When did your morning sickness stop?

I’m 7 weeks pregnant and the last five days I’ve been so sick. I’ve only been sick twice but I constantly feel like I’m going to throw up. How long did this go on for others? A quick google says morning sickness should go away by 16 weeks!! But I’m not sure I can make it that long!

Week 14 for me. I then got about 5 weeks of normality before the acid reflux hit 👍

nettytree · 28/05/2023 08:50

Sorry, but mine didn't end til I had the baby.

Pitstop1986 · 28/05/2023 08:56

First pregnancy 13 weeks.

I'm currently 12+3 and haven't been sick for 4 days, although I'm still nauseous. I'm hoping that this is the start of the end and my nausea will subside over the next week or so 🤞

jammydodgies · 28/05/2023 09:00

Hi OP, mine was about 16 weeks in affraid and I know how bad it is at 7 weeks it's horrendous but it does slowly get better and you deal with it better.
I found lemonade and something dry like crisps, or those go ahead bars helped, also sucking sherbet lemons or any kind of boiled sweet helped.
It will pass z

Overthebow · 28/05/2023 09:03

first pregnancy about 12 weeks. I’m pregnant now and it’s similar, coming up to 12 weeks and nausea has definitely reduced.

DrHousecuredme · 28/05/2023 09:05

It became manageable by about 10 weeks in that I learnt how to prevent or ease it. It never completely disappeared though...sorry!

SmokeMeAKipper79 · 28/05/2023 09:05

8 months, total nightmare. I lost so much weight you could see the bones of my spine. BUT that is fairly unusual.

Morning sickness is horrible OP. Get plenty of rest, eat dry ginger biscuits and fresh strawberries are also good. Sip sparkling water with lemon. Hope it passes soon!

OnlyYellowRoses · 28/05/2023 09:06

I had HG all the way through with 3 of mine, the other pregnancy I lasted around 4 months. Only thing that worked for me was sucking 'sharp' flavour ice pops (lime/lemon etc) and medication!

Stellawella · 28/05/2023 09:09

Sadly, it was 24 weeks for me. It was literally overnight and I remember it well because I woke on the Sunday ravenous. I got DH to take me for Sunday lunch where I had 3 courses and I can still remember just about every bite.

Londontomadrid · 28/05/2023 09:12

First ended like a switch went off at 12 weeks. This time I'm only a few weeks and had it on and off since week 6 but I've been using nausea wrist bands this time which have been helping! Not sure whether it's placebo but can get through work now without feeling so nauseas so maybe worth a try. Also drinking sprite seems to help also. It helped a lot with my first.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 28/05/2023 09:13

I was similar to you - rarely sick but felt like I was going to be. For me it stopped when I gave birth.

I know loads who say it stopped at different times from 6 weeks onwards.

All the people on here can only say what happened to them, which doesn't mean it will be the same for you.

Nibble little and often (I still enjoy planning crackers!).

Pitstop1986 · 28/05/2023 09:13

Not sprite as prev poster said, but a can of coke really helps the nausea for me

kikisparks · 28/05/2023 09:16

About 20 weeks it started to improve and very quickly got better from there, I remember desperately waiting for 12 weeks, then it wasn’t any better clinging onto hope that it would be by 16 weeks. You will make it, but it was a big struggle, and one of (various) reasons I’m one and done and don’t plan to ever go through it again!

ES1986 · 28/05/2023 09:17

13 weeks-ish. As JammyDodgies said, boiled sweets really help. Go to a sweet shop and get a few to see what works for you.
I’m 18 weeks now and still get moments of nausea, but it’s manageable. As I wasn’t actually being sick but just feeling nausea for weeks I put on weight cos all I could eat was relatively bland carbs. You gotta do what you gotta do though!

violetcuriosity · 28/05/2023 09:23

16 weeks both times. You will learn to manage it I promise 💖

violetcuriosity · 28/05/2023 09:23

Also, make sure you're not anaemic that made mine worse

MamaBear2210T · 28/05/2023 09:30

I had HG and it calmed around 16 weeks but I have days where it would flare up again.

OneMoreCookieMonster · 28/05/2023 09:32

Was anemic. Morning sickness kicked in late at 9 wks and lasted solidly until 22 wks and then would reappear randomly through out. Last 4 weeks were alright, just the occasion

SunshineIndoors123 · 28/05/2023 10:44

34 weeks. Everyone told me it would be gone by 12 weeks though, so I imagine that is more usual.

thecatsthecats · 28/05/2023 10:47

18 weeks now and counting. But far more manageable. It's actually morning sickness now, not all day sickness, and I'm not losing full meals any more, or being sick all day.

TTCxox · 28/05/2023 12:42

I was gonna write this post! I’m 7 weeks and since 5 weeks been feeling awful I haven’t left the house for 13 days and constantly in bed. Luckily I work from home 3 days a week. Noway could I go into work. Calling gp tomorrow to ask if they can write a sick note to get our flights refunded as were meant to go on holiday where I’ll be 9-10 weeks so right at the worst part. with my son I had sickness but not this bad and went away around 11 weeks .

bk1981 · 28/05/2023 14:10

Mine got a lot better at 13 weeks and went completely at 20 weeks. I still feel sick after breakfast and evening meals but I'm able to just ignore it and it fades pretty quickly.

Boxbedbank · 28/05/2023 14:18

Both pregnancies the minute I gave birth. Looking back I wished I'd got some antisickness drugs but I was worried it would harm the baby and there had been lots in the media (there's more knowledge in this area now so I'd probably have researched and made an informed decision). Please don’t suffer if it doesn't improve. Small meals little and often, a fizzy drink, nothing spicy or creamy, dry crackers or toast helped but its trial and error.

Blue2020 · 28/05/2023 16:34

14weeks for me.

Blue2020 · 28/05/2023 16:37

Oh to add- it did just suddenly stop (I assume once the placenta fully took over). Then weeks 14-22 were completely smooth sailing with zero symptoms. Hopefully it will improve for you after the first trimester.
