Would anyone care to join me in a winge about how you are sick of your maternity clothes?

My normal wardrobe is pretty. I mostly wear skirts and tops and crochet cardigans and linen shirts.

For some reason my maternity clothes consist of jeans and cords and combats and I'm fed up.

I'm right there with you. I feel sooooo hideous and not very feminine right now. Keep looking at the lovely size 10 dresses in my wardrobe and then looking in the mirror at my yoga pants and jeans, etc...blech.

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 21:23

i have had enough....8 weeks til baby here and can start thinking about getting in my normal stuff/shopping!!!

NorthernLurker · 16/02/2008 21:30

treat yourselves!

you deserve it?

this is nice

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/02/2008 21:30

My maternity wear consists of long floaty skirts and fitted t-shirts. I'm wearing the skirts with long suede boots at the moment but will wear with mules when it's warmer.

A bit like this \link{http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/prod_images/thumbnails/a9288.jpg} which is in Jojo's sale atm.

How many weeks are you? Is it worth getting your credit cards out for some new clothes? (Yes).

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 16/02/2008 21:34

jojo skirt And if the link doesn't work again, it's Maternity under £20 on the sale page at www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk.

BigBadMouse · 16/02/2008 21:36

I was as miserable as hell in DH's huge tshirts etc (he's a rugby player) and my knackered old maternity dungies. Then I got some lovely stuff from posting a wanted on here and loads more a week later from one person on freecycle - happy now but I think my normal wardrobe is going to look a bit crappy in comparison later on.

scorpio1 · 16/02/2008 21:38

do any of you want my dungarees? i got them from ebay BNWT but they are to oshort in the leg for me (32 ins). they're from H&M, size small.

let me know on here! can have them, won't cost much to post.

moljam · 16/02/2008 21:40

id love to have been able to wear maternity clothes but i went up to AGE 16!i was so upset i wanted grown up maternity clothes!next do quite nice stuff.

turtle23 · 16/02/2008 21:47

I bought loads of nice maternity clothes several times. Thought I wouldn't get much bigger...HA! Now have 5 weeks left and have outgrown all but the tent in the loft. Too mean to splash out at this point.

Diege · 17/02/2008 14:58

Scorpio, I would be very intersted in your maternity dungarees if still available, but you would have to let me pay you something more than postage! . My e-mail is [email protected]

mumblesmummy · 17/02/2008 15:00

I feel like a barrel in anything. Although I LOVE new look maternity clothes.

BroccoliSpears · 17/02/2008 15:49

We're a bit skint to splash the cash. I've been scouting on ebay for bargains though. Only 2 months to go. And then OOOOOH what incentive to get back into normal, pretty clothes for spring! Might even treat myself to something new in May

I have the opposite problem!

All I have that fits is wafty girly skirts & long tops, which means make-up, tights, earrings, or I look deranged. I'm just naturally too big & scary looking to do girly without making a bit of an effort...

Can't wait to get back into jeans/combats.

(I tried maternity jeans last time but for some reason they kept sliding off my arse - not that it's not big enough! - & around my knees...)

Amberc · 17/02/2008 21:47

Just splurged at Mamas & papas - nice things in there - bought some over the bump jeans though - don't get them if in trimester 3 - they fit perfectly and are really comfrtable when you try them on the in the shop but once on and in the real world if you walk more than 100 yards they fall down! Where can i find decent jeans?????

BroccoliSpears · 17/02/2008 23:12

I find I can keep trousers and jeans up if I get them with belt loops under the bump band. Have to borrow one of dp's belts, and do it up around my pelvis.

My maternity jeans stay up better if I have either big pants on, or a tucked in top. I think they don't grip skin so good!

spugs · 18/02/2008 13:42

i hate the way my bum looks in maternity clothes but thats more to do with the extra 3 stone ive put on it then the actual clothes.

BearMama · 18/02/2008 14:20

I dont mind plain tops and trousers but I am 5"3 with a HUGE bump and normally size 10-12 which went up to 12-14 to accomodate extra weight and increasing waist. I now only have two pairs of trousers which fit me (not incl a couple of pairs yoga trousers) and am fed up. Eight weeks to go. Cant afford to buy any new. Meh.

hannahjb · 18/02/2008 15:42

i absolutely hate hate hate hate hate my maternity jeans and I am normally a jeans girl, they don't stay up at all, have holes in where I keep pulling them up, then they chaffe my thighs when they fall down, I honestly think that I would prefer to go out in just my pants rather than to be continually pulling the bloody things up, 10 weeks to go and counting and then when I can get back into my normal jeans that stay up I will burn both pairs of extremely crap maternity jeans. feel better now!!!

ThePFJ · 18/02/2008 16:55

I like my maternity clothes.
But then, frumpy is my middle name!!
Mwahhhh hahahaha!

-runs away before you all kill her-

Haylstones · 18/02/2008 17:00

I've got so many pretty tops and lots of nice jeans/combats etc but am only ever comfortable in one of 2 pairs of lycra maternity trousers and baggy tops so always look frumoy . H+M are the only trousers that fitted me properly- had over the bump jeans from MC but soon grew out of them! I sense a big Ebay sell off very soon. It doesn't help that I've put on weight EVERYWHERE. I'm due on Sunday though so at least I don't have too much longer to go... I hope

Catzenobia · 18/02/2008 17:13

I have a small but perfectly formed maternity wardrobe (got some great jeans and black trousers from Zara with stretchy over-the-bump bit and pretty silk tops from Monsoon (non-maternity) in the sale and a black stretch dress from Isabella Oliver so am still managing to look a bit girlie) but am getting a bit bored with it all now but only 2 months to go so can't really justify getting anything else...

ZoeyW · 18/02/2008 20:24

I nearly cry every time I go bloody maternity clothes shopping. It is like the shops think that pregnant women don't care about what they look like or want to be frumpy.

Zara has been my best bet.

They do straight legged jeans not those awful bootcut things everywhere else.

they still fall down tho'!

DforDiva · 18/02/2008 20:30

Diege Is there any chance you are already ttc or got a little bump
Isabella Oliver does 10% for mumsnetters. And when you purchase an item they sends you 20% voucher. Lovely clothes, and very stylish. Everyone, even strangers seem to comment on
I never felt so flattering when pregnant. Shame i didn`t discover IO when pregnant with dd.

Diege · 18/02/2008 21:40

DIVA, yes going to start ttc no.4 in April, just so I get to wear IO again . Agree, the clothes are just gorgeous, and have already decided what I'm going to buy . Never really got on with the wrap tops (every time I moved they'd be a slice of bare flesh somewhere!) but loving everything else
