@JB2021 they certainly got extra people in the room when they felt I needed help. Husband thinks there was about a 40 minute wait for the ambulance to get to St Mary’s.
With being here since Monday I have decided to go home not back to St Mary’s, they said I could if I wanted to though.
There was a really helpful midwife here last night helping me with feeding so I feel we are ready to try by ourselves.

Congrats to all the new mums and babies! looks like half babies have been born already.

@Blondewave unfortunately it’s all normal. My DD cried the worst on the 5th when my milk wasn’t dropping. She’d try he breast, nothing was coming, cry, and back to the start. It was very upsetting. I thought I needed to give her some formula otherwise she’d starve, but a midwife told me it’s normal, she’ll be fine, and keep offering the breast as stimulation is best to start the milk. Nevermind the first week BF was extremely painful, bc I let her latch incorrectly one night when I was tired and then she didn’t want to latch properly ever again. I was crying while BF. But I’m glad I stuck with it. Pain went away after a week. Milk came later on the 5th day, sleep was better, didn’t have to get out of bed etc. She didn’t have many colds (maybe 2 in the first year) and recovered fast. Keep trying.

JB2021 · 09/03/2023 18:29

@Blocklynn ah, that makes sense and glad you had someone helpful last night.

Rainbowbaby23 · 09/03/2023 19:48

Does anyone have any tips on how to dilate a stubborn cervix
have tried walking, which is now out the window as it’s snowing pretty bad here, pumping, yoga ball, exercises, spicy food, clary sage oil in diffuser and in bath. Seems my son is as stubborn as I am😂:(

Sex and nipple stimulation according to my midwife

Rainbowbaby23 · 09/03/2023 20:00

@havananana have tried nipple stimulation every night all it does it give me braxton hicks, sex is out of the question 🤣🤣

Cats23 · 09/03/2023 20:14

Wellll....., One could argue that my cervix is favourable perhaps due to Monday evening...., Put it this way, My DP agrees 😬😬

ToffeeEl · 09/03/2023 21:00

@Rainbowbaby23 I've been drinking 3 cups of rasp red leaf tea a day for 2 weeks, eating 70g+ of dates for 1 week, ball bouncing, and partner and I had sex last night before midnight and must've been the straw that broke the camels back.. contractions started 5 minutes apart at 1.30am waters broke at 4am... it's the combination of oxytocin from sex and prostaglandins in both dates and semen, apparently

Rainbowbaby23 · 09/03/2023 21:03

Unfortunately I don’t have a DP to participate in those activities, and I’m not about to go find myself a one night stand🫣😂😂

Rainbowbaby23 · 09/03/2023 21:04

Currently drinking buckets of RLT
Although probably for the best I don’t go into labour with the snow here…

Suchardchoccy · 09/03/2023 22:03

Re cleaning baby, we used cotton pads and water with DD1 and it was a pain so we're just using wipes for DD2 as we have loads anyway 🤣 I'm using the cotton pads and water cleaning her eyes and top and tailing

Choc2022 · 10/03/2023 03:35

@Suchardchoccy what kind of bowl are you using for top and tailing? Realised I don't have one

Dreamingof3 · 10/03/2023 07:13

What swaddle blankets does everyone have? I've never actually done it so no clue 😂 but thinking it might be good to have as a back up of baby isn't settling

Suchardchoccy · 10/03/2023 07:20

@Choc2022 oh I just use a mug of warm water and cotton pads and clean her on the changing table. It wouldn't surprise me if I've been doing it wrong 😂

That’s all I’ve done in the past, too. Don’t worry!

I got a 3 pack of Infant Original Swaddle 1PK Surround Blanket – Small Grey Star amzn.eu/d/d983bfT These for DS and have been using them for DD. They're brilliant imo

@Dreamingof3 We use the Tommee Tippee grobags. They have poppers so can switch from a swaddle to a normal sleeping bag when baby is a bit older.

Moonicorn · 10/03/2023 08:44

Cotton wool and warm water is the advised method so don’t worry! It’s just I’m too lazy this time. I won’t be bathing him for about 10 days (I didn’t with DD either), I’ve got DD’s old Shnuggle so will use that with just warm water. I introduce bubble bath after a couple of months when they do bigger sicks 😂 for FTMs, check under baby’s neck when bathing - milk can get into the crease and make it all sore and dirty, it often needs a good wipe with a flannel and cream.

Moonicorn · 10/03/2023 08:45

For swaddling I use a large muslin- midwife taught me how to do it when DD was born. Super easy even I can remember it. You can buy Velcro swaddles and we had one or two but I don’t remember them as being more effective or anything.

Dreamingof3 · 10/03/2023 09:05

Thanks @TeddyBeans @Deut28 I will have a look at those
@Moonicorn I have got a few big muslins but not a clue what I'm doing 😂 might have to look up a how to video

We've got snow today, not loads but enough that the hill out of our village is one to avoid....what are the chances I go into labour 😂😂

Moonicorn · 10/03/2023 09:08

Here’s a link on how to swaddle! Honestly so easy
