How much sex did you have a month when "trying" to concieve and when in your cycle ?

Just interested if you'd like to share ! Posted on the conception page re dh's unenthusiasm - long working days and a bit stressed....worried we'll never conceive DC2 at this rate....and I'm over 35....

Every day.....tbh have no clue really about my cycle so though it best to cover all angles.....DP was quite happy with this arrangement it has to be said....

oh I can sympathise! We were supposed to start the 'action' tonight for our 1st attempt at ttc DC#3 and DH was'too tired' It is day 10 of my cycle so have a good few days left to get some hopefully!

Have you tried jumpin on him when he's asleep? Apparently some men can do it on utopilot as it were...

I just keep looking at these pregnant women and wondering if they were just at it all the time through their cycles. I never went through all the emotions of this this first time with it happening so quickly - I was pretty shocked (thought it would take forever)..dh thinks it'll happen this time just like the last...mmmmm you don't win the lottery unless you play do you?

I know I ovulate around cycle days 17-19, so every 2 or 3 days from around CD14-CD20. And to taste the rest of the month , but that was the specifically TTC sex.

This is will likely be too much info, but here goes. Around the right time, every night, something or other happened. And I mean every night and morning if you can. Don't use those ovulation sticks, wait for the clear sticky stuff to come out - generally two weeks before your period, but mine varied, so faites attention. And don't shower or bathe during this strategic time of BD-ing when sticky is present, sponge bath only.

Conceived first DC first month trying, DD born at 34. Am expecting DC2 in June, will be 37. Got pregnant with this one after two months of properly properly trying by method we used for DC1. For a couple of months we got derailed by the sticks - when we binned them, we were on track.

First time, I used the sticky stuff method (I know it has a technical name but can't remember what it is) - anyway - I am a 28 day cycle and usually get my ov pain around day 13/14 and egg white around the same time. Got a boy last time and was hoping to maybe do the slightly before sticky stuff bding to try for a girl.....but can't be too fussy if this goes on much longer (and I'd like 3 dc's !!!)

It depends on how long you have been trying for really.

If you suspect there maybe fertility issues, ie not conceiving after 6 months of knowing your cycle well, charting, temping that sort of thing then I would leave a day in between sessions to give his sperm a chance to renew adequate supply.

Try every other day for the month. Sperm will be renewed after 24 hours iirc, so no point in doing it twice a day.

twice a day !!! my god didn't even manage that in the first throes of passion in our early days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, it was only for five days we did this. DH has not been so lucky for the rest of the pregnany or the rest of the time.

I suspect we may have slight male factor issues as all three previous pregnancies (one DS, two miscarriages) were conceived on the first occasion we'd managed to have sex for at least a week and sometimes longer -- never any luck on the bumper sexathon cycles. So this time out I was being careful not to overdo it, hence the only every two or three days.

I think Dh is hoping he was a sure shot this month after his only one attempt !

DS was an only-one-atempt-all-month baby .

They say every 2nd or 3rd day so as not to exhaust DH reserves and not miss the small window of opportunity.

I had a really long cycle. We had sex every other day from about day 10.

Have you heard of the Sperm Meets Egg Plan (SMEP)? That's what we do - although we're not a good advert for its success but my gynae thinks it's a great idea.

Basically you start have sex on alternate days from CD8 (or a little bit later if your cycles are long), and start peeing on OPKs, when you get a positive you have sex daily for the next three days then a day off & then once more (the last one isn't really necessary just in case you ovulate late). Of course if you haven't been ttc for years & aren't sick of sex you add add in as many extras as you like

So for us we do CD8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20.

does the SMEP work then....how long did it take you? I did the OPK last night and I was day 13....does the OPK indicate that you are about to ovulate (I think I once heard that it could tell you that you just had?) ...I feel like a conception "virgin" due to our ds experience !.....
