Is it Twins?

Hey all!

Lets start this by saying that I am a twin myself :)

I'm 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my first at 30 years young.

I got my first BFP 4 days ago a day before my AF was due and it was a very clear and distinct line and a digital reading clearly saying BFP! :D

I'm now on day 3 of no AF and lots of progressively darkening thick lines on my BFPs and my symptoms are giving me hell! I've felt nauseous for over a week, my breasts are sore and agony to touch, I'm sleeping for 14 hours of the day and I can't tolerate the smell of cooking at all!

I know the only way to know for sure is at my first antenatal scan but I was wondering if anyone could share similar experiences? Is this twins? :O

I got morning sickness from 7 weeks on with my twins, no other symptoms apart from bleeding on and off. My boobs weren't sore, i wasn't particularly tired either. But I did have strong lines very quickly and a positive digital test straight awat

That all sounds like normal pregnancy. I’m pregnant and I got my bfp at 9dpo, felt sick from before 4 weeks and in the first trimester was so tired all the time. Same for my first pregnancy too. Neither were twins. You have a higher chance as you’re a twin yourself so it might be twins, but I don’t think you can tell from those symptoms.

Agree with @Overthebow - I had sky high hcg blood tests and it wasn't twins. Far too early to say I'm afraid

I did wonder if i was having twins this time as I tested a strong positive 6 days before missed period, went straight to 2 to 3 on a digital, was showing and feeling sick at 5 weeks and over 35. Husband also a twin but there is only one in there.

There are a few threads on similar topics and it seems to lots of twin mums the twins didn't give massively different symptoms xx

My twins are 16 now, but I remember feeling strongly that it was more than one, early on. So much so that when that first scan revealed two, and I told friends, they were like 'you knew!' (there were no twins in the family so my 'twin feeling' was taken with a pinch of salt). I was defo showing more, but put that down to stretched ab muscles after 1st pregnancy.

Could be your spidey sense... or maybe just daydreaming... let us know after your scan!

Hey all!

I took a Clearblue test 1 week ago and it said 1-2 weeks (spot on)

One week later it says 3+ weeks

Seems a bit weird to me?

I have twins and had zero morning sickness or sore boobs or any of those things. I did feel tired but it was lockdown and running around after a 3 year old.

I didn't get 3+ on a digital until 21DPO/5 weeks so it does sound like your hcg is rising quickly?

Are you an identical or non identical twins. Only non identical twins can be inherited....

I have twins and had zero morning sickness!! I found out at a 10 week scan (couldn’t wait for 12 weeks so paid for an early scan!)

@febrezeme hey! I'm non identical.

I've had a blood test and should get the results today, they said if my hcg was high I'd get a scan despite only being 5 weeks on the dot.

Wonder what's going to happen! I'm also too impatient to wait xD

There’s a number of reasons your hcg could be high, twins being one of them but not the only reason. Hope you get some answers today.

My friend knew she was having twins immediately. No twins in the family, second pregnancy.

The sonography said she'd never seen anyone less shocked 😁

I had similar. I was nauseous before my period was even due. I got a positive test before it was due too. It was a single pregnancy but I did have hyperemesis.

HCG levels and symptoms don't mean anything either way. I was pregnant with twins and didn't even know i was pregnant and had no symptoms til i was nearly 7 weeks. My best friend had a singleton pregnancy and was nauseas from about 9dpo. it means nothing.

Obv if you are a non identical twin your risks are higher. identical no higher risk than average

Hey, my twins are 8 now, non identical, I didn’t get a positive till i was a week late and it was very faint, no symptoms, found out at early scan 9 weeks, I genuinely thought i had had another mmc before going into the scan as i didn’t feel pregnant at all lol i nearly threw up when i saw the screen 😂 x

Hey!

Had my ultrasound yesterday and its not twins xD did have a healthy ys and its in the right place which was lovely to see. I've had some light brown spotting and mild cramping so doctors just wanted to check everything was okay!

My HCG levels were 2078, which is bang on normal for 4 weeks 6 days (at the time, I'm now 5 weeks 1 day)

I had a scan at 5 weeks which showed no baby but a healthy ys, just the one

Had another today at 7 weeks and it showed again one ys, but two little babies!

Both have heartbeats and are exactly the right size! They're just waiting on my 12 week scan now to see if theres one or two placentas

I've attached a picture so you can see :)

@gemmylou92 How are you getting on? Does one yolk sac mean identical twins as that’s one egg that split??? Identical twins are so rare even if you are a twin (identical or non identical) yourself!

I’m a non identical twin like yourself and have a scan at 7+5 scheduled for next week and shitting incase it is twins!! I haven’t had bad symptoms or anything just know the chances are higher of me having them so I am very scared as I only want one baby at the moment🙈least I know they should pick it up next week for sure since yours was picked up at 7! good luck to you all the best x

Yes they're identical! I had a scan at 5 weeks which showed one sac, then another at 7 which showed one sac two babies!

Just also attached my 8 weeks one where you can see them both swimming around in there 🤭 they both have heartbeats, they're confirmed MCDA or mono/di twins so 100% identical!

I've had to have many early scans because I had some blood clots, this scared the life out of me, but the sonographer found the source of the bleed and it's where my uterus is expanding so fast its rupturing blood vessels a bit a nothing to be worried about

Let me know if like me, you're a twin expecting twins!
