Title says it all really. I know I should just not think about it and let nature take its course but just started TTC and can't help wondering how long it takes people on average to fall pregnant?

I dont want to ever cloud your sunshine, but we started TTC in Jan 2000 (me 31, HD 39)and it took til August 2002 (following a 2 week sun, wine & sex break in Kephalonia, this followed a meeting with a consultant who said there was nothing wrong with either of us). It took 13 months to get pg the 2nd and 3rd time and sadly I mc on both ocassions. HOWEVER, the last mc was Oct 07, I had one period, had sex once in the month and found myself 40 and pg by the beginning of Dec 07!
I wish you all the luck in the world xx

13 months the first time.

this time have been ttc for nearly three years.

You must relax. because although it might not take you that long to fall pg, if it does take more than a few months, letting it get you down won't help.

pleasechange · 27/02/2008 13:09

Hi there - it was 2 months for me but apparently the average is 9-12 months (so I've heard)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/02/2008 13:14

My first pregnancy was unplanned, and this pregnancy happened the first month of trying.

For this pregnancy I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility so I would recognise my ovulation signs. It's a great book and I learnt a lot about me and my body.

Good luck ttc xx

JossStick · 27/02/2008 13:19

First time..........first time iyswim (had just come off pill - apparently this helps).

Second time - 6 months and we felt it was never going to happen. Looking at some threads on here 6 months is nothing really.

BrightShinySun · 27/02/2008 13:28

Thanks for your replies. We've got one dd whos 18mo who was conceived after I mucked up my pills so haven't really done the TTC thing properly before. We feel we are so lucky to have her, she's the best thing that ever happened to us but have both decided we would love another one.

I know I shouldn't worry but theres so many stories about having problems having a second I just wondered what other peoples stories were.

Maybe I should prepare myself for a really long ride!

We succeeded in our first month of trying. DP was all keen to play it natural and not worry about fertile periods and the like, but I do remember we did 'it' a few times over the days that I was considered most fertile that month (by using my usual cycle and online charts etc). So, I think that kinda helped!
Of course I didn't mention that those were my most fertile days, as I didn't want to put him off... haha.
(I'm 15 weeks and 2 days now..)

Relax and try not to worry, you might find you get pg really easily! You just never do know...

My2Weegirls · 27/02/2008 13:36

i've been very, very lucky - it happened first month for both of mine.

MissusH · 27/02/2008 13:36

I took 2 months with my dd and six months with this pg after having mirena coil out.

It took a few months for my cycles to settle then I became aware of fertile signs (cervical mucous, ov pains etc) and dragged dh upstairs to do the need when I thought it was right!!

BrightShinySun · 27/02/2008 13:38

My2Weegirls did you do anything like working out when you ovulate etc or were you just that lucky?!

EllieG · 27/02/2008 13:39

First month for the first PG, which lost, then 2/3 months for the second. 2 really as wasn't properly trying on the first month.

My2Weegirls · 27/02/2008 13:42

i was just incredibly lucky and hadn't thought about when ovulation was happening or any other signs.

BaggyBick · 27/02/2008 16:30

first month for us. decided two days before to start trying & he was concieved within the week. we were really fortunate.

DD - 2 months
Pg2 - one hit wonder but ended in m/c
Now been ttc 18 months since m/c

Katelyn · 27/02/2008 16:49

Took me 4 months when unfortunately I miscarried and then 2 month after miscarrying - everyone is different.

The less you 'try' as such, the more likely it is.....you need to relax, easier said than done i know!!

Good luck!

finallypregnant · 27/02/2008 17:09

nearly 4 years for us!

currantbunmum · 27/02/2008 17:36

3 months for DD1, I was also using predictor, as very irregular.

2 weeks with DD2, sort of decided and it happened that month, very lucky both times.

ThePFJ · 27/02/2008 17:40

Took me about 11 months. By 9 months I had given up taking tests and thinking about it. I don't normally have relations outside the bedroom, but the one day that something happened in the livingroom... was the day our little one was concieved.
My advice is to keep it at the back of your mind and just 'live' life happy. Nestle in with your partner and let your hair down.
The first I knew I was pregnant was the really sore boobs and I was about 4 weeks gone by then.
Good Luck!

NatalieJane · 27/02/2008 17:43

DS1 took 6 months after having been on Depo.

DS2 took 2 months after coming off the pill.

DC3, I'll let you know

chinchi · 27/02/2008 17:45

First month for DS1
Been trying for 2 months now and still no sign of DC2

DonDons · 27/02/2008 17:48

10 months first time - ended in mc, then another 16 months and 5 rounds of clomid but unexplained infertility. Gave up on OPKs after about a year - too much pressure...

sorkycake · 27/02/2008 22:41

8 mo -1st
14days -2nd
10days -third

Emprexia · 27/02/2008 22:47

Took me 12 months after coming off my BCP to get pregnant.

The Dr told me to try for a year, then go get checked out. I had Aunt flo in the november, and was just getting to the point i was going to give up and go to the Drs... decembers AF never arrived... but DS did in the September, lol.

PotPourri · 27/02/2008 22:49

Doctor told me average is 6 months. And there is no room to worry until 1 year trying (6 months if over 35).
