Thought I would tick something off my to do list and rang the local nursery to see when we need to book a place etc for when my Mat leave ends, and the full time
Nursery cost will likely be 1500£/month

I know there's tax free and from 3y of age the free hours available but it's so expensive. 🥴

iratepirate · 10/03/2023 17:32

It’s crazy @havananana !

flawless29 · 10/03/2023 17:50

@Rainbowbaby23 I can definitely relate to what you're going through. Last week, I was diagnosed with a UTI during a visit to the maternity unit because I wasn't feeling great. 🤰 Although I finished my antibiotics and am starting to feel better, this pregnancy feels like it's dragging on forever. 😩 I really wish they would have considered a C-section. Now, I'm just waiting for labor to start and can't wait any longer. 😫 To everyone else out there who is also waiting, hang in there and good luck! 🤞😊👶

AK93 · 10/03/2023 17:53

@havananana I figured out I'd basically be paying myself to work to send little man to my nursery even with staff discount! They're upping the fees again in July but not sure if getting any payrise!

You don't realise just how expensive it is until you can work out the monthly bill 🙈

Perexi · 10/03/2023 18:02

Childcare cost is crazy!

We're both hoping to do condensed hours 5 day's in 4 and my mum will do one day so we only have to pay for 2 day's a week otherwise it will be a bit crazy.

Dreamingof3 · 10/03/2023 18:29

Childcare is absolutely ridiculous. It's the reason I didn't work until my (soon to be) middle child got her 30 free hours. This time we'll be using grandparents and working shifts around each other.

Tmi but I've felt awful today, headachey/weak and sick, but also had a lot of discharge and now a bit of a 'clear out' - wishful thinking it's a sign 😂

havananana · 10/03/2023 18:37

We will have 1 day of grandparent childcare and I hope to do longer days but 4 week work week, so could do childcare 1 weekday as well, leaving max 3 days in nursery.

I get that that's looking after a child and meals, but proportionally to average household income it's so much

Cats23 · 10/03/2023 22:16

Evening all..,
I'm starting to panic at mo,
We leave for induction at 8.30 tomorrow, expected for 10am.
They still plan to break my waters traight away- This led to a 1hr start - finish labour for me with Dc#3 so by lunchtime, I might have had the baby!
I'm a bit scared, likely as my last 4xDc have taught me ' Anything goes in labour'😬😬.

Good luck @AGirlsNameIsAryaStark , Looks like we will both have our babies tomorrow!x

Moonicorn · 10/03/2023 22:19

@Cats23 can you ask for a painkiller like pethidine before they do it? It’s a relaxant so might help you feel a bit more in control if things do go quickly?

AK93 · 10/03/2023 22:25

@Cats23 good luck xxx

Rainbowbaby23 · 10/03/2023 23:15

Has anyone tried evening primrose capsules to help ripen cervix?

Cats23 · 11/03/2023 06:55

I might ask for something prior, Gas and air is all Ive used before.

SouthwestSis · 11/03/2023 08:15

Childcare costs are absolutely bonkers, it won't be worth either me or my husband working full time once our parental leave finishes.
The government may expand the subsidised nursery hours in the budget on Wednesday, they need to do something or soon it won't be worth parents of small kids working at all!

Pickles23 · 11/03/2023 08:18

I had a baby boy yesterday!

Had zero signs I was close to going into labour until my waters broke at 1am. Went to hospital, all was fine so went home. Contractions started at 4am, went back to hospital at 7.30am, had a baby by 11.30! (water birth with gas and air). It all happened so quickly (thank goodness), and we were able to come home yesterday evening which was amazing. Loving all the baby cuddles.

Dreamingof3 · 11/03/2023 08:22

Ahh congratulations @Pickles23 sounds amazing!

Good luck today @Cats23 @AGirlsNameIsAryaStark

TeddyBeans · 11/03/2023 08:26

@Pickles23 Congratulations on your baby boy!! 🥰🥰

@Pickles23 congratulations! What a positive story! Gives us overdue ladies hope too haha 🥰😆

I'm 40+2 today and no signs of anything at all

AK93 · 11/03/2023 09:32

Congratulations @Pickles23 ! 💙

I was asked yesterday if I had any signs yet, said no but that some people don't seem to it just all happens at once!! Lol.
If I suddenly went into labour tonight then he could share a birthday with his uncle (not blood related) - first birthday since he passed from cancer so it'd be a bit of a bittersweet day tomorrow, though we've known it could be a possibility and if it does happen then I'll believe in spiritual things more because it would just feel too much of a coincidence! xx

Moonicorn · 11/03/2023 09:48

How lovely Pickles, congrats 💙

Had a really crap nights sleep last night, just couldn’t drop off until 1.30 😕 DH is taking DD to a play date then his mum’s today so at least it will be nice and quiet so I can keep plodding through my jobs here.

If my scan shows baby is over 8.5lb, and I choose a CS, shall I put my hospital date off by another week? We are only doing 37+0 because of his size, but if I’m having a caesarean then size doesn’t really matter any more does it? So 38+ weeks might be better to give him a bit longer inside? I’ve got a feeling his growth has slowed a little though, I don’t ‘feel’ that huge any more and my bump has stalled for a few weeks, but I could well be wrong - my intuition has been way off lately 😆

Hopefully if I do go to 38 weeks they’ll agree to a bit of monitoring in the meantime to be on the safe side.

Perexi · 11/03/2023 10:04

Congratulations @Pickles23 and good luck @Cats23 and @AGirlsNameIsAryaStark for today I hope it all goes smoothly!

I'm off to the hospital for my bloods to be completed for the section on Monday hopefully won't have to wait too long in triage! Then we have a final weekend of just being a two so going out for dinner tonight and need to do final bit's like building the pram/figuring out how to strap carseat in 😂

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 11/03/2023 10:21

@Moonicorn just for context my first was 10lbs at 40+1 and came out my vag, this second one is even bigger (predicted) and I'm going to attempt natural again.

dmb91 · 11/03/2023 11:22

Any tips for the groin pain? 😫

Cats23 · 11/03/2023 11:30

Thanks, on monitor now!
Midwife felt position and was like ' Oh is she breech'
100% never has been so unless flipped since Thursdays scan , Then this a new development. Checking me in a bit!!!!!

Congratulations @Pickles23

It's our last or 1 of 2 last weekends as just two, so also trying to make the most of it ☺️

Had friends round yesterday for a takeaway, and going to make a 40min Gousto meal for lunch - all my future deliveries are very strategically chosen 10min meals 😂 to make life as easy as possible.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 11/03/2023 12:00

Thanks everyone, still waiting for a call from the midwives with a time to go in so anxiously faffing around at home!

good luck @Cats23, have you decided what method of induction they’re going to do?
