Has anyones health visitor called ante natal? Mines is calling today at 2pm

iratepirate · 06/03/2023 13:13

Not heard of that before @Rainbowbaby23 but I hope they can answer any questions you might have.

havananana · 06/03/2023 13:31

Had a hormonal teary wobble today.

I love growing our baby, however, I cannot wait to feel like myself again.
It almost feels like me and baby both live in this body that's a shell of what it used to be.

I can't get out of bed without huffing and puffing, my stomach is covered in bright red stretch marks, my ankles are swollen and no rings fit me. Walking more than 30min is not possible and my back aches so much.

If you have already gone through pregnancy before, how long did it take to regain your health and fitness and feel like yourself again?

GreenIsle · 06/03/2023 13:34

@Rainbowbaby23 mines did this. It was a chance for her to introduce herself and also provide information on local things for baby which was helpful. Otherwise nothing untoward.

Rainbowbaby23 · 06/03/2023 13:39

@havananana I feel you! I can not wait to have my body back!

@GreenIsle aah okay thankyou!:)

Moonicorn · 06/03/2023 13:51

@havananana might be worth giving midwife a call about the swollen ankles? Can be a sign of pre-e although is also just a routine pregnancy delight 😂

Last time I was mid 20s and physically dealt with it very well - didn’t get much pain/swelling, had quite a small bump and felt very much myself until the final couple of weeks. I felt physically okay and myself again after maybe 3 months, but was back in my old clothes and okay after a week or so.

Well this pregnancy has been the opposite - really bad back/groin pain, I find it hard to take a deep breath, I’ve been sick/constipated/had thrush for most of it. I’m only 4 years older than last time but OMG I feel about 20 years older! So I’m pacing myself this time, I don’t think I’ll bounce back anywhere near as quickly.

Everyone is different though, after the baby’s out your body might be quite speedy in pinging back to where it was. But yes it’s really tough towards the end 💐

Cats23 · 06/03/2023 13:55

Called MW at 9, to ask re the pink watery blood this am on wiping, came in for urine test, sent to the bigger hospital 1hr 10 away- Anti D jab, monotering, blood and amniotic test to see if waters gone to be done too and I still have all markers for a UTI but the 2x rounds of antibiotics have done zero.
Im really hoping they just give me induction today , I might be back on Thurs (37 weeks ) to have induction anyway - If cervix is favourable , following examination via consultant!

We have already discussed it, I don't have PE, just carpal tunnel, and what's perceived as normal pregnancy swelling

ChristmasJumpers · 06/03/2023 14:06

@Rainbowbaby23 my health visitor rang today which I had no idea was a thing until I was sent an appointment by text last week. It was a video call (which I didn't know until it happened today!!). Just general advice on safe sleep, asked a bit of info about our backgrounds, any smoking/drug use now and our support network. All done in 25 mins.

@Cats23 did they ask you in just because of the bleeding? I'm still getting it today but googling it made me think its just normal at this stage. Now I'm wondering should I be ringing in?

Cats23 · 06/03/2023 14:09

@havananana - I felt back to self after the first 3x Dc within about 2months....I was aged 18, 22 & 30)
Dc4 (I was 32)much longer- I had damaged something in back during labour with her though ( never required medical attention but didnt feel right for a good 5months after !)
Im older now with this baby (37) , pregnancy has been hard physically and emotionally, Ive had a lot of concerns re lack of movement and growth of baby..., I feel it might take longer to 'bounce back ' this time..Who knows though

Saltandpepperr · 06/03/2023 14:25

@havananana it's day 10 FTM I'm 20 and I still don't feel normal don't think I will anytime soon. I'm sore from wearing pads constantly my stitches are healed but bleeding is still heavy and piles have not gone yet. I think for me though its more the emotional side of things I'm hoping gets better sooner because I'm still crying a lot and I just can't put my finger on what's making me feel this way.

iratepirate · 06/03/2023 14:31

@havananana i really think a lot of it is down to MH as much as anything else.

With my only successful pregnancy, we were out and about for our usual longish walks around the local area within a week, DC in sling. I was walking in the treadmill daily after about 10days and back to running (slow and steady) after 12wks or so.

After the stillbirth it took me a lot longer even though obviously the pregnancy hadn’t been so long.

@Saltandpepperr i hope you’re doing okay.

havananana · 06/03/2023 14:38

Thank you all for sharing your experiences ❤️

Rainbowbaby23 · 06/03/2023 14:53

Health visitor just away. Just went over safe sleep, feeding etc:)

SouthwestSis · 06/03/2023 14:58

Is the hospital doctor strike next week a worry for anyone else? Think it's England only but all big hospitals

Shep21 · 06/03/2023 14:59

The waiting game is almost over for me! My waters started leaking at about 5am this morning and have fully gone since (no doubting them breaking at all once they had - I was convinced I wouldn’t necessarily know but god you do haha).

Rang community midwife at about 10:30 as movements weren’t overly obvious. They recommended calling assessment who were fab.

BP checked, baby is all good, the touch of pink and red blood in waters not any concern, urine clear.

Now at home chilling to see whether contractions kick into a pattern or whether I’ll be back for a booked induction at 5am tomorrow! So glad my body has started things off and feeling (mostly) calm now!

Choc2022 · 06/03/2023 15:00

@havananana I hear you. My first time also and although I didnt get sickness the stretch marks are getting to me more than I thought it would. My BMI was high from the very beginning but seeing the stretch marks made me burst into tears.

Takes me ages to simply turn in bed, the first few steps after getting up is so painful, I'm waddling everywhere, also on GD diet and constantly worrying over reduced movements or something hasnt been done properly. I have carpal tunnel, had puffy hands and feet from 4 months - havent worn my rings since then. On top of that I have a stress induced eye condition (which is in a current flare up) thst requires a and e attention each time. Restless legs is a new thing for me also.

I know it'll all be worth it in the end but still is tough.

Choc2022 · 06/03/2023 15:02

Thank you everyone for all of the advice re induction. I do find this thread SOO helpful and have learnt so much from here.

BabyTalbot1 · 06/03/2023 15:10

I am 35 weeks today and possibly delivering next week. I have tried to harvest colostrum, but going by the colour I think I am doing it too early. Does anyone have any experience? Thank you 😊

Whydotheyallhaverubbishwheels · 06/03/2023 15:11

Sorry I can't remember who asked but it took me ages to feel like me again both physically and mentally with my first. The baby blues are really normal too but if you keep feeling emotional and low make sure you speak to you doc/ midwife/ support circle :)

37+3 here and realllllly want this baby out

Moonicorn · 06/03/2023 15:12

Aww 🍷 in my post I meant physically, emotionally it took longer. The tears really are normal I promise. Not what you see in glam Insta #lovingbeingamummy posts, but honestly 90% of new mums cry a lot.

I was discussing this with my sister at the weekend, it turns out after her son was born she went to the GP because she felt so down and it didn’t lift as quickly as she expected. Coudn’t stop crying, lots of dark thoughts etc. She’s now a happy mum of 2.

Are you getting the night fear, where things seem better in the morning but as it gets darker you get more upset?

Dont worry we all go into pregnancy determined to be zen, healthy and #lovemybump but we all end up irritable land whales by the end of it 😂 the end really is in sight!

Cats23 · 06/03/2023 15:18

@ChristmasJumpers Ive had to have the anti D as presented bleeding ( though as said bleeding was pink and minimal) Im considered hig risk though and I am rhesus negative.

On way home, all fine, determined a Poss uti or thrush so given meds.

Are they freezing darker? Mine start out quite pale, but freeze to a darker yellow. Even then they’re not the same mid yellow that I had after the birth last time. I think it’s normal! I would persevere. The first few squeezes are watery as they’re supposed to be the thirst quenching bit so the more you squeeze out the darker it gets (for me).
