Hi guys, can I join please? I am 4 weeks 1 day, and would be due 8th march. I'm 34 and this was our 5th cycle trying. It's our first baby 😍i've actually been really ill this last week with an unrelated cough and cold! I've got sore boobs and cramping but no other symptoms yet! Picture is 14DPO evening test!

@PR96 the hospital I’ve chosen (I had a choice of 3 as I live in London so I’ve got a few close) has a section called “in the community” and one of them is at my GP surgery so hoping my appointments will be there :)

Hopefulhoney6 · 01/07/2023 05:22

@PamelaShipman80 I feel like now if you don’t pay for Flo, there is limited info!!

W88 · 01/07/2023 07:25

Bloating is so bad, I agree not sure how I am going to be able to hide it for the next 8 weeks!

PamelaShipman80 · 01/07/2023 08:28

@GoingToInfinity @KatY9876 thank you for the Ovia recommendation! Downloaded it last night, much better than the two I had!! @Prudence00 @L0uise35 I will look at these ones too thanks!!

the bloating definitely sounds normal then!! I work from home so don’t need to hide it too much thankfully!

PR96 · 01/07/2023 08:52

I think I'm addicted to peeing on tests lol.. I waited till today to do my first frer and got a really good line straight away which has made me feel a bit better, I was up loads in the night to go to the loo too so it wasn't even fmu.

My boobs appear to be less sore in the morning and then a bit sore throughout the day.. trying to not look in to symptoms as it stresses me out (as you all already know!) Have a dodgy tummy today though sorry for tmi!

When is everyone telling work? I am currently 3 months in to my 6 month probabtion period at my new job and don't want them to know too soon!

glasspaw · 01/07/2023 09:11

@PR96 It’s so satisfying seeing a nice strong line isn’t it?

I’m also struggling with when to tell work. We have recently restructured and there’s been a an unofficial indication that I’m in line for a promotion (which comes with a decent % rise which will obviously make maternity leave more affordable). The company has recently treated a few senior people going on / returning from maternity leave a bit questionably though so I’m really hoping to delay telling people until I’ve got some written confirmation of it though.

in my last pregnancy I told work very early because I was confident in my line manager treating me fairly (and he did), so I think the decision is so variable depending on how long you’ve been there, how supportive you think your managers will be etc.

I hate that in 2023 this stuff is still an issue :(

KatY9876 · 01/07/2023 09:29

@glasspaw @PR96

It's difficult to decide when to tell work, last time I told work at around 8 weeks, everyone was starting to suspect. They knew we were trying and I am a nurse so unfortunately I was trying to avoid high risk situations. I then had a missed miscarriage, everyone was really supportive.

I am charge nurse at the moment covering maternity leave, this finishes end of August but there might be a chance of a permanent post so I don't want to say too early. Although I think my manager would be supportive, she knows I am trying again.

Although part of me thinks it would be better to go back down to band 5 for my pregnancy as less stress. Difference in pay only 7p a hour so not going to make much difference to my maternity pay.

I am so bloated too and I feel I already I'm showing, 5w 1d. I'm sure someone will notice and I won't be able to lie.

I will do another digital tomorrow to hopefully get my 3w+.

PR96 · 01/07/2023 09:35

@glasspaw and @KatY9876 in my last pregnancy I was furloughed for most of it and it was only when they were messaging about if I was okay to come back I told them I was pregnant, literally days before my first scan.

I have a week of towards the end of August so I'm really hoping my first scan will fall in that week so I don't meed to come up woth a reason to be off work!

GoingToInfinity · 01/07/2023 10:49

Okay, I am beyond delighted with this. AF due today, didn't use FMU as I was too excited to try the digital so was surprised with the 2-3 weeks result. Now I'm worrying it might be twins 😂

When are people planning on telling family/friends?

I think I'll tell my mum today as she was a rock for me last month when I had my chemical pregnancy and I think I'd want her to know in case anything goes wrong again.

BraveHeart91 · 01/07/2023 11:09

@GoingToInfinity congratulations 🎉 what makes you think it’s twins?

I’ve told my close family as I can’t keep secrets 😬😂

Steamedhams · 01/07/2023 11:53

@PR96 Last time I waited until about 20 weeks to tell "work" as I'm a foster carer and I don't see the social workers every day. This time I don't think I will make it that far! We will try to wait for the 12w mark for family and friends and let my social worker know shortly after.

GoingToInfinity · 01/07/2023 11:55

@BraveHeart91 just the fact that the clear blue is further than I expected at this point. No twins in our family apart from non-identicals on my husband side.

Skyharbor · 01/07/2023 12:48

Congratulations everyone! I'm tentatively joining...

This will hopefully be my second baby but fifth pregnancy. I had two natural miscarriages before having my 2 year old, then a missed miscarriage in March this year. So I'm very, very nervous!

I have long cycles but have been tracking and am due 8th March. Very strong positives on regular tests and a digital reading 2-3 weeks this morning so hoping this one sticks.

Prudence00 · 01/07/2023 12:51

@PR96 I will be looking to tell work as late as possible. I’ve been at the company nearly 4 years but got a new boss about 18 months ago who has said to me she’s going to “stop hiring fertile females”. She’s in her 50s with no children and has terrible people skills.

I never planned to have children as I’m not maternal and I have a very successful career as part of the exec team which has always been my focus so I think this is going to surprise a lot of people, including work and my friends and family. I still want to progress my career and I think this year will be my most successful performance-wise so I don’t want that to be affected or overshadowed. It’s so sad that we have to feel this way and that even other women can’t support us in the workplace. If I can get to 20 weeks before I tell them then I absolutely will leave it that long.

BraveHeart91 · 01/07/2023 13:04

@PR96 i think I’m addicted to testing too I test yesterday evening 😂 my partner says “we testing again or another one really” 😂😂 but it helps my anxiety I can’t tell you how much we’ve spent on the test I’d be a millionaire 🤦🏻‍♀️. But the line was dark straight away before it even went into the control line.

BraveHeart91 · 01/07/2023 13:57

Anyone else suffering from sharp pains I’m getting them on left side idk why but I have it in my head it’s eptopic pregnancy. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve never had one before so idk why I’m thinking this.

LouisajaneR · 01/07/2023 15:35

i found these test strips to be useless, I’d get a more expensive one and if you are then sure try the digital ones.

summertimes2021 · 01/07/2023 15:41

I use the easy at home to ease my anxiety. Didn't get really dark till this morning at 17dpo. But I have done 2 frer saving my clear blue digi for when we're away as should say 3+ weeks.

Is a Facebook group being set up? I did see someone mention it. In my previous pregnancies they have been really good
