@allthingssparkly how are things going for you since the balloon? Hope everything is progressing for you!

@muminlndn very kind, and I've been wondering how people have been recovering from their sections, no idea what it would be like. I'm not sure if I've seen an update from you, how are things with nicu? Still in and getting on okay? Must be stressful x

@Babynumbeeone good luck!

Wow it's finally March eek!

Welcome @BabyTalbot1 @Moonicorn

It’s me, cuppasoup under different user name 😊

Room4onemore · 01/03/2023 12:31

Baby is having a mad wiggle, wouldn’t surprise me if she is turning

Doh ignore me then! I didn't realise you changed names

muminlndn · 01/03/2023 14:29

@ToffeeEl thanks, yes still in NICU but had really good progress over the past couple of days and there's a chance we could be home at the weekend 🤞

Csection is recovery is quite individual I suppose but my biggest advice is to make sure to take the paracetamol/ibuprofen consistently including overnight even if you have to set an alarm reminder! I had a couple of mornings feeling awful compared to the rest of the day and I think it was because I let the paracetamol slide overnight.

Room4onemore · 01/03/2023 15:35

That’s the carrycot up, I’ve put it in black bag until we need it. About to get te car seat out

How are you Perexi? Did you get your cs date? All ready for your little boy? 💙

I'm good! I slept ok for the first time in age's last night which makes such a difference!

I have a 36 week scan on Friday morning then straight to see a consultant at triage for them to make a final decision on the placenta.... I'm guessing it's still not moved as it hasn't at any of the others 😂 I guess it's just a case of how close to term I should go, luckily I've had no episodes of bleeding.

I'm still working but the bit of work I was really stressed about appears to be ahead of schedule now which is a bit of a relief!

How are you doing?

Saltandpepperr · 01/03/2023 16:52

@muminlndn wow I'm on day 5 didn't have a Csection and feel worse than ever. I had stitches they felt fine but when day 3 hit I felt so horrible I also have piles 😫
My back feels like its been bent in half and I'm covered in bruises from my injections. I don't feel very emotionally stable at the moment to big waves of anxiety and keep crying for no reason.

Baby is doing so good though we had day 5 midwife today and she's very happy with the feeding he's only lost 1 gram of his body weight!

havananana · 01/03/2023 17:52

@Saltandpepperr hope you have good support network around you ❤️

havananana · 01/03/2023 17:53

I've got stretch &sweep in 1 week but hope I go into labour before then naturally

Dreamingof3 · 01/03/2023 18:29

@Saltandpepperr it's not much help but it is completely normal to have a big hormone surge around day 5, so while it's awful feeling that way, it's not just you 💓 make sure you talk to your partner/friends or anyone else.yoire comfortable with about how you're feeling, and just be kind to yourself..eat well, rest, and snuggle your lovely baby

havananana · 01/03/2023 19:29

Do we need to bring the baby's red book when we go to hospital to have her?

Moonicorn · 01/03/2023 19:31

@Perexi good luck for the scan! The end is nigh!

@Saltandpepperr day 5 hormones are BRUTAL. I could not stop crying, I felt this awful dark sadness which I’ve never felt before. It lifts within a few days so hang in there. ☕️ 💐

@havananana yes, they record a lot in there like mode of birth, weight, feeding methods, discharge information.

Franklin321 · 01/03/2023 19:31

Baby girl arrived via planned section at 9:47am, weighing 7lbs 15oz (smaller than expected) but almost no waters around her which was surprising as they hadn’t broken but may explain the lack of movements over the weekend. Glad she’s here safely now 💕

muminlndn · 01/03/2023 19:32

@Saltandpepperr I think that this is my second baby is a big factor (first is 4), then maybe a combo of the difference between csection & vaginal birth and the fact I just have to get on with it with the NICU situation.
Your experience sounds v normal and very similar to my first (not csection). I think the csection was definitely more debilitating in the first couple of days but maybe actually more straightforward now?
I'm also getting good sleep as I'm waking to pump but doesn't compare to the cluster feeding and other stresses/anxieties that plague the newborn nights. It's possible when baby comes home my real postpartum experience will begin! Congrats on the brilliant weight. Try to get lots of naps in 😊

Fab congratulations! 💕 and I must say, reassuring that she was a little smaller than expected - I do hope that happens to me! Hope you are both well!

ChristmasJumpers · 28/02/2023 12:41

@Dreamingof3 the only worry really is that her weight was so far off what anyone was expecting so if it carried on accelerating luke that she'd be off the charts!
I'm feeling totally at peace with the decision to go for elcs, it's like a weight has been lifted. Just need them to call with a date now but we'll be meeting little miss in 3 weeks or less 🥰

Take it with a pinch of salt.
I’m 5’3 very very petite small frame size 4/6 pre pregnancy and my baby is measuring 99th percentile with belly off the charts. My midwife thinks it’s a joke 😂 c section Friday at 38+2 so we shall see….nothing wrong with big babies shows they are healthy.
i wouldn’t worry just be glad weight is increasing - shows they are doing well. Mine dipped so hence having a section earlier than the original 39 weeks.

Will update on how accurate it is as going by the dates and scans baby should weigh around 8lb5 to 8lb 8 at 38 weeks……

Im still tiny by the way just look like I’ve swallowed a bowling ball people comment that I look like I have a fake plastic preggo belly on as it’s v neat and 0 stretch marks (will be annoyed if they appear in next two days) 🤞🏻😂so if there is a 99th percentile chubster in there it will be hilarious x

ChristmasJumpers · 01/03/2023 20:30

@Blondewave people say the same to me! I've gained the exact same weight as baby girl has now so actually must be losing weight if you factor in the placenta and amniotic fluid etc. From behind you can't tell I'm pregnant at all but I have been plagued with stretch marks 🫣 all worth it in the end though

Saltandpepperr · 01/03/2023 21:11

@Moonicorn my mum warned me I would feel like this and I dismissed it. I cried to the midwife on the visit she said she is going to keep me under their care for 28 days and visit once a week just to keep an eye on me. Im fine in the mornings it's when it gets to afternoon evening times.

Moonicorn · 01/03/2023 21:15

Oooh yep the ‘night fear’, I remember it well 🥴 between 5 and 8pm was awful, it was like a feeling of dread and the dark closing in! It does get better I promise. I also had this weird ‘homesick’ feeling when I brought DD home - like it was my home but in some kind of parallel universe where I had a baby Confused don’t know if I’m explaining that well. Again that passed in a week or so.

Saltandpepperr · 01/03/2023 21:30

@Moonicorn you couldn't explain it any better. I said to DP I feel home sick and he thinks I should have stayed a night in hospital and I rushed home to quick. Baby 1, I'm only 20 and I have never ever been maternal before this pregnancy so it's a bit of a shock to the system. Everyone has said it Will pass just waiting for that to happen.

Choc2022 · 01/03/2023 21:38

Hope any negative feelings pass soon for all!

@havananana where did you get a red book from?

Also how many postnaral appointments are there in the first 6 weeks? All I've been told is after birth its back to community midwife and community midwife doesnt come to the house anymore and we have to take baby to her. I have no idea how many appointments to expect.

dmb91 · 01/03/2023 21:40

They weighed me at my 36 week midwife appointment this morning, 84kg at booking appointment, 79kg today, 1 stretch mark!

Where do red books come from? Should I be concerned that I don't have one?

beatingheartbaby · 01/03/2023 21:42

I'm in the whole evening tears club too. Baby now 11 days old and thought I'd be past it by now and tbh it is getting better but I'll manage a full day of being ok now and think yessss I haven't cried then it hits 8pm and I'm in tears again. I had heard of baby blues before but I really don't think I was prepared for how it would actually feel.
