Saltandpepperr · 01/03/2023 21:30

@Moonicorn you couldn't explain it any better. I said to DP I feel home sick and he thinks I should have stayed a night in hospital and I rushed home to quick. Baby 1, I'm only 20 and I have never ever been maternal before this pregnancy so it's a bit of a shock to the system. Everyone has said it Will pass just waiting for that to happen.

Yes hospital is a pain in the arse in many ways but I do find a few weeks with the midwives and nurses around helps, if only so you feel a bit more confident with them and knowing there’s help on hand that isn’t a clueless man! It’s a shame it isn’t routinely offered.

You almost need to treat yourself like you’re in shock, lots of sugary tea (or whatever nice sugary drink you fancy), lots of deep breathing and remember how many other women are currently sat at home with newborns feeling exactly the same!

Moonicorn · 01/03/2023 21:55

*days not weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️

Moonicorn · 01/03/2023 21:58

Choc2022 · 01/03/2023 21:38

Hope any negative feelings pass soon for all!

@havananana where did you get a red book from?

Also how many postnaral appointments are there in the first 6 weeks? All I've been told is after birth its back to community midwife and community midwife doesnt come to the house anymore and we have to take baby to her. I have no idea how many appointments to expect.

Health visitor comes the day after you get home, then it’s every few days until you’re mutually happy to lessen it really.

I really would advise to FTMs making the most of the help when it’s on hand. So many threads on here seem to be quite defensive about them visiting like the aim of the game is to get home ASAP and shut them out. But honestly mine was wonderful, I looked forward to her visits as I found them reassuring. They’ll weigh the baby, chat to you and it’s just time to ask any questions no matter how minor.

Choc2022 · 01/03/2023 22:35

Ooh sounds helpful. I agree, I dont mind staying in hospital either as I'd feel reassured to be surrounded by people who know better than me.

All I want to do is eat eat eat!! Officially 37 weeks now.

havananana · 01/03/2023 22:52

Red book - it was posted to me a a couple of months ago if I remember correctly

Room4onemore · 01/03/2023 22:53

For anyone who is wondering, we don’t get the books until baby is born so we get them in hospital

havananana · 01/03/2023 22:56

Must be different then depending where you're based 🤷‍♀️

iratepirate · 01/03/2023 23:42

We get the red book from the hospital when baby is born, too. Must depend on area.

HV only visited once last time for us. I don’t know whether that was pandemic related or again, just area lottery..

Saltandpepperr · 02/03/2023 03:13

I'm in London and got my red book once baby was born. Midwife/hv visiting day 1, 5 and 10 home (then every week up.to 28 days if you want).

BabyLimey · 02/03/2023 04:10

What’s worked for everyone to get baby to engage? Up until recently head was low in my pelvis but not engaged. Baby now decided to move up and isn’t as low anymore. 39+1 today and have had induction booked for 40 weeks, which I really want to avoid! I’ve been rocking/bouncing on my ball but avoiding walking due to PGP

iratepirate · 02/03/2023 04:16

@BabyLimey just as much bouncing as possible (have swapped out my desk chair for a ball) and as much walking as possible. Baby has been low for a few weeks now but yday evening mw told me we were at 3/5 engaged.

Rainbowbaby23 · 02/03/2023 07:30

Woken up today with horrible nausea and vomiting,(sorry tmi) and anytime I throw up I’m getting bad period type cramps but they go away right after?

MoronikaFaceache · 02/03/2023 08:56

@iratepirate @BabyLimey Same, head was 3/5 engaged at 37+5 and still 3/5 at 40+1.. there’s no convincing her to move out.. keep on walking!

havananana · 02/03/2023 09:11

I'm 39 weeks today, will be walking and bouncing more but also feel like surrendering to the process and making the most of my leisurely maternity leave days before she arrives

TeddyBeans · 02/03/2023 09:27

Morning ladies ❤️ we're on day 2 now and little miss has been incredible. DS is absolutely smitten with her as well which makes life easier. If anyone is still undecided about pads Vs pants etc for postpartum bleeding, I definitely recommend pants. I've been in tena pants since and I've not had to worry once about leaking. They were a bit on the pricey side but well worth it imo. I'll be buying some more for the next few days of heavier flow before moving onto pads for the lighter days.

Hope you're all doing okay, the end is in sight and it's totally worth it 🥰

Morning! Thank god this horrible cold seems to be on the way out and I managed an unbroken 6 hour stretch last night Grin

Just me at home today (and dog) going to do lots of housework with the radio on and enjoy the peace. Everythings mounted up a bit as I’ve been out of action a few days and DH has been working late.

Got a hair appointment on Monday, so excited to glam up a bit as I feel rough as a dog!

TeddyBeans · 02/03/2023 09:28

If I've missed any births in the last couple of days, please do let me know!

Hi Teddy! Glad it’s going well ❤️ Are you home or still in hosp? I’ve packed the Always disposable period pants, took the advice of the ladies on here 🤞🏻

Franklin321 · 02/03/2023 09:30

@TeddyBeans my little one was born yesterday 1/3 💕

Room4onemore · 02/03/2023 09:57

@Franklin321 congratulations xx

TeddyBeans · 02/03/2023 10:13

@Franklin321 congratulations! I'll pop you on the list 🥰

@Moonicorn because she was so speedy coming we actually got to leave at 6.30am on the 28th so have been home for a couple of days now. The pants are so worth it, I haven't regretted it for a second!

AK93 · 02/03/2023 10:16

@TeddyBeans I think I saw @Katdemar had her boy on the 27th Feb somewhere unless I'm mixing it up lol xx

AK93 · 02/03/2023 10:24

I think we have around 69 babies yet to arrive! Don't ask me why I even tried counting 😆

Blondewave · 02/03/2023 11:10

ChristmasJumpers · 01/03/2023 20:30

@Blondewave people say the same to me! I've gained the exact same weight as baby girl has now so actually must be losing weight if you factor in the placenta and amniotic fluid etc. From behind you can't tell I'm pregnant at all but I have been plagued with stretch marks 🫣 all worth it in the end though

Deffo worth it in the end! With my first I got stretch marks during the last few days annoyingly so I’m on the look out currently 🤣 weirdly bigger this time bump wise tho so not sure how the stretch mark thing works. X

Choc2022 · 02/03/2023 11:12

@TeddyBeans thanks I'll purchase some pants also.

I am getting so paranoid about less movements, I didnt feel a lot generally and now I'm not sure if I feel enough or regularly. Spend half my time wondering if it is reduced movements or im not paying attention or whther tjis is normal
