Had my booking in appt last night. Took two hours and I was completely exhausted by the end.

they wouldn’t use my new dates that I have since my private scan so everything is 6 days behind what the scan showed, which is a little annoying in terms of scans etc ongoing.

The midwife was absolutely lovely though, definitely wasn’t a negative experience, even though I cried twice in the appointment 😂🙈

Why was it 2 hours? Or is that the norm?

Natacat · 12/03/2023 08:46

@ttcttc i had multiple MCs previously, which got a lot of air time.
it was kinda frustrating as I did explain to them that as they were all 10 years ish ago I didn’t want to focus on them and wanted this pregnancy to be treated as separate as I’m much older, in a different relationship etc but she talked about them a lot.

but it was ok, just long and I was starving

Klex · 12/03/2023 09:19

@ttcttc mine was just over an hour and a half. They take a full history, bloods and urine so it takes time

Chanteuse · 12/03/2023 09:34

@ttcttc my booking was also over an hour and a half!

ttcttc · 12/03/2023 09:50

Ah right they told me one hour on the phone and to fill all the forms in before to save time but think I might be there two hours reading your responses

Greetingsfellows · 12/03/2023 10:12

@Klex yes! The first symptom I had was hot flashes and although they've now largely settled I am having real issues regulating my temperature, particularly at night, just as you describe.

Klex · 12/03/2023 10:52

Should actually have updated. Turns out I have a viral infection, which my also account for it.

Been sick multiple times, which is unusual for me.

Had to go to OOH as had temperature of 38.

CL05071998 · 12/03/2023 11:03

@LR94 I had an early scan Friday at what I think is 8 weeks, but was dated at 7+1. Everything looked good and could see the heartbeat flickering away. I know there is no way I am only 7+1 as I got my bfp a full week before my period was due and am certain on conception dates. She did say these dates change and the baby often makes liars out of them and I have read often at the 12 week the baby catches up so I would try not to worry, it seems normal enough to be off by a week.

LR94 · 12/03/2023 11:48

@CL05071998 thanks for the reassurance. I’ve done the clever trick of googling everything and now i’m just in one big panic mode.
Because I went through IVF and know my exact dates, my fertility nurse was not overly concerned but wants me to have more scans etc and she said the heartbeat was great so i’m hoping it will catch up. I’ve also had the flu at the same time it has slowed down growth so i’m worried something may have happened x

MrsL22 · 12/03/2023 11:51

@ttcttc I was also sent the forms to fill in ahead of the booking appointment and mine was only an hour so think you’ll be similar.

Hankthehonk · 12/03/2023 14:48

Had our private scan today and saw the heartbeat!
Such a relief, especially as I had to have an internal scan after the sonographer said it was too small to see what was going on from abdominal scan.
She dated it at 6w6d which is a bit behind what I'd calculated - I thought 7w3d so not a huge difference. Due date 30 October for now, my nhs scan is 14 April so will get the official due date then.

I burst into tears as soon as we came out of the clinic. I'd been feeling so tense and anxious beforehand. The reassurance is worth every penny to us

Needtobuildabridge · 12/03/2023 16:20

Does anyone find that no food is appealing? I just don't want anything. This doesn't mean that I'm not hungry, I really am! But I'm just struggling to want to eat anything. 😂

Smiffette · 12/03/2023 16:42

I asked how long the booking appointment time y would take and she said 45 mins! That did make me laugh as it suggests 2 hours and last time it was nearer that if I remember rightly!

We will see anyway, it's a week Thursday. I'm hoping my 12 week scan will be first week of April

Summer022 · 12/03/2023 16:58

Hi ladies, time seems to be going quite quickly. I have my private scan on Saturday and I am pretty nervous now. I only have a couple of symptoms, feeling a little sick and sore nipples. In the eyes of the NHS since LMP I will be 9+1 on the day of my private scan. I do think I’m a few days behind that but will wait and see. Does anybody know if an external scan would be possible at 9+1? I don’t mind having it done internally, but it would definitely be my preference to have it external if possible. I’m quite nervous about it but just have to wait and see. I have also had to use some sea sickness bands to help with morning sickness and it really has helped so far!

Jealousofchiliheeler · 12/03/2023 17:06

@Hankthehonk great news, glad it went well and reassuring!

@Needtobuildabridge same problem here, I'm hungry and want to eat but nothing I feel like eating. Trying to figure out things to cook for meals is even harder, I just look at food in the fridge and don't want to cook anything, even favourite meals.

VictoriaBlossom · 12/03/2023 17:13

Wahooo @Hankthehonk

I was in the same position as you on Wednesday, I was dated 6w5 I think

I'm so happy for you, makes me want to cry for you because I know how you feel and I'm deffo hormonal 😂😂

That little splodge on the photo paper means so much right now.

LaVitesse2022 · 12/03/2023 17:14

@Summer022 I had an external scan at 7 weeks so it's definitely possible. I could see the embryo and the flickering heartbeat. But might be different from pregnancy to pregnancy.

VictoriaBlossom · 12/03/2023 17:16

Who's given up smoking?
I smoked from time to time and vaped, probably 20 Fags a week?

Continued to vape but the moment I saw that heartbeat on the screen.... I've realised it's best to quit.

Albeit the first day I went cold turkey I had palpitations and kept going all dizzy 😂

Is anyone else managing to kick the habit? Are they wanting to eat literally all the time (as well as pregnant eating requirements)

VictoriaBlossom · 12/03/2023 17:19

@Summer022 I'm still with you on low symptoms. Still no sickness, and same as you with sore nipples and that's it.
I had an abdominal scan on Wednesday and I saw a heartbeat at just under 7 weeks.
You won't need an abdominal x

VictoriaBlossom · 12/03/2023 17:19

Won't need an internal even !! @Summer022

Summer022 · 12/03/2023 17:46

@LaVitesse2022 wow that’s amazing!!

@VictoriaBlossom oh that’s so reassuring. I was really hoping I could have an external one so glad that should be a possibility! Just need to try and manage the nerves before the scan!! What a whirlwind x

LaVitesse2022 · 12/03/2023 17:55

@VictoriaBlossom @Summer022 I'm also low on symptoms. Never been sick, just a few days when I was a bit nauseous, and fatigue has improved. Enlarged and sore breasts continue to be the main symptom (along with thirst, ravenous hunger and more frequent peeing!)

Chanteuse · 12/03/2023 17:59

@VictoriaBlossom I’ve given up smoking! I gave up when I got my positive, so I’ve quit for around 6 weeks now. I haven’t vaped as I don’t get on with them (end up using it more than I’d be smoking!) so just cold turkey for me.

I was made up in my booking appt to blow a 2ppm on the CO meter - anything below 4 indicates a non-smoker 🥰

VictoriaBlossom · 12/03/2023 18:04

@Chanteuse I stopped smoking when I got my positive but was still on the vape.
When I had a booking appt last year they didn't have the machine to check my co2.
It's really hard to hide it now because the in laws came over and OH basically went to the shop and bought me a vape and I had to go outside and vape with MIL because OH is desperate for people not to find out this early.
Plus, he vapes, but his parents don't know (yeah I know he's like 27 and hiding vaping from his parents 😂😂😂) so he got the flavour he likes

VictoriaBlossom · 12/03/2023 18:05

@LaVitesse2022 my boobs must be larger, but they're so smooth which I'd say indicates the skins stretched 😂. I'm already a 34E so this is gonna get funky
