I’m 40+6 today and just had my sweep about an hour ago. At this point I will try anything to get things started 😂 I’ve had no signs of labour apart from braxton hicks ramping up.

If you’re not sure whether to have a sweep or not, I can only comment on my experience today and that is that I didn’t find it painful at all, very uncomfortable but not painful. Pretty much like having a smear but went on for a bit longer. All in all, I was in and out of my appointment in 30 mins.

Wow I had only read about the stretch and sweep lasting max 1 minute!!!

firstlittleone · 07/03/2023 14:26

@Saltandpepperr at what point did you have a show? I’ve had pain around my stomach before that felt sharp whereas the pain this morning was definitely like period pain

Clarps84 · 07/03/2023 14:30

@havananana yeah, it wasn’t long at all that she actually carried out the procedure. It was also a standard midwife appointment where she took my bp, listened into baby’s heartbeat and measured my belly etc.

firstlittleone · 07/03/2023 13:24

Sorry if this is TMI.. I’m 37+1 and my discharge has really ramped up the last couple of days still very clear/light in colour so I don’t think it’s my mucus plug. Is this normal?
i also woke this morning around 5am with pain from the bottom of my back radiating down my legs and round my stomach it was pretty constant then went to every 10 minutes then stopped after an hour .. assuming this was braxton hicks?
FTM and I don’t want to rely on google cause that tells me baby will be here tomorrow 😂

Ive been feeling just like this, 37+3. So much pressure in my pelvis as well, Ive been out walking and bouncing on my ball a lot, finding it sore if I move too quickly or drive along a bumpy road 😂 FTM here too and feel like I analyse everything haha xxx

Rainbowbaby23 · 07/03/2023 15:24

(sorry TMI!!) from lastnight I have had the worst pressure in my bum it constantly feels like I need a poo but I went load’s yesterday so definitely not constipated

Room4onemore · 07/03/2023 16:12

After a very eventful time time in hospital baby Girl was born at 11:55am by emergency C-section. She is nicu at the minute having a bit of help with some air but fingers crossed she is out soon

AK93 · 07/03/2023 16:17

@Room4onemore Congratulations, Hope you're okay and baby girl is back with you soon 💕xx

Dreamingof3 · 07/03/2023 16:57

@Room4onemore I hope you're ok, congratulations on your baby girl 💗

@Rainbowbaby23 I feel like this today!

Rainbowbaby23 · 07/03/2023 16:59

@Room4onemore congratulations hope use are both well🥰

@Dreamingof3 hoping it means something 😂 can’t believe i’m actually wishing to be in pain

Moonicorn · 07/03/2023 17:10

Congrats @Room4onemore 💕 wishing you both a speedy recovery

havananana · 07/03/2023 17:29

Congratulations @Room4onemore ! Is this your 8th baby if I remember correctly?

Dreamingof3 · 07/03/2023 17:34

@Rainbowbaby23 haha mad isn't it, I just want the pain and discomfort to be doing something worthwhile

Splashh · 07/03/2023 18:47

Congrats @Room4onemore !!

Folks does any one have any app recommendations for logging baby feeding, naps etc. We started on huckleberry but kept forgetting to update it so now just writing jt down in a book 🙄 so wondering if others have any suggestions?

JG24 · 07/03/2023 18:56

So after 3 years I finally have covid...
Rang the hospital but they're not worried and just said to ring for reduced movements or trouble breathing
It's so frustrating, I genuinely hate being pregnant, I feel like i'm at the doctors every week for a new side effect

June628 · 07/03/2023 19:18

@Splashh we use baby daybook

congratulations @Room4onemore !

Cats23 · 07/03/2023 19:23

congratulations @Room4onemore

Cats23 · 07/03/2023 19:25

@Rainbowbaby23 - I felt like this last week (36weeks) for a few days,it was so bad, I kept taking myself to the loo ( I was a bit constipated!) but overall it was the pressure of baby !!

Covid isn't a side effect though
Hope you're feeling ok!

If you look from the positive side, if you give birth at an NHS hospital you'll get a private room guaranteed

I'm planning to use Huckleberry
Suppose they all work the same don't they?

LifeOfRiley1 · 07/03/2023 20:51

Thanks for the reassurance @Moonicorn and @havananana 💕 I’m officially now finished work and wasn’t as emotional leaving as I thought I may be!

@Perexi i have my section booked on the same day as you! I keep going through waves of feeling fine about it and then others that I absolutely freak out however I’m similar to you in that I’ve never really had an operation while awake.. just 2 minor procedures under a general anaesthetic so I remember nothing from either and recovery was quick. I’m sure once we have baby on our chest, we will feel so much better 💕

@Room4onemore congratulations!! Sending love and strength to baby ❤️ Hopefully you get her home soon

Choc2022 · 07/03/2023 21:11

@LifeOfRiley1 I'm working up until the date of my induction. Working from home so not a lot of effort ane tbh its more the inconvenience of having to change the dates of my maternity and annual leave.

I've not been sleeping well at all and thinking I'm make a mistake by not taking at least a few days off to be able to lie in.

Right now, I have ZERO energy. I was going to rearrange my kitchen cupboards but cba now. My favourite place is the bath and just want to lay/lounge around. I havent even been going for walks.

@havananana I've been offered sweep on monday and induction on Thursday. I'm tempted to decline though, why prolong the pain if chances are low. Interested in opinions on this.

JB2021 · 07/03/2023 21:26

The apps that people have recommended, can you have it on two phones. Thinking if myself and husband have the app we can both take responsibility for logging

LifeOfRiley1 · 07/03/2023 21:31

@Choc2022 I wanted to work as late as possible so that I could use the leave once baby is here! But glad I’ve finished up when I did as I’m really struggling to get around now. I have a week before baby arrives but like you, have been struggling to sleep as I ache all over when I lie down too long so I don’t think I’ll manage to get any extra sleep in. Totally feel you on the zero energy front, I can’t even bring myself to take the dog out now!

Saltandpepperr · 07/03/2023 21:41

@firstlittleonei didn't have my show until after my waters broke it all came out together! I literally had no symptoms apart from regular braxton hicks and increased discharge the week before. Once my waters broke it was all very fast though and he was here in an hour and 40 mins.

Saltandpepperr · 07/03/2023 21:46

@Choc2022 I honestly would take the sweep. I understand why people decline induction because it has high rate of ending with intervention but sweep is much more natural. I had my sweep at 38 weeks 2pm on Thursday and my baby was in my arms by 6am the next morning I honestly don't think I would have gone into labour without having it because I had no symptoms before hand. It was pretty painless just very uncomfortable for a few seconds.
