@Khanga27 I vote telling your mum. I'm going to do the same 😊 last time I waited until 14 weeks before we told any family and 20 weeks until we told friends. It was quite a lonely first trimester! I'm going to start with my mum this time, I wanted to wait but also feeling unusually anxious (probably because I keep hearing bad news close to home) and I'm sure it'll help. X

If you feel comfortable (and your partner is happy) then maybe telling by your mum might help :)

I’ve been listening to hypnobirthing by Anja on YouTube and she has some lovely positive first trimester affirmations which I’ve found helpful

it’s my first pregnancy and I totally get the huge anxiety - I am a massive over-googler too for every twinge. I’m just taking it day by day and being thankful for still being pregnant

are you having an early scan at all?

Thanks, I'll have a look at YouTube.

I have an early scan booked for when I think I will be 8+2 weeks. Felt waiting for the 12 week scan just felt too long. I'm hoping that will put my mind at rest. Are you?

Hey @Khanga27 I have a scan scheduled for the 24th with EPU , I'll be 7w+4. I'm the same it feels too early but I think I will need to tell work soon but going to wait till after the scan

I hope your scan goes well. Yeah depending on sickness etc I MAY tell my manager a little earlier than planned. We will see.

@Khanga27 I tell my mum everything but strangely wasn’t ready to tell her when I was pregnant last year. But I told two close friends who had had babies and it was useful to be able to text them etc. when I feeling anxious.

Sadly I had a MMC found at a scan at 7 weeks and then I told everyone (but only 3 colleagues)! I’m very open about it now because I think it’s something worth talking about.

this time, again I haven’t told family but I’ve told a few friends (either when I’m not drinking or because I need their support).

My anxiety is even worse this time around, again I have no symptoms and I’m thinking the worst. but having a scan on Monday.

I'm really sorry about your MMC, and wish you all the best for your scan on Monday. I'm the same, I tell my mum everything normally so feels really weird not mentioning it to her.

I am having an early scan at 6+6 as mine is an IUI baby (same sex relationship) so it’s included in the package but I don’t think I could wait until 12 weeks either way!

Hope that the anxiety eases (as best it can) and the YouTube videos help - pick the shorter ones tho as some of them can go on!

Nmvasey85 · 13/07/2023 15:13

I'm in the same boat @Khanga27 I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks at Easter and I'd told family and a few select friends. This time I've told 3 friends, mainly as you say they'll guess anyway if I'm not drinking. Feels strange not telling parents first but I don't want them to worry about me and I also don't want to raise their hopes. If anything were to go wrong, I'd tell them as I'd need their support I just feel like I need a little longer. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, just whatever you feel comfortable with

Kay00 · 13/07/2023 16:10

I haven't told anyone yet, other than my OH and my physiotherapist lol. I want to tell people after my scan on Tuesday (I'll be 7+2), if everything looks good I'll tell my mum and sis. And then shortly after my MIL and SILs.

Ap24 · 13/07/2023 16:10

So my work have told me not to come in until I stop being sick. I haven't told them the reason behind the sickness but my boss has said it doesn't matter why. I work in a kitchen. I'm a bit concerned about how long the morning sickness will last and when I'll have to inform them. I was hoping to hold out until I got the NIPT results but this seems unlikely now.

LeopardLover · 13/07/2023 16:15

@Ap24 Oh sorry you're being sick! 😔 I don't have much experience with this, of course it normally resolves itself by the second trimester but that's a long ole wait! 🤔 I wonder if anyone has experience of only being sick early on? I imagine HCG continues to rise so not sure x

L0uise35 · 13/07/2023 16:44

TMI and possible trigger
So I thought I had a cut or something in the nether regions as it was bit stingy. So just went to the loo and when I wiped there was blood, don't know if it's coming from.yhe cut or of there's something wrong. I'm 6 weeks and freaking out

KatY9876 · 13/07/2023 16:49

@L0uise35 do you have any pain, cramps, how much blood. If not much probably nothing to worry about. X

Nmvasey85 · 13/07/2023 16:52

@L0uise35 the stinging would suggest it was something external to the pregnancy 🙏

L0uise35 · 13/07/2023 17:05

@KatY9876 no cramps. Not much blood. Just when I wiped, just shocked me really.

Not sure what to do

HKS90 · 13/07/2023 17:15

Hi @Khanga27 congratulations! It’s my first too and I’ll be 7 weeks tomorrow, it’s hard not knowing what’s normal isn’t it? I think we are going to have to tell people early than we would have liked because in the last few days I’ve started being sick loads and it’s impossible to hide which I’m quite anxious about. I don’t really want to get family excited until we are sure everything is ok.

blodyn91 · 14/07/2023 07:50

Did a 14 hour shift on the farm yesterday, burned 3700 calories, i was shattered, but somehow keeping busy meant no sickness!! 👌
I have to weigh 300kg cows with work, so need to tell boss really, as farmers will need to ensure my safety. Plus any disease outbreak and Im not getting out the car 😅
My brother is 30 this month, and my sister is booking a rib ride, just looked and its advised not to go during pregnancy 😬 im going to have to tell her today! But then I also want to tell mam & dad, but my husband isn't here (currently staying 2 nights at my parents to help on the farm) 🙈 what to doooo???
Thinking having him on face time? or I just tell sister and make my parents wait

Ive had strong cramps/stitch like feelings, sharp pains- but also with my 1st, especially with sudden movement. Can't remember who was asking sorry to tag, but I like to think of them as a good thing. Stay optimistic 🧖🏼‍♀️

Sorry for those who have experienced MMC in the past 🩷

Also re work, I am acctually waiting to hear back from an interview for a new job. Current one is just statutory, 6 weeks 90%, so really crap!!

LeopardLover · 14/07/2023 08:02

@blodyn91 Omg, you must be so fit 🤣 I definitely think you should tell work! I had to Google Rib Ride, I get the vibe you're so hard core it would probably be fine but best to avoid 😅 Hmmmm, you could tell your sister and just make your parents wait it you really want your husband there? But face time is a good option too.

Fingers crossed re new job - also have the same rubbish stat pay! X

LeopardLover · 14/07/2023 08:05

@L0uise35 Have you had any more blood? I'd be tempted to get a mirror and l search for any cuts! Is there a chance it could coming from your other hole? Speaking from experience!

Hopefulhoney6 · 14/07/2023 10:32

@L0uise35 sometimes I get that and it’s just a cut from wiping too hard, or straining to go to the loo. It will probably be fine!!

@blodyn91 I would probably just call my sister and tell her and say keep it secret as you want to do a family announcement with your husband?

The anxiety over having no symptoms and having to wait three more days for my scan is killing me!! As I had no symptoms with my miscarriage I just feel like it’s going to be the worst again 😭 I’m 6+5 and I know some people have no symptoms at this date but it’s just the thought of having to deal with another loss.

KatY9876 · 14/07/2023 10:39

@Hopefulhoney6 absolutely get the anxiety after a loss, I am the same. I had a early NHS scan today at 7 weeks and all is fine, seen heartbeat and it was the best was such a relief. I'm sure you will also be ok too. X

KatY9876 · 14/07/2023 10:39

@Hopefulhoney6 I also have very few mild symptoms. X

Hopefulhoney6 · 14/07/2023 10:42

Thank you @KatY9876 ! That’s great news you had the early scan today and all ok ❤️

I’ll let you know how I get on xx

ScottishStardust · 14/07/2023 13:17

Hello! Hoping it's ok to join in, we've just got our positive result this morning - due around 19th March but cycles have been a bit all over the place.
Hope everyone's feeling ok! This is our 2nd, feel totally fine so far!

Lemon1111 · 14/07/2023 14:33

I Had the scan this morning and the pregnancy is in the right place whoop whoop! it also looks like I ovulated from the side that my ectopic was last time, we didn’t see the fetal pole or heartbeat so a second scan has been booked for just under two weeks time, I’m trying not to worry xx

blodyn91 · 14/07/2023 16:48

@KatY9876 @Lemon1111 oh thats lovely that you have both had positive & reassuring scans!!

@ScottishStardust welcome! How old is your 1st? I have a 2 year old 🤗

@LeopardLover I didn't know what a rib ride was either 😅😅 I bailed on telling my sister, just hadn't planned it and didn't see her on her own 🙈🙈

FortheBeautyoftheEarth · 14/07/2023 16:59

I'm 5 w with my first today. I feel so incredibly calm. Is this a thing? I deal with stressful things in my job (adult safegaurding type stuff) and I've had some really tricky things to deal with today. Normally I would get this surge of adrenaline and although I do know the urgency, I just feel so weirdly calm.

Does anyone know if this is a known effect of early pregnancy? I'm guessing it comes back to the hormones?
