@Mushroo ah I didn't realise that, thank you. That's a great cause and reason. Shows how much research I did!
I have a midwife appointment tomorrow so I will ask the question then.

Flowers90 · 08/08/2023 11:57

Just had our 20 week scan. We are having a little boy. Just had to break the news to our 3 year Old daughter who desperately wanted a little sister. She's taken in better than expected!

RG84 · 08/08/2023 12:02

@Flowers90 congratulations on your baby boy and glad all went well.
Same thing, we found out it's a boy and our 3 year old wanted a sister. We are yet to tell her though as we haven't told extended family and she will most likely blurt it out. Glad your little one took it well :)

Mushroo · 08/08/2023 12:54

@Flowers90 congrats! Glad it all went well :)

smldnlove · 08/08/2023 13:23

@Flowers90 Congratulations on your little boy!! We have our scan tomorrow morning and feeling much more positive with everyone’s good news 😊x

@Charlielechat Is it your scan today?! Or tomorrow? I know ours were a few days apart but couldn’t remember!

smldnlove · 08/08/2023 13:26

Also, anyone still not feeling much movement? I was a few weeks ago but seems to have gone quiet last week or so, I’m still constantly checking 😅

Flowers90 · 08/08/2023 13:31

@RG84 our daughter has been rubbing my belly and saying hello sister for weeks. She did it when we came back, we felt it would be wrong to let her continue, and decide to tell her she's having a brother.

FirstMondayInMay · 08/08/2023 13:52

@RG84 how do you go about turning your placenta into tablets? I keep getting ads pop up on Facebook about harvesting stem cells from the cord

Mushroo · 08/08/2023 14:00

@smldnlove me! I occasionally feel something that I think could be her, but nothing definitive at all. It’s not helping my level of worry.

I also didn’t get to hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks so it’s been a longggggg stretch since 12 weeks.

LittleButtercup · 08/08/2023 15:10

I did a bit of research into placenta encapsulation with my first baby, and what concerned me was that the process is not sterile and can carry harmful bacteria/viruses, as it is not a regulated process. If you breastfeed, you can then expose bacteria to your baby. Just something to consider!

smldnlove · 08/08/2023 15:22

@Mushroo yeah same as me! I get a few niggles and bubbles etc but very hard to pin down what it is. When’s your 20 week scan?

Mushroo · 08/08/2023 15:28

@smldnlove on Friday morning so not too long, although the week is dragging! When is yours?

RG84 · 08/08/2023 15:43

@LittleButtercup Thanks for advising, also good to know. Still yet to do some major research but will defiantly take that into consideration.

NoodleQueen90 · 08/08/2023 15:53

@LittleButtercup yes I was just about to chime in and say the same. As far as I can tell, there isn't any scientific evidence of the benefits...essentially just anecdotal evidence. There are however a few confirmed serious risks associated in relation to infection.
It sounds great, and I was really interested until I tried to find a randomised controlled trial that showed the benefits vs risks.

Charlielechat · 08/08/2023 16:08

@smldnlove Yes I had mine this afternoon. All was good thank god! Such a relief, and can't believe that's it over with! Measuring bang on my original due date of 27th so I'm going to go back to that rather than 29th!
Best of luck with yours tomorrow!

Beans1982 · 08/08/2023 17:20

@smldnlove I've not felt much movement yet either (from what I can tell). I've felt a few bubbles/rolling feeling but can't tell if it's baby or gas.
Belly is definetly growing now though, morning sickness seems to have finally gone to be replaced by heartburn and hip pain.
We've not bought any baby items yet but hopefully we can start after Friday's scan and will start looking at prams/travel systems etc.

@Mushroo my 20 week scan is Friday morning as well! I'm on holiday from work this week and battling myself because on the one hand I want Friday to come as soon as possible, and on the other hand I want the week to go as slow as possible so I can make the most of time off work! 😆

@Flowers90 congratulations on your little boy! and @Charlielechat glad your scan went well, wonderful news 😊

Lillybobs86 · 08/08/2023 19:04

@Nclktnntt YES I had this from Saturday afternoon right through to Sunday!
It's like your heart is doing a big beat I spoke to triage about it and they sent me A&E for a monitor.
They captured it on there and called it ectopic heartbeats.
It's common in pregnancy apparently but more so if you've been worrying and feeling anxious about it all x

Did they recommend you do anything? Maybe I should get checked but it seems to have held off today and yesterday.

Lillybobs86 · 08/08/2023 21:35

@Nclktnntt No nothing they just said to keep an eye on it and if I felt faint or chest pains to go to A&E asap.
It lasted Saturday and Sunday and then Monday nothing and not had since.
I think worrying doesn't help try to relax and take it easy x

bookbathnap · 09/08/2023 07:54

Hey everyone. I was curious about why my symptoms have changed (suddenly spotty face again, extreme tiredness) and I googled it and found this interesting graph. I’m at 23 weeks now so just about right where the lines cross. Thought others might find it useful.

Nclktnntt · 09/08/2023 08:53

@Lillybobs86 ahhh ok, thank you.

Nclktnntt · 09/08/2023 09:11

So I've been sitting here, 20 weeks today, feeling little pushes almost , from inside, down near my left hip and the front, wondering is that baby - it's sporadic but around that area, only every so often but fairly close together. Deciding maybe it is, i tel my husband I think I can feel them - but I can't with my hand - he comes over anyway to check for himself.... they stop moving or have gone deeper inside so I can't feel them again 😂

I think I'm actually starting to feel them 😀 maybe.

Undercoverunicorn · 09/08/2023 09:25

@Nclktnntt ahh how exciting! I've been feeling lots of strong kicks now but DH still can't feel them, takes a bit of time for that to happen in my experience

Charlielechat · 09/08/2023 09:49

@Nclktnntt ah it sounds like it 🥰 You'll recognise it more now!
