Congratulations everyone on their arrivals- so lovely to read about all of your news! It has kept me positive and hopeful over the past few weeks when the ‘waiting game’ period has kicked in.

I’m almost a week overdue. Have just been examined and cervix closed, so may be a while for me yet. Our hospital allows for 12 days overdue, then requires intervention.

What I’m finding tricky is how invasive my friends are being- I have so many messages everyday asking for details of appointments and ‘if anything has happened’- I never would have dreamt of bombarding them when they were close to birth, yet they seem relentless on knowing every detail of every day- it’s getting too much when I’m trying to take my mind off of it!

Same! Why I was there mucking about with cotton wool and water for DD I will never know!

@TeddyBeans @Moonicorn same! Planning on just using the wipes, and got cotton discs only for eyes, etc

I'm a mix of both - annoyed with the ones that ask all the time and a bit upset with the ones that don't ask at all 😂😂

Nobody’s asking me. Maybe because they know they’ll just get a ‘surprise’ WhatsApp photo of a newborn like last time 😂

@havananana I’m maybe being unfair, as can’t be nice when some don’t ask at all… It’s more about feeling like it’s ‘information gleaning’ out of nosiness rather than genuine convo…I ask how they are/what they have been up to and it goes unanswered… Perhaps I’m being a moody 🤐

@Moonicorn I would like it to be announced as a surprise! I’ve always loved getting a message from a friend when it happens rather than trying to second guess when it is/what day it will be (which is what the bombardment of messages asking for updates feels like…)

Anyone else wondering what its going to be like being in hospital with a doctors strike on next week?

I’m trying not to! 😬

Re strikes - it's only junior doctors, so you'll still have consultants and obviously midwives and depending where you are, just 72h

I’m more worried about the knock on backlog rather than a direct impact on my care if that makes sense - I’m worried the place will be absolutely rammed, the induction will take days, I’ll have to hang about for ages waiting for a space on labour ward etc ☹️ it was like that last time and that was before corona/strikes and all the other stuff of the last few years!

@TeddyBeans my little girl was born Monday 6th 🥰

@Blondewave we are only 2 days in so far and finding breastfeeding so hard.
We are still in hospital at the moment, I got the midwife to give her a small amount of formula in a cup last night to try and help settle her. Didn’t really work as she was screaming again after 30 minutes 🙈
I was told Lansinoh nipple cream was very good so I’m using that to try and help with the pain.

Completely forgot to update but had my little boy a day after his due date on 3/3 😊well I say little he was 9lbs! 😱😂

Those who have experience with colustrum harvesting/doing it now - how many syringes are you aiming for? Also how often are you 'pumping'? Started it last night but only have 5 syringes and wondering if worth ordering more

@Choc2022 thats a really good start! I tried to make a start yesterday and got 2 droplets before getting frustrated and giving up 😩

Congrats to the new arrivals 💙 💖 oooh, I was right with the girly vibes Blocklynn! Hope the birth went okay and that the breastfeeding clicks into place.

Chilling at home today, DD in nursery and DH has gone to the office so I’m just puttering about with a few things to do. I put the baby’s drawers together yesterday and the nursery area is almost finished.

I keep waking up with the worst pain in my bump, not like contractions but like severe BH/stitch type pain across the whole thing. I usually get up and have a wee and then it feels much better but last night was particularly bad. It’s so hard to get comfy.

My mucus plug has startd to come away this am!
With Dc2, waters broke within a few hrs of it and then DS born within a few hrs after, with dc 3&4 I didnt notice the plug so no idea on how quick it happened.
Im at the local hospital now anyway ( they have MLU here but not a maternity unit- thats 1hr15 away and where I have to go!) as dc has a dental appt ,then Ive consultant this afternoon here where Im being checked for cervix and an induction date too.
In the semi right place atleast

@Moonicorn I had a rubbish sleep last night. The general hard to get comfortable, woke up with some crampiness on left side (also had this the night before and early evening yesterday), gassy (think due to laxative/constipation🙈) I was awake for a couple of hours before finally getting to sleep to then be woken by my partner getting up for work. I've been back to sleep since but have no desire to do anything just feel robbed of sleep lol

Do midwives check cervix to routinely at 40 weeks?

Happy due date @havananana - hope they can help with induction.
My due date is tomorrow and they have booked induction for 41&1 in case, apparently they don’t do it any sooner.
