Hey all 😊

When did you all announce your pregnancies on social media? And what was your reason for doing so at that time?

Thanks so much!

Never. I think it's very self indulgent and similarly wouldn't announce I'd bought a new car, house or got married etc. To me social media is a way of connecting with individuals not updating my fans en masse.

chezpopbang · 03/08/2023 20:39

34 weeks and still haven't. I was going to but then I forgot and then I thought oh I'll wait till I know the gender. Took till 28 weeks to find that out. By that point it felt silly because everyone I cared about already knew.

I didn't and don't really understand it. Posting pictures of your insides ( scans) to people you don't see anymore but used to go to school with, doesn't seem appropriate to me but I know I am in the minority.

It depends on whom is on your FB and what you consider a scan to be about. I think looking at it and just seeing your innards is quite an unusual perspective

Mumof1andacat · 03/08/2023 20:59

I didn't. That was over 10 years ago now. A few wrote on my fb page to ask how bump was doing so people would have read that.

QuacketyQuack · 03/08/2023 21:03

I didn't, find it very Naf

cruciverbalista · 03/08/2023 21:13

I still haven't at 30 weeks but we'll be doing a professional photoshoot next month and I would like to post some photos from that. Seeing other people's announcements makes me happy but I definitely didn't want to say anything until at least 20 weeks, and now I'm just figuring might as well wait til those photos come back.

SD1978 · 03/08/2023 21:18

Never. People I knew, knew. Random loose acquaintances didn't need to

Topez2 · 03/08/2023 21:20

21 weeks

PurpleChrayne · 03/08/2023 14:34

Never.

So vulgar and attention-seeking.

Or maybe women are just very excited about their wonderful news. 🙄

UndercoverCop · 03/08/2023 21:22

I didn't but I also didn't hide it. I don't really post to social media but I went to a few events when pregnant and was happy to have my photo taken and it was pretty obvious I was pregnant and other people posted them amongst others of the events.

Redpanda21 · 03/08/2023 21:23

I did with mine at 12 week for both babies. I only have a small facebook friends list and I’m set to private.

We have friends who would love to know but we don’t see as they are far away. We told family in person and over the phone before any announcement.

jumperoozles · 03/08/2023 21:26

21 weeks when the 20 week scan was done. Nothing is ever a given but I post pics on instagram fairly frequently and it was obvious after around 20 weeks there was a growing bump.

SquigglePigs · 03/08/2023 21:29

We didn't, but I did announce her arrival.

Eileen101 · 03/08/2023 21:35

At 37 weeks because DH posted a picture of us outside the house we'd completed on. Then 2 days after the arrival of each child.

FirstMondayInMay · 03/08/2023 21:38

I was planning on doing a post after my 20 week scan but I wasn’t able to get a photo so I may just wait until they’re born now

yogasaurus · 03/08/2023 21:38

2 days old

AuntMarch · 03/08/2023 21:41

I didn't post specifically, not sure if i ever posted a frustrated post near the end now (and deleted account since) - I may have done because I was so massive and uncomfortable and it was so hot, I may well have had a whinge. I did announce his arrival though

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/08/2023 21:43

At 6 ish weeks / yes very early I know but had private scan as ivf

As had taken 10yrs Ttc and 5 private ivf to get my one and only ever bfp

So if the worst happened and a mc that friends and family would know why I was inconsolable

Plus I had hg and was very sick /smalls made me retch

Luckily all was fine and mini blondes is now 6 and my world

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/08/2023 21:46

According to replies I'm Very vulgar

Do I give a fuck?

No

Now that's me being vulgar !!!!

mondaytosunday · 03/08/2023 21:57

Never. I told my parents at about six weeks and friends after that. Let the grapevine do it's thing.

faban · 03/08/2023 22:04

Just after my 20 week scan as I did a birthday bump photo and basically just wanted to wait until I could do that 🙈

Feebeedeebee · 03/08/2023 23:25

When she was born. Everyone close to me knew. And i had 3 miscarriages and was terrified something would go wrong right up until I held her in my arms.

SM4713 · 03/08/2023 23:27

Never!

WeightoftheWorld · 03/08/2023 23:30

I didn't either time, not sure why I would? I told people as and when I saw them/family and friends likewise would spread news.

ConnieTucker · 03/08/2023 23:32

First child I was 20 weeks.
second child I was probably around 36 weeks.
