18 weeks today! I'm not sure if I am feeling flutters of if it's in my mind. I'm meant to be feeling something as it's my second baby. Literally counting down the days until 20 week scan.

bookbathnap · 17/07/2023 12:15

@RG84 congratulations on 18 weeks and your flutters! Scan day for me but not until 3.50pm so looong old day waiting. Hope everyone is feeling well.

RG84 · 17/07/2023 12:50

@bookbathnap aww exciting, I hope your scan goes well later today. So exciting. The pregnancy goes fast but these scan dates are super loooong.

Hope everyone is doing well and have a great week ahead.

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/07/2023 13:22

@bookbathnap good luck with your scan later! I've never had to have an afternoon scan, you must be feeling butterflies all day

wannabemum38 · 17/07/2023 13:31

@RG84
Yeah me too this Friday at 4pm cannot wait

@wannabemum38 good luck to you too, I hope your scan goes well, exciting :)

My scans have also been in the morning and my 20 week scan is at 3pm on the 31st July. Trying to move it to the morning as I have no childcare for the afternoon. Not sure if I ever mentioned by I had the same issue on my 12 week scan and I took a risk and took my toddler with us in the hopes they will allow her but of course they didn't so partner had to sit outside with our daughter. This time around I don't want him to miss out so need to get on the childcare and try and change my time to the morning.

TulipVictory · 17/07/2023 17:15

20 week scan tomorrow at 19+6 weeks 😁😁😁

Mushroo · 17/07/2023 18:55

@TulipVictory good luck with the scan!

Im telling work tomorrow and I’m really nervous! I have a catch up with my manager at 9am so I can get it out of the way….

They only told me my job was permanent 2 weeks ago so the timing is NOT good but they’re doing timetables for next year so need to break the news. Eeeeek

Undercoverunicorn · 17/07/2023 19:16

Good luck tomorrow @TulipVictory

HappyPie82 · 17/07/2023 21:21

Anxiety got the best of me today over my lack of bump and movements and partner told me to book a reassurance scan.

Best £60 I’ve ever spent. Baby was moving so much and had a beautiful heartbeat and it was wonderful….and it’s a baby girl!! I’m over the moon 😍😍

Pitstop1986 · 17/07/2023 21:25

Lovely news @HappyPie82 and Congratulations on your little girl!

Undercoverunicorn · 17/07/2023 21:29

Congrats @HappyPie82

Cowlan · 17/07/2023 22:05

@HappyPie82 congratulations!! 🩷

Charlielechat · 17/07/2023 22:18

Congratulations @HappyPie82 😊 It's crazy how much moving they do inside without us even knowing!

I had my midwife appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat. Little rascal took a while to make an appearance to get it, but all was good!

wannabemum38 · 18/07/2023 00:35

Congratulations @HappyPie82 hope it puts your mind at rest I understand the anxiety for sure.
Had a few more bubbles today and tonight little wriggler

Scan went really well and we are delighted that we are having a baby girl! Everything looked normal and we could see her little hands and feet. Good luck to everyone having scans this week x

Charlielechat · 18/07/2023 08:33

That's lovely @bookbathnap 😊 Congrats!

Hard to believe it's now time for 20 week scans in this thread! Where is the time going!

RG84 · 18/07/2023 11:57

Congratulations to the ladies that have had recent 20 week scans and a bonus on finding out the gender :)

Even more exciting when you know the gender so it's easier to shop! I'm still unsure if I want to know or not....

Nclktnntt · 18/07/2023 14:10

We've also chose not to find out but Youre right, We wanted to buy something nice yesterday (our first little persons thing we'd buy and my husband wants to be there too) and it's so hard to get gender neutral now. I think because so many find out, obv the companies cater more for boys & girls over neutral colours. There was a small section but nothing we liked as the first thing we've brought for baby. So we're going to try again in another town.

We need to get the chest of drawers soon though so when we start buying bits, we have somewhere to put them (currently renovating our house and live in one room with everywhere else being bare brick 🙈)

wannabemum38 · 18/07/2023 14:59

@Nclktnntt I have found that too. Quite annoying especially this day and age that everything is so stereotypical pink and blue. And boys stuff has cool prints and girls stuff is princess. The neural colours are boring. I've had this problem for years with my tomboy niece getting her clothes was a nightmare. You would think designers for kids were a bit more open minded and moved on with the times by now.

Best of luck with scans! I’ve still a few weeks to wait until mine. I do have my second midwife appointment this week although not as exciting.

FirstMondayInMay · 18/07/2023 15:25

There were some lovely neutral bits in Tesco a few weeks back and the baby grows had zips on, bonus!

GingerJanee · 18/07/2023 15:30

Hi all! I bounce in an out of this chat and somehow my email notifications have stopped, so lovely reading about everyone’s scans and genders being revealed.

I’ve my 20 week scan Monday at 19+4 and I’m looking forward to it so much, have tricked my brain into thinking I’m feeling movements at the minute but I think it’s all in my head - hoping to get the reassurance Monday and baby will move in their own time!

Clucket87 · 18/07/2023 15:32

I'm with you @ThomasinaLivesHere. I've got my 16 week appointment at 15+6 and no date for my 20 week scan yet.
It's weird, I have to explain to everybody that I'm due 5th Jan but will be induced on 22nd December (hence why I'm staying in this group)
We won't be finding out. We didn't with our son and I personally loved that I didn't dream about what they would do when they got bigger or what job they would get etc that I know some of my friends did when they new.
I had some lovely neutral stuff before from M&S, John Lewis and Next. Matalan can be good and Asda is fab. Believe me don't get anything too expensive. They will grow out of it before you know and when they get bigger everything gets filthy!
One thing we did get is a super beautiful baby blanket. It was the same one Princess Charlotte came out of hospital in. When my mum was dying she gave some money to my aunt and asked her to get a shawl for all her grandchildren and great nieces/ nephews to come home in. It is probably my most important baby item.
This baby won't have many new things but I am going to get a Miami Dolphins baby set. My husband got one for our first, but for my team (San Francisco 49ers which baby came out of hospital in lol).
I am being really good and not buying much at this point. I try not to get anything until 20+ weeks as I don't want to jinx's anything.
Currently getting my son's new bedroom sorted. I have family coming round on Sunday to help paint because
my aunt has banned me doing it lol. Not that he is moving into it any time soon. I need the bed for people staying over when I'm in hospital lol. Xx

Nclktnntt · 18/07/2023 16:54

We're wanting to hold out till after our 20 week scan. But we wanted to get just one thing to celebrate for now (17weeks tomorrow and second midwife appointment)

Im also unsure on what to actually buy anyone else feeling lost with this part of things? Like clothes wise to prepare for their birth - I don't think we'll need any tiny newborn bits but should I get some? Definitely think we'll need some 'bigger' new born bits but how much, they grow so quickly?, then it's all onto 1-3 months which seem massive for a new born. My reasoning for not thinking I'll need many new born clothes esp tiny newborns is both me and my husband are tall-ish (5"8 & 5"10) and so are our families (many of which are over 6") I don't think any baby in either family has been under 8lbs I'm one of the last in my family to have kids, so is my husband, so albeit terrified, I'm expecting a bigger baby.

What are you guys planning on buying clothes wise? I don't want too much but also don't want not enough 🙈
