When did your morning sickness stop?

I’m 7 weeks pregnant and the last five days I’ve been so sick. I’ve only been sick twice but I constantly feel like I’m going to throw up. How long did this go on for others? A quick google says morning sickness should go away by 16 weeks!! But I’m not sure I can make it that long!

About 18 weeks with my first, 15 with my second.

DramaAlpaca · 28/05/2023 16:54

It finally stopped completely at 20 weeks with all three of mine. It was the worst thing about pregnancy for me, so I sympathise.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 28/05/2023 16:59

Mine started at 6 weeks, nauseous all day every day and night. About 10 weeks it eased suddenly, not a huge amount but I started to get days where I could eat smaller portions of things that weren't tortilla chips or dry toast. I'd also figured that sour sweets and digestive biscuits really helped.

By the time I hit 12 weeks the really bad days had stopped, had a mix of really good days where I could eat small portions of almost everything and off days where I didn't eat much, but could eat small portions if I fancied something.

The good days are getting more frequent. I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and this is my first 'off' day since last monday - probably because I went on a hike on friday and went out to a party yesterday and I find my nausea is heavily linked to overexerting myself! Even so, I'm not throwing up, I just feel a bit nauseous. I haven't thrown up properly since my last 'off' day almost a week ago.

Fingers crossed eases off for you!

First pregnancy was horrendous but it was gone by my 12 week scan. I remember it peaking around 9 weeks and thinking there is no way I can do this.

This pregnancy it's never been bad as long as I make sure I snack and don't let my blood sugar drop I've felt fine. Couple of morning vomits/ if I go too long without food but not the debilitating nausea and vomiting of my first pregnancy. Haven't timed the sickness this time as it didn't leave an impression

GL123 · 28/05/2023 20:31

With my son it ended half way through week 12 but I did start to feel better after week 10, I think it peaked on week 9/10. This time with a girl I’m almost 29 weeks and still gag every morning if I haven’t ate but I won’t actually be sick. The last time I was sick was in the car at 16 weeks and I’m never normally car sick but it just seems to happen so easily this time 🙈 hope you’re not the same

MrsMiagi · 28/05/2023 20:34

36 weeks. Still throwing up a couple of times a week. Much better than it was though

cptartapp · 28/05/2023 20:35

Four months with the first and nine months with the second.

ActDottie · 28/05/2023 20:36

Thanks everyone for your responses really interesting to hear all your own stories, I think I just feel down as this is probably just the start of it :( :( I’ve stocked up on dry crackers to help me through, also going to try the sour sweets suggestion

Mine didn't stop until 22 weeks. Don't suffer. See your doctor and get antisickness meds. They were a lifesaver!!

TinyTeacher · 29/05/2023 19:42

Threw up until delivery both times.... Not what you want to hear! But for most people it really does pass once you're in second trimester, so the odds are you'll be feeling much better in a few weeks. You'll survive! There are tonnes of tips that make it more bearable, or contact your GP if it gets really bad.

DaisyMay25 · 29/05/2023 20:25

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and mines so much more manageable, in fact I stopped taking my anti sickness tablets today.
Even a week ago I could barely eat or drink, now I'm managing two meals a day (very small portions) a few snacks and over a litre of liquid so huge change for me!
I still feel crappy but I'm not bed bound anymore so it's a win for me.
Also found out my iron is low so hoping the tablets kick in soon and that'll help too.

With my last pregnancy though it didn't really stop til I gave birth

Crustsamongus · 29/05/2023 20:31

First pregnancy it started around 4-5 weeks and peaked at 14-15 weeks. I didn't actually throw up until the day of my 12 week scan. I threw up about once or twice a week but felt sick all day every day for ages. It got significantly better at the start of the third trimester though it never fully went away. At 22 weeks the GP was receptive to my request for medication, which did help a bit.

Second pregnancy I had one or two days of feeling a bit rough but never even threw up. It is completely unpredictable!!!

Hope you feel better soon! I found non-alcoholic beer and vinegary foods helped a lot. Also H&B ginger root tablets, but check with a doctor/ midwife first.

Mutabiliss · 29/05/2023 20:35

19 weeks I'm afraid, but it did start to ease off around 14 weeks. It came back a bit in the last month, just as a warning. The worst weeks were 8-10. It is horrible, I sympathise. I wasn't sick that much - probably every other day on average - but I felt sick constantly. Crisps were the only thing that helped me.

Carrotcake93 · 29/05/2023 20:37

Week 20-22 to me

Mrscarlossainz · 29/05/2023 20:42

20 weeks.

PinkPlantCase · 29/05/2023 20:43

I felt much better around week 14 both times

LBOCS2 · 29/05/2023 20:48

About 16 weeks both times, but my second pregnancy I was generally more nauseous throughout and more prone to sickness as I kept getting hormonally triggered migraines.

Faz469 · 29/05/2023 21:49

I stopped throwing up around week 20 and the nausea went around week 24.

bravotango · 29/05/2023 22:07

Week 14 for me,. although by about week 10 I had worked out that a banana and a piece of salty buttered toast every few hours kept it at bay, so it was much more bearable

Fairycakes86 · 29/05/2023 23:07

Mine went on until halfway through second trimester. As others said, don’t suffer in silence! I tried all the home remedies - ginger, acupressure, sour sweets. Nothing helped except medicine and time! See your Gp!
