Day 3 since our daughter ( Astrid) arrived my milk came in yesterday...Feel full, hard and tender😬 I forgot this bit and this Am, we had yellow poo! Latch and feeding was sore this am..., this is purely because milk coming in I think.
I also gained a nice hemeroid (TMI) during birth so thats pretty annoying too!
Congratulations again to those who've just had babies and those getting inductions- Good luck.x

Cats23 · 15/03/2023 10:31

oh and I coughed yesterday and peed myself a bit- Joyous!!!

Dreamingof3 · 15/03/2023 12:51

Off to midwife appt for my sweep 😵‍💫

ChristmasJumpers · 15/03/2023 13:42

@ddmb91 I have opted for a c section for the exact same reasons! Induction and the risks of intervention and eventual emergency section after days of labour just did not appeal to me one bit and I would not be allowed to go over 40 week due to GD and IVF.

As it happens they were more than happy for me to have a section as baby's growth has sped up so I'm in for my c section on Friday at 38+4

havananana · 15/03/2023 14:44

For those that are scared of induction - you do not need to have days of labour and then C section.

If 1 pessary doesn't work, or if the rod doesn't dilate your cervix, you can just say then and there (so after 12-24h usually) that you don't want to try again or don't
Want to have a 2nd Propess, but to have a section instead

iratepirate · 15/03/2023 18:54

Personally, for me it’s more that I really don’t want to have to have a c section.
No midwife apts available here this week, but I’m seriously rethinking the induction now. Still no sign of anything happening on its own and I’m more and more stressed about risking another potential stillbirth. 😔

dmb91 · 15/03/2023 21:04

Well I had an eventful day!

Broke down at the midwife appointment this morning, she now wants to refer me to the mental health midwife because she feels like this is more than just end of pregnancy miserableness.
The earliest she wanted to book me in for a sweep was 41weeks with another 2/3 days later then induction at 41+5 if we get that far. Think she felt sorry for me with all the sobbing because she did end up booking my first sweep for due date! She's also booked an extra appointment for next week to check on me.

I then had a follow up appointment at MDAU for possible ICP which has now been completely ruled out. The doctor said they do now offer induction from 41weeks so a sweep at 40weeks is perfectly fine! She prescribed some cream for itchiness and I spent an hour sat in the hospital pharmacy waiting for it 😫
Finally left the hospital after four and a half hours!

I think it doesn't help that whenever I mention a section everyone just kind of glides over it and pushes induction.

In the mean time I'm taking raspberry leaf tea capsules, harvesting colostrum which is good for nipple stimulation, will be on a strict twice a day sex routine (even though it's super uncomfortable, bordering on painful) and will be aiming for three one hour walks per day once I finish work on Friday (I would aim for longer but I can't go more than an hour without peeing). My ball is out and I'm on it whenever I'm not in the bath or in bed.

Operation evict this baby is on!
Any other suggestions of anything that may help will be gratefully received.

Looking at the due date list and you're not due for nearly 2 more weeks. Why are you in such a rush?

I would just be more assertive about the C section and say that's what you want.

dmb91 · 15/03/2023 21:31

@havananana
I've not coped well with pregnancy at all, how people put themselves through this multiple times I don't know!
I wasn't expecting to enjoy pregnancy but I didn't expect it to be this horrific.
(Almost) 11 days until due date now and super jealous of everyone else due around/after me who already have their babies.

TeddyBeans · 15/03/2023 21:48

@dmb91 it's incredibly easy to forget just how shit the last few weeks of pregnancy actually are. The sickness is the part people remember, the aches, lack of sleep, heaviness etc get wiped because the baby comes and takes over all of the not so good memories.

I'm sorry you're struggling, hopefully the MH team can help. They might be more forthcoming about booking you a section, definitely push it if it's what you want. Hopefully it won't be long until bubs is here and all this is just a bad memory 💐

@havananana No progress today for you after the show? Does this mean your induction is still going ahead tomorrow then?

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 15/03/2023 22:24

@dmb91 you're having a tough time you poor thing. I too feel at breaking point with my mental health but I hid it from the midwife. I don't know why. I guess because our appointment was 50 mins late and rushed?

Anyway I know as hard as it is, I just wanted to say baby will come when baby is ready. Which sucks dick right now but if I remind myself of that I feel much less stressed about it all.

I do actually have an induction booked for Monday because I grow massive babies but in all honesty is my cervix isn't ready I won't be going ahead. It's a fine balance between baby/ my body being ready and a whole cascade of intervention if it isn't.

Sorry you're suffering. It's shit, hard, exhausting, miserable. But it will all be worth it I promise ❤️

I had more show today and bit of cramping

Yes, getting induced tomorrow! Super excited 🥰

Choc2022 · 16/03/2023 02:48

My induction is tomorrow (Thursday) but I really am not ready! I was cooking and cleaning today until 2am and had a massive argument with DP that has ruined my mood. Im grumpy, tired and achey and now dreading induction. I thought I had show on Saturday but MW said its discharge. No cramping or any suggestion that baby or my body is ready for labour. I'm dreading that it will be a long and slow process.

I don't blame you for being stressed, I'm so sorry you had to experience a stillbirth. That must have been absolutely awful for you 💐 I know it's completely personal but I've had two inductions now and didn't need any interventions with either. It is possible to have a good birth after induction - I think more people complain about their bad experiences than talk about their good ones though

bit late posting but Teddy was born 13/3/23 at 3.15am after a very speedy induction process. Hubby got sent home only to be called back frantically a few hours later as I’d progressed from 2 to 9cms very quickly. He’s a little chunk at 8lbs 6oz but we are so in love.

@havananana good luck for your induction! Keeping everything crossed that it’s a speedy and calm process for you 💕

TeddyBeans · 16/03/2023 04:15

@Choc2022 sorry you and DP argued, hopefully you're all good now. Have you had a sweep? I chose to have them just to nosy in on what my cervix was doing. I was 1cm dilated and about 50% effaced the afternoon before my induction - hardly favourable but it was enough to get things going. DD was in a rush and came 1hr 25 minutes after the gel was inserted so it can be quick

TeddyBeans · 16/03/2023 04:17

@BabyLimey congratulations! Excellent name choice 😁 my Teddy was 8lbs 4oz - Teddy's are destined to be chunky babies it seems 🥰

I'm a bit late posting, but our
baby daughter Madeleine was born Sunday 12th March at 03:09am, fashionably late at 41 + 2, weighing 7lbs 4oz.

It was quite an eventful experience - my waters broke at home on the Friday lunchtime, but contractions didn't start and when I went into hospital to be checked over they tested me for group B strep and it was positive so they said they had to put me on intravenous antibiotics and induce me asap. Had the gel on the Friday night (which didn't do much) and then went onto the hormone drip Saturday afternoon. Progress was really, really slow (I was only 1cm dilated for ages - my cervix clearly was not ready!) but then late on Saturday night I suddenly progressed to 6cm, then fully dilated, and baby girl arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning. I had an epidural which was amazing - no pain at all! We didn't need any other interventions, and just a few stitches for 2 grade 2 tear.

Recovery has been fine and I am feeling pretty good now (although totally exhausted!) and completely in love with our baby girl 🥰

Thank you for replying. I can’t really figure out what’s best. I genuinely didn’t expect to go overdue and given how slow, understaffed and unresponsive our hospital seems to be this time around, I just feel as though I’ve run out of time to make any other choices now.

Choc2022 · 16/03/2023 05:13

@iratepirate sorry to hear of previous stillbirth. Must have missed your post. Your anxieties are valid. Hopefully things start moving soon and you feel more at peace. Services seem to be a bit all over the place right now.

@TeddyBeans No I didnt have the sweep. My appointment was few days ago during DRs strike so saw someone who hadn't read my notes or knew what was going o. Appointment was massively delayed and was just fustrated. Based on statistics I had decided not to but with my induction scheduled for today I regret it now. Good to hear your experiences have been positive, reassuring for ftm's. Hope the little one is doing well x

Dreamingof3 · 16/03/2023 07:46

I hope everyone going in today has the best experience they can and that the babies make nice speedy entrances 🤞❤️

Feeling really defeated. Seeing my consultant tomorrow and will book in a section for the next available date I think. Kicking myself for not just booking one at the start and could've been at home with my baby now 🥺

havananana · 16/03/2023 07:47

Thank you 😊

Good luck for all the other ladies having induction today too! 🤗

I should get a call time in the next 2h!
