@Rose429 hey, I'm a FTM and started 'collecting' last Wednesday as I reached the 37 weeks mark. It started off very slow for me, I got barely 0.1ml in the first 30 minutes (15 mins each breast). I kept doing it daily for twice a day. I can now get half a syringe in 30 mins. I found pushing down and backwards helps, and make sure you're moving the C-shape across the breast so not just the top but the sides (I tend to get more from pressing on the side) Yeh and 2-3cm away from the nipple, also nipple stimulation. As well as what others have said with warm hands, after a bath etc. You'll get there but it does take perseverence! Good luck

Can’t believe I’m writing this…. But still stuck on the ward waiting for a bed in delivery! I’m just amazed that it was such a medical emergency to get me in for an induction that I only had 12 hours notice, yet here I am 3 days later having been induced just waiting!

Attempting another sweep tomorrow, then another on sunday and if still nothing then talking about induction 🥲

@havananana I think it will probably be pessary induction for me on Monday, not heard of the rods, are they any good? This is my third baby, never had an induction before, they’re phoning me in the next couple of days to discuss it.

@Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels Aww same day! These pesky big babies, does your bump feel massive? My baby was measuring 9.9lbs on the growth scan today, my second baby was 10lbs exactly so it was expected! It was an easy labour with her though, hoping for the same this time.

They are not hormonal, just manually stretch the cervix , so would not cause contractions
Apparently effective but looks like quite a new thing

@havananana That sounds interesting, might be good to bring on natural contractions if they can break waters, are you going in for induction too?

@havananana @Nettlestea My inductions booked for Thursday and starts as rod induction. Not sure how I feel about it, I really tense up when people touch me.

Do you know of induction pain relief options? Unsure of how to 'prepare'.

So much drama…. A couple on my ward have spent the 3 days I’ve been here arguing constantly, he starts shouting at her calling her a whore so I went out to get a midwife and ask to move as they’ve done my head in and they tell me I’m going to delivery in a minute anyway!

To top it off in all the excitement standing there my waters break on their own 😂😂

@Choc2022 i had the rods and they offer you gas and air. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting just a bit like an intense smear. They also only take 12-15 hours rather than the 24 for the hormonal stuff so defo worth it!

I'm planning to go for the rods as I don't want the pessary to cause super quick contractions and mess with baby's heart rate

C-section was so quick today under 30 mins! ! I wasn't great with the spinal as I have lower blood pressure so felt very sick until they sorted out antisickness meds. The doctor's and midwife's were incredible and I have a beautiful baby boy, Archie that we are so in love with.

Managing to do little bits of feeding and lot's of skin to skin, what a life changing day!

@Nettlestea yeh so huge! I can't do much anymore! I had a 10lb baby too, mine wasn't so easy but I'm hoping this one just falls out 😂

It's ridiculous you've had to wait so long anyway but to be faced with a twat like that while you're waiting is just taking the piss. Hope you're enjoying new baby cuddles soon, god knows you deserve it!

Tmi, but has anyone developed hemoroids during birth? I did, its a painful and v.annoying. Buying cream today and dreading needing the loo..

@Cats23 yes they’re huge & very painful. I got cream and suppositories from the GP - Scheriproct. I think that’s helping. I didn’t find anything over the counter very helpful ☹️

Glad you’re finally off to delivery, it’s awful how long you’ve had to wait.

My beautiful boy was born yesterday evening at 40+3. Arrived at the hospital just 3cm, they wanted to keep me here as my first progressed quite quickly but no beds so had to hang around in the corridor and was born a very swift 40 mins later 😅
