@FortheBeautyoftheEarth Congratulations. Enjoy the superpower! Hormones do so much that it wouldn't surprise me.

ScottishStardust · 14/07/2023 17:33

@blodyn91 thank you! Our first is also 2 years old, he'll be a month shy of 3 when this one is due. Hopefully a good age gap - can't do much about it now haha!

@Lemon1111 aww glad everything went well. We previously had an ectopic as well - I'd love to know which side I ovulated from each time after. How far along are you? Sure everything will be fine in 2 weeks, but good to know baby is where they should be.

PamelaShipman80 · 14/07/2023 17:55

Anyone suffering with morning sickness?! Had an awful 5 days or so with it but spoke with the gp who has prescribed some anti sickness tablets, fingers crossed they work!!

Lemon1111 · 14/07/2023 20:10

@ScottishStardust according to the app flo I’m 6+1. I just spent the last two hours researching and it’s just made me more anxious. Sorry to hear you also had an ectopic, have you had an early scan? Xx

Steamedhams · 14/07/2023 20:13

Is anyone else's appetite all over the shop? I'm ravenous one minute and nauseous the next.

blodyn91 · 14/07/2023 20:36

@Steamedhams yepp!! Im now in bed feeling hungry and sick, but ate so much all day 🙈

@ScottishStardust oh same age gap as mine, had my boy April 13th 2021, this one will be due around 19th of March. Better be a good age gap! Great to be off for maternity over spring and summer again 😎

RosieS22 · 14/07/2023 21:01

Ugh... thought I was being thrifty by saving all my maternity stuff from my first pregnancy. Got it down out the loft and there is and handful of stuff that is just ok at 6 weeks pregnant! Some doesn't fit which I wore heavily pregnant. I gave up trying stuff halfway through the box.
I hope this baby is a girl so I can at least reuse the clothes from DD1!! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
Why does no one talk about how expensive being pregnant is with all the stuff you have to buy?? 🤯

ScottishStardust · 15/07/2023 08:49

@Lemon1111 My hospital would only do an early scan if we had symptoms. Luckily we're in the position where we can afford to pay for a private scan to check. It's still early at 6w1d and that's also by LMP so try not to worry or google!

@blodyn91, oh our little one is 30th April and this one's due date is currently showing 19th March. At least we can ride it out together. Yeah that's what I thought, and heavily pregnant over cold winter - not sure if I'd cope in hot weather.

@RosieS22 - I didn't keep much from our first, I didn't have much as it was during the second lockdown so I lived in the same stuff and wore it out. Already thinking how much I'll need to spend this time round as I work in the office as well.

LeopardLover · 15/07/2023 09:23

@ScottishStardust @blodyn91 Same timings as me with a 2 year old April babe (read: dictator 😅) 💖

@RosieS22 Oh gosh, I bet it's the same for me! I was pretty slender before #1 haha. I have already started scouring Vinted, I begrudge spending lots on Maternity clothes (but I like the expensive brands 😅)!

LeopardLover · 15/07/2023 09:26

@Steamedhams Absolutely. I'm also struggling with eating clean. I was so determined then I feel sick and I'll eat whatever I can 😅😩 I've eaten so much fruit! I can see myself entering the beige stage already. ALSO promised myself I wouldn't touch coca cola this time (helped me through my nauseous weeks last time) but the craving is real. Going to do my best to avoid it (it's obvs not in the house).

dindot · 15/07/2023 11:49

I've also got a 2 year old who will be almost 3 when this little one arrives.

Woken up this morning with a strong metallic taste, think I saw someone else had this too?

ScottishStardust · 15/07/2023 13:11

@LeopardLover aww looks like the almost 3 year old age gap is the trend!

I'm trying to cut back on the fizzy juice but I know I'll still drink it - last time I did move to caffeine free in the early stages but we've just been to Costco and bought a large crate 😂 oh well oops

Busylizzie85 · 15/07/2023 14:31

Yes @dindot I had that the other day but it was short lived and then disappeared the same day!

Any one else started with the insomnia? I wake up at about 2am and then 4am and I am then awake for the day 😴

Prudence00 · 15/07/2023 15:11

@Busylizzie85 yes me! It was just before 5am for me. We have my partner’s kids this weekend so that hasn’t helped. I’ve tried napping but they’ve woken me up every time I’ve nearly managed to nod off 😫

RosieS22 · 15/07/2023 16:00

@LeopardLover haha same!! I've already ordered a few bits in the sale from Seraphine and H&M. Never thought of Vinted so will take a look on there! Thanks for the tip!

Geowave · 15/07/2023 16:11

I will be due 18th March!!
i have struggled with secondary fertility and so I have had my beta taken at 17 Dpo and my levels were 1906

LeopardLover · 15/07/2023 16:32

@ScottishStardust The best gap 😉 Gosh, I like Decaf tea but draw the line at Decaf fizzy 😂 #YOLO. Last time my MIL told me off which made me want to drink it more. I wasn't even having that much 😂

@RosieS22 I might check out the Seraphine sale, just out of curiousity 😉

LeopardLover · 15/07/2023 16:33

@BraveHeart91 how are you getting on? X

RosieS22 · 15/07/2023 17:15

@LeopardLover it'd be rude not to! 😂 There were a few bits that were really reasonably priced tbf!

Kay00 · 15/07/2023 17:31

@RosieS22 @LeopardLover this is my first, and I'm completely clueless as to what I'll need to buy to get me through a pregnancy... What are the essentials? And what were your luxury purchases last time that you would recommend/get again?

RosieS22 · 15/07/2023 17:49

@Kay00 unless you have any special occasions to attend I don't think you need any luxury purchases for maternity wear really. Most things you can just buy regular clothes (sometimes cheaper than maternity) and size up a couple of sizes. If you wear jeans you will need maternity ones. Maybe in a couple of sizes - usual size at the beginning and one-two sizes up near the end. The legs are often fairly normal with just an elasticated waist. Get ready for lots of online shopping and returns! 🙃🤦🏼‍♀️
As it'll be winter (same as with my first), I tended to wear dresses and maternity tights. I needed to get wide fit shoes/boots at the end as couldn't get my normal ones on!! If it's snowing/wet, sandals will be a no-go!
Big pants for the end/afterwards.
Don't invest in lots of expensive nursing bras until nearer the end when you have a better idea on your 'new' size. They will increase again when your milk comes in - if you plan to BF that is.
Will try to think of anything else that comes to mind. I would say buy a few basics/little and often as things that will fit at the start, may not fit at the end.

blodyn91 · 15/07/2023 18:04

My sister gave me a bag of maternity clothes last time, but didn't wear them as same as others- pregnant during lockdown, so lived in 2x fabletics maternity legging and big jumpers. I even wore a male cycling leggins for a bit as well 😅😅 they were fleece lined and we did a lot of hiking in the snow that winter.

The one essential thing for me was a bump belt, I started having tail bone pain at 20 weeks so had to stop running, so started hiking more, but as bump grew the belt was a life saviour!

Also bought an ergobaby carrier during the black Friday sales, so good to have a list of things you want for baby and get them then/ January sales.

Kay00 · 15/07/2023 18:18

Thank you @RosieS22 @blodyn91 this is very useful info!

I have been looking at bump belts already, because my back has been terrible since I tested positive 😖 but... I don't have a bump yet 😂 so I'll need to wait until I get that extra support.

RosieS22 · 15/07/2023 18:28

@blodyn91 @Kay00 good shout on the Black Friday/Jan sales! There will be lots of deals on 'big items' like car seats, travel systems, nursery furniture etc. so definitely make the most of them and have a list ready!

Kay00 · 15/07/2023 18:30

Yes, this is such a good idea!
