Just got my bfp yesterday and EDD is early April 2024. Anyone else similar and feel like keeping each other company?

@BVIre I'm only 8 dpo but have some definite nausea and food aversion going on. In my last pregnancy I think I got to about 8 weeks before it hit me. With my first, I was around 5 weeks. It seems that pregnancies can be quite different even in the same person!

HWGina · 02/08/2023 15:28

@LouH93 I've got an early scan booked at 7 weeks. I just want some reassurance that there's something growing in there and to check it's all going okay. Also gives me something to look forwards to cos it's so long before anything else happens!

Emilyjade25 · 02/08/2023 16:07

me!! I got my positive test July 30th!

how far along are you?

Angloitalian83 · 02/08/2023 16:13

Happy but slightly nervous to be here & join you!

Think I'm 4w 4d going by my dates rather than LMP as I ovulate slightly late. Feeling quite apprehensive as previous pregnancy ended in MMC in Dec & chance of miscarriage still relatively high as I am 'of advanced maternal age' & we've been trying for ages. Planning to book private scans around 6 then 8 weeks for reassurance. Line progression looking good so far. No major symptoms other than tiredness & farting like a trucker

This will be a much wanted sibling for our 3yo DS so hoping for the best! Flowers

Yes thank you! Feeling most positive about it! Struggling to work out my due date now & still don’t really believe it’s happening! Think my due date will be round the 10th of April but this is what the test looked like this morning!!

LoobyLoo92 · 02/08/2023 17:51

@BVIre a clear line, looks great! Congratulations 🥰

Mummy2A2020 · 02/08/2023 18:38

Hey all got my BFP Monday at 15dpo! Due date at the moment is 5th April. I had a 12 week premature baby in 2020 so freaking out right now! Came off the pill in January so wasn't trying long

SurreyPsych · 02/08/2023 19:31

Hi everyone,
Congratulations on your news 😁
According to the Flo app, EDD 03/04. Second baby, but my first is 9 years old so I’ve forgotten much about pregnancy, childbirth and the newborn phase.

Olivia199 · 02/08/2023 19:47

Hey! Congratulations to all the new joiners.

BB2023 @Itsasomething - I'm so sorry you're both going through this. I had similar with my DD and I've never been so stressed or anxious. As it turned out, I had an SCH which bled on and off for the first trimester but then settled. Throughout the early scans etc I was reassured that bleeding doesn't always mean the worst and can be more common than you'd think. Wishing you both all the very best.

In terms of early scan, another IVF here so yes. Scan booked in for 24th August when I'll be 7+5!

BVIre · 02/08/2023 20:02

this is my first pregnancy & I’m trying not to get too excited but also feeling really overwhelmed at what to expect! Still haven’t phoned the doctor or anything but just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what to expect of the 1st trimester/pregnancy in general- advice so appreciated ❤️

Olivia199 · 02/08/2023 20:13

@BVIre - It does feel hugely over whelming but I promise it settles down.

So, first trimester you may feel exhausted and get some sickness etc but just remember if you're really struggling to call your GP. You don't have to suffer!! (My first pregnancy I spent vomiting multiple times a day and not keeping anything down - assumed it was just part of pregnancy. Eventually got given antisickness when the GP found out how bad it was and it was a total game changer!)

You'll book with the midwives and have a "booking" appointment with them. It'll be a blood test and you'll also go through everything about your health, babies fathers health, etc and they'll answer any questions you have. My trust do this as two appts. One on the phone to gather all the information and one quick one in person to draw some blood.

Then you'll have an appointment for your 12 week scan sent through to you.

Remember you're entitled to these appointments as time away from work. So don't stress if it comes through and you're working - you just need to have a chat with your boss.

Beyond that you'll have appointments with the midwife at week 16 and they'll measure your belly, check babies heart rate, dip your urine to test it, and just check you're all fine.

Then at 20 weeks you'll have another scan.

After this, midwife checks are exactly the same as the 16 week one but happen more regularly. Are you in the UK?

If so, this will outline all your antenatal care:

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/

During the first trimester, if you're feeling unwell, have any concerns etc then your GP can refer you to the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (known often as EPU or EPAU) if they deem feel, or they can treat you for things such as sickness etc with tablets.

Food wise, this is a good list of foods to avoid when pregnant;

www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/

You can keep going with normal activity for you but may find you're a bit tired! So follow your body's cue and take a nap when you can. I lived for first trimester naps the first time round.

Is there any specific question you have about the first trimester?

Congratulations! Definitely download some pregnancy apps. I love the 'baby centre' app and also 'pregnancy+' app. Baby centre have loads of great articles to read on pregnancy too 💖

faban · 02/08/2023 21:28

Ive finally emailed my midwife to cancel my booking app on the 8th Aug. I'll do another referral in a couple of weeks.

I went ti Holland and Barrett earlier as my IBs is awful in pregnancy and they recommended Aloe Vera tablets. I also got some ginger root tablets which he said was good for digestion but also great for nausea/sickness!

faban · 02/08/2023 21:31

Poppins2016 · 02/08/2023 13:52

@faban I also had a chemical pregnancy last month, so I'm currently feeling positive yet cautious... I'll be very relieved if I see a stronger line on the next test (will try on Friday which will be 10 dpo) as I only ever saw very faint lines last month before they became negative and it ended.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us 🤞🌸

Really sorry you've also been through that. I was the same with my tests, they didn't get darker and didn't go past 1-2 weeks on CB. I've got one frer and one digi and then that's it I'm stopping testing cos I'll drive myself mad!

faban · 02/08/2023 21:31

@Poppins2016 thank you! Yes fingers crossed for sticky little beans ❤️

Angloitalian83 · 02/08/2023 21:49

@BVIre I'd add that the first half of the pregnancy seems to take forever (waiting for scan, can't announce to the world, and generally can feel quite rough if experiencing nausea) and then time speeds up rapidly in the second trimester & then drags again towards 8/9 months when you're big & heavy & uncomfortable. At least with April babies you won't be heavily pregnant in unbearably hot weather. There's a lot to get your head around, but take it one day at a time Flowers

@LouH93 I need to have one via the NHS because of high risk of multiples. It's booked for 18th August which will be roughly 6+6 I think. I'm a bit worried it'll be too early to see much and make me more stressed but the idea of waiting until 12 weeks is not good!

Hi @Apat10 please could I ask why someone might be considered high risk for multiples?
I have a set of twins already, but I haven’t heard anything about needing earlier scans with subsequent pregnancies?!

@MotheringDaughters @Angloitalian83 @Olivia199 sorry if I missed anyone but thank you so much for the advice that’s really settled me now - still waiting for it to feel real🙈

Olivia199 · 03/08/2023 06:19

That's probably my only other bit of advice.. it may not feel real for a while..!!
I was on the operating table holding my baby and it still didn't sink in!

Macccc · 03/08/2023 08:10

Good morning ladies,

I’m also due in April. Somewhere between 8-12th I believe. Different calculators are giving me different dates as I don’t have regular cycles.

This is baby number 2 for me, I have an 18 month old. I had a miscarriage before having her, thought I’d be a little more relaxed this time round but I’m still super anxious. Have had a tiny amount of pink discharge the last couple days, I’m hoping it’s just implantation bleeding.

Symptom wise so far I’ve just been feeling really lightheaded, and probs a bit moody. I had preeclampsia in my previous pregnancy so I’m also quite anxious about that, looking forward to my booking appointment to discuss that and hopefully be started on aspirin.

Sending positive vibes to everyone and fingers crossed the first trimester doesn’t drag too much!

Apat10 · 03/08/2023 09:00

@Buttons659 risk of multiples is due to medication I've been on (letrozole) via fertility clinic although ironically this cycle was actually unmedicated because I was due to catch up with the consultant this week to review the dose. But because I've been under their care they still do an early scan as standard which is quite nice. Glad to hear that I should hear a heartbeat by my scan date! Still can't let myself get carried away yet with the excitement as feels too good to be true!

Has anyone told any friends or family yet? I've only told my best friend who was staying over the day I did the first test. Had to lie to my mum yesterday who was asking how my (cancelled!) fertility appointment was this week!! Going to tell our parents after the early scan if all is ok.

Greenvelvetdress · 03/08/2023 09:09

@Apat10 that's really interesting about the drug you're on, I'd never heard of that before.

I've told a few people, this is my forth pregnancy (3 missed miscarriages) but carefully selected friends that I know will be a good support. I've always been very open about my losses so I don't think I'd not tell people because of that but last time one of my closest friends was so excited and it just felt quite stifling.

I feel like people who've had no miscarriages or fertility problems just don't understand how different it is (through no fault of their own).

Clarajade · 03/08/2023 09:11

Hi everyone! I had my first positive on 23/07 at 13dpo, so 5w 3d currently.

@Macccc i also had pre eclampsia with my 1st, although it was late onset at 40-41 weeks so also feeling a bit anxious. I know they say usually it occurs later in subsequent pregnancies but lots of what ‘usually’ happens was not how it played out for me last time 😂
