@Psqueak87 keep in mind incase (hopefully not) labour doesn't go as planned and you need an emergency section. You won't be able to drive for a while - this could be the reason for her to make sure she has a car hired & can drive (altho she'll have notice if she's not coming immediately after birth but just to be fully prepared now)
I would also specify that you want evenings past a certain time to be just you and your BF

I'm hoping your mum is the helping out type she can pick up household duties & it won't be all about her & the baby. If so it might be nice to have company when your BF is at work & get some help or let you have a little nap in afternoon etc.

@PinkPlantCase I was looking into those peri bottles, ice/hot gel packs etc.

@Travellingislife I'm thinking of sending the husband to get the right things after giving birth rather to spend all the money upfront and going to waste. Hopefully not too late!

Yeah I didn’t use peri bottles or any gel packs last time. See how you get on and Amazon prime them if you need them. I had some maternity sized reusable pads and they worked well because the material was so soft!

@Psqueak87 my folks have always descended 10 days after the Dc has been born. We pay for them to stay in a cottage a few miles away for a week. They are quite useful and arrive after breakfast entertains the other Dc and make Lunch and dinner, plus school runs etc as I’ve always had c-sections.

This time round I don’t know if it can happen, one parent will have finished chemo but could be on with radio therapy and the other would be helpful but doesn’t see our way as the right way if that makes sense! We also now have room for them to stay and I think the expectation would be that they’d stay here rather than the cottage and that won’t allow me the privacy I have craved each time!

Well I've had an eventful 24 hours, I'm absolutely exhausted. I've had issues with cervical ectropian/erosion for many many years, it had somewhat settled down in recent years though. I had a couple of episodes of extremely minimal spotting after sex earlier in pregnancy. However last night it reared its head with an absolute vengeance! It was horrible! I was super calm about it as I knew what it was most likely to be but my poor OH about had a panic attack thinking he'd hurt me and baby. Rang the midwife this morning and they got me straight in for a check and bloods. Got to hear babies heartbeat for the first time which was amazing, however bub really didn't like being poked with the doppler and kept kicking it and then moving out of the way 🤣 also midwife kept picking up my placenta and asked if I'd been told it was anterior, which hadn't been mentioned but my 12 week scan was difficult to see much due to my inability to keep enough fluid down before the scan. So will be interesting to see in a few weeks at the 20 week scan if they mention it (or if I remember to ask). Got to go back in again tomorrow for my anti d injection just to be on the safe side. Even though I knew what was going on I barely slept last night and after a super stressful day at work I'm utterly exhausted! Think me OH and DD will be going to the pub round the corner for dinner, I just don't have the energy to even think about cooking right now.
Hope everyone else is well and sorry for the essay :)

Sb86 · 20/06/2023 17:57

Goodness @JD90 that sounds eventful and scary, glad to hear all is well though. Hope you manage to get a good night's sleep tonight and you enjoy your pub meal both of you! X

spanglesj · 20/06/2023 21:25

@JD90 oosh hope you can rest up. Not nice to go through and glad you got the care you needed. Also not being able to keep fluids down at 12 wks! I had awful sickness but could at least drink by then. Hope you feel better now? I’m 20 wks and still nauseous but vomiting stopped
ages ago.

@Psqueak87 its so darn hard with family isn’t it. Often. But the reality is that your mental wellbeing truly has to be first in this situation. You are a new mum, those first wks can be tough (as much as they are wonderful) and you need exactly what YOU need. You’re right about the nappy privacy, I was literally sat there with a fan in the living room to cool down my stitches which was the only thing that helped 😂😂 So I hope that if you tell her what your preference is that she accepts that. What is an extra 4 weeks to her when it means so much to you?
I don’t know what your relationship is like but when I went into labour I didn’t want to anyone to know let alone be there! It can feel such a private thing, but you know how you will feel about that and I wish you all the strength and calm vibes in trying to figure this out! xx

JD90 · 20/06/2023 21:28

@spanglesj feeling better in general now, but still throwing up once or twice most mornings but it doesn't last all day as it was a few weeks back. Mornings suck but the rest of the day is pretty normal which I'm thankful for.

MeganC104 · 21/06/2023 11:16

Anyone else getting leg cramps? Every morning for the last few day in the right leg. Really hurts but goes after a minute or 2

Indeed! Also right side. Hip siezes up and get shooting pains down it if I've been sitting or lying a while in particular. Baby has been to the right on my scans and where I feel most 'is that baby' movement, so I'm assuming its lying on something 😅

Mrsrobinsonx · 21/06/2023 14:25

@MeganC104 yes I had one a couple nights ago and my leg ached for like 2 days after 🥲😂

MeganC104 · 21/06/2023 15:15

@FlyingHighFlyingLow I do seem to get a lot movement there so possibly. Just keeps waking me and I have to jump out of bed and try and get rid of it. Trying to drink more water today to see if that helps

LeeanneD11 · 21/06/2023 20:24

I'm getting leg cramp & the start of SPD (PGP) as most people call it . It's so painful and it's causing me to have really bad back ache and ache for long periods too. It's affecting me so much as I'm
Struggling to walk and I have 2 other children so I take them to school every day . I'm going to speak to mt midwife about it and see what can be done . Xx

Psqueak87 · 22/06/2023 06:14

@spanglesj thank you for making me feel like less of an ungrateful bitch! Lol. I am very private and I feel the same, I won’t tell anyone apart from my BF that I’m in labour. I won’t even be having a baby shower or any Facebook announcements or anything. My mum was planning on doing a Facebook announcement when I reached 20 weeks and I said absolutely not. I told her she could tell whoever she wanted, privately. Your whole stitches fan story is terrifying yet hilarious, lol, and exactly what I have in mind when I say I want to be comfortable in my own home! The thought of having to hide away in my bedroom for every feed / pump / and the thought of having to wrap up in clothes when all I wanna do is lie there with everything probably exposed is not appealing to me.

@Spareincoming your story makes me slightly less anxious about the whole situation. I have a feeling my parents maybe think I’m joking about the air bnb, or I’ll change my mind last minute. So I think it might be a little tense when I remind them that’s what will be happening.

@LilmissCa yeah good point about the c section, I even have a spare car they can use, it’ll be an easy drive for them, and they’re adults so they’re just going to have to suck it up!

thanks everyone for the advice, I’m just going to have to put my foot down if they stay too long at the house, and go with the plan to book them an air bnb.

LeeanneD11 · 22/06/2023 07:17

Has anyone felt movement even little ones , and then they stopped for a few days is this normal? Baby is laying across my stomach the last time I went for a scan I don't have midwife till tomorrow so hoping to hear the heart rate/beat of little one . I do have an anterior placenta but but she said I should feel some movement on the side but only little ones, I am a busy mum so finding it hard to relax to try find a little bit of movement , my belly goes hard now & again .

Has anyone got an anterior placenta and in the same position as me with anxiety

Hope everyone is well 🩷💙

PinkPlantCase · 22/06/2023 08:41

@LeeanneD11 I feel some movements and then go a few days without feeling anything
but for where I am in pregnancy this is normal. Baby still has lots of space in there so it would be easy to not feel movements for a bit.

I think it’s from 24 weeks that they tell you to call if baby goes quiet, though I think even then is still quite early for a regular pattern.

Ah ok thank you , I'll be 18 week on Monday & it's my 3rd baby too , I should know this by now but it's been 6 years since my last baby xx

Mldn · 22/06/2023 09:24

My placenta is anterior & I felt my first movement yesterday, I’m 21 weeks. I was at a midwife appt & she asked if I have felt him move yet & I said no, then I lay down for her to check his heart beat & when she put her hand on my stomach he kicked for the first time! Then I felt a few more last night. She said with an anterior placenta anything up to 25 weeks is normal to not feel movement!

Travellingislife · 22/06/2023 10:20

@MeganC104 @Mrsrobinsonx @LeeanneD11 @FlyingHighFlyingLow

The leg cramps may be an electrolyte imbalance. I take magnesium supplements and sometimes I do magnesium baths/ sprays, I’ve never had them and I swear it’s the magnesium combined with strengthening my calves that helps.
It’s also really important to strengthen your posterior chain ( the back of your body including calves) as you’re growing out in front, it helps with back pain.
Calf raises can help with cramps in the calves and simple “good mornings” with a band, but can be done without, also helps strengthen the posterior chain.

I'm 1 day behind you, 1st baby, not sure where placenta is but wasn't expected to be anterior. I had some strange feelings I thought was baby when I was about 16 weeks. Had it quite a lot one day then nothing for a few days. Midwife found heartbeat and baby was kicking the doppler so all fine. Odd bit of movement since, then day I hit 17 weeks I had a quite a lot. I have bad hayfever and baby seemed to get a bit startled when I sneeze 😂 the 2 days since no movement again, but has coincided with my hip issues. I think baby just moved somewhere that means I can't feel it and it's pissing off my hip nerves somehow 🤷‍♀️

Katiec1 · 22/06/2023 12:24

Afternoon ladies, just catching up on some comments and see some of you have leg cramps, just came on to ask has anyone had a stitch like pain in their right side with pregnancy before. This is my 3rd pregnancy and never felt anything like this before.
I woke up feeling absolutely fine, come 9am start school run then bam…pain. I was with gp for antenatal check this morning and mentioned it to him but he didn’t seem concerned as blood pressure, urine and baby’s heartbeat all great!
just wondering if anyone has experienced this, any tips to help ease before I lose my mind

Yes i had this a few times recently, second pregnancy. It's round ligament pain, just the muscles stretching around / beneath the belly. I didn't get it with my first either

Spareincoming · 22/06/2023 13:41

The stitch pain is seen as normal @Katiec1, even if it’s bloody painful and annoying! Mine started at 18 weeks last pregnancy and kept on until 30 odd weeks. No one seemed concerned! Every day I don’t have it with this one I’m grateful!

I broke out the pregnancy pillow last night, it was hot but sooo comfortable!

Katiec1 · 22/06/2023 14:01

@Spareincoming thanks for the reply! It’s been continuous since it’s started this morning, was that the same for you when you had it?

Im 19 weeks tomorrow, I have a pillow here so I think I’ll be using it from today going forward😥!
did anything else help to ease the discomfort of it for you?

Psqueak87 · 22/06/2023 17:01

@LeeanneD11 I’m 20+5 and I have anterior placenta, first baby. I’ve felt something, but whether it’s baby is still a mystery to me. What I have felt is so light, and I’ve only felt it at night, right before I fall asleep! Don’t be too worried. Ultrasound tech told me I may not feel any definite movements for a few weeks yet.
