been friends/family that a car seat we could use at the other end.

I think using car seats on planes is much more common in the US than Europe. I think there are certain regulations they need to comply with.

LilmissCa · 02/09/2023 20:59

@Oreopie I would look on Vinted

@Psqueak87 get your mum to organise as much possible on her side & travel with as little as possible. Can get small travel high chairs that sit on top of Norma chairs or the floor, I got one off Vinted for £15. I would use a buggy at the airport & hand in just before the flight. Esp as long haul & got so long in the airport.
But you've loads of time to sort all this out & decide 😊

UnwieldyRhombus · 03/09/2023 14:25

So sick of being pregnant - third trimester is so uncomfortable! But this is definitely my last pregnancy so also trying my best to enjoy it as I just know I'll be a bit sad that I'll never get to experience it again 😂

Yep exactly!! Is the heatwave coming your way too? I'm mad haha, I was so happy it was autumn and we wouldn't have to deal with the heat anymore! I have zero tolerance for heat right now, especially at night 😩 xx

LeeanneD11 · 03/09/2023 16:19

@UnwieldyRhombus
Yea it's so hot I'm struggling lol sticky body , and sweating places I didn't think you could lol 😂 it's driving me mad Especially at night too , I just need a thunderstorm right now xx

WriMum22 · 03/09/2023 17:43

I’m feeling the same, so ready for it to be November now, desperate to have her in my arms safe and sound and also haven’t slept for weeks with the SPD. I feel I’m just reaching breaking point with this pain at night! Physio was a waste of time, think I might have to look at going private because my hospital literally sat us in a group and talked through an information booklet, gave us a bandage tube grip for our stomachs and sent us on our way! I could have cried, I pinned my hopes on physio helping in some way.

CliniMama · 04/09/2023 08:52

Morning All,
Woke up yesterday with vertigo. I’ve never had it before but literally couldn’t stand up. Hoped it might pass as quickly as it came on but have just had to call in sick today as it’s still there.
Does anyone have any experience of this/any suggestions? How long does this usually last? It’s just so awful and now I’m starting to feel nauseous even lying down.

TMI2000 · 04/09/2023 09:14

I am so with everyone who was hoping that summer was over. Dying already and still over a week of this heat to go! I was enjoying the cooler weather and looking forward to autumn!
Fingers crossed Autumn is well on it's way after this little heatwave!

LilmissCa · 04/09/2023 12:06

@UnwieldyRhombus I'm the same as you.. definitely my last. I'm 29wks so trying to enjoy before I'm in full blown waddle mode.
Did manage the killers concert & a night away from my daughter for the first time on Friday night (took 19months 🤣) been paying the price of that since & just been told I'm anaemic .. the joys!
The heat in NI isn't as bad as the England but bad enough for me.. was hoping for bath nights when the kids got back to school!

PinkPlantCase · 04/09/2023 13:12

I had this at around 14 weeks last time, it was really bad for around a week (could barely stand up or sit up in bed and probably took about 14 days to get properly better.

The GP was keen to keep an eye on me, they even did a home visit on their suggestion because I was too dizzy to get to the surgery.

No idea what caused it, I wonder if it was a weird viral inner ear infection. I always have low blood pressure so I don’t think it was that.

PinkPlantCase · 04/09/2023 13:13

That was to @CliniMama

Mimi2022 · 04/09/2023 13:31

how do you prevent ketones in pregnancy? I realise I have had them in then morning. Are they bad for baby? I’m worried I may have caused harm 😭

CliniMama · 04/09/2023 17:46

@PinkPlantCase Thanks for sharing. Similarly my BP has been low throughout my pregnancy and since posting both the GP and MAU are thinking it’s more likely to be caused by an inner ear infection. Desperately hoping it doesn’t last as long as yours did! My friend is sending me her hospital grade BP monitor so will just rest and see if there’s any improvement by Wednesday/Thursday.

PinkPlantCase · 04/09/2023 18:57

@CliniMama I was just just glad that it got better! I had a panic that that would just be how I would be for the rest of pregnancy 😱 Glad that the GP and MAU are looking after you.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 04/09/2023 20:20

Sorry you're feeling unwell @CliniMama , hopefully resolves soon.

Still plodding along, lots of appointments for my complication bingo but hopefully will subside. First pregnancy and as much as I went into this wanting baby to have a sibling the prospect of going through pregnancy again made me start crying 😅.

@Mimi2022 how did you find out you had ketones? Treating depends on reason e.g. if you're dehydrated/low glucose due to still suffering morning sickness is very different to if the cause is gestational diabetes. Only medical professionals can advise you.

TAW2502 · 04/09/2023 20:28

@WriMum22 I had the exact same group class thing for the SPD 'physio' - was expecting a little more and a way of easing the pain but nope!!
Hope you don't feel too horrendous with it!

Chellooo · 05/09/2023 11:23

Anyone else just completely fed up with the level of care they're getting. Every Apt I've had I've been fobbed off, or told actually we don't need to see you today. I'd a scan this morning and told yeah we don't need to see you again until 36 weeks (I'm 31). I've had no discussion with anyone on birth plans/options, flip I'm even clueless on what and where to.go when I actually go into labour! I'm a ftm so am feeling really anxious about this and just feel like I'm being put through the conveyer belt with no one to actually turn to with questions

Thack · 05/09/2023 12:37

@Chellooo I felt that on my first, I'm more laid back this time. When is your next MW appointment? I think they're every 2-3 weeks now, ask your MW to run though plan at the next. I did last time, think we went through ot on 34wk instead of 36w.

I had to ask which number is for which around now, there were a few in my book and it'd been a long time since they wrote and said what they each meant.

I ring the MW or labour/assessment ward if something happens before 37 weeks. I'm not sure what the deal is after (I didn't make it that far last time!)

I don't have anymore midwife apts, the consultant just told me to go to them for growth scans from now on..I just feel like to wait to 36 weeks is quite long at this stage without any advice/support. I know I'm probably sounding dramatic but it's just given me such anxiety with all the uncertainty
